Citigroup Layoffs?

What I find really odd, is the senior management at my site. When I started working for Citibank back in June of 07, we had 4 OM's and a site president. Today our Site President operates remotely from Kansas City, and we only have 2 Operating managers. One of them went to be a unit manager for our MAU, and the other was "forced to retire" due to a legal matter and criminal charges. Many managers have gone back to being reps, and our HR reps are becoming nastier by the day. The other thing I've noticed is that we are normally "seasonally slow" in july and august and busy september on through. Well it is the opposite way around this year, which doesn't make any sense, and yet they are hiring 200+ new reps at my site for collections. Hmmmm, just makes me wonder.  (Sunday Nov 8 | post #6604)

Credit Card Message???? HELP

I think it's wrong, unless the account is in default status (twice late in a year), the interest rate should not be increased. According to the information provided the APR would not increase unless in default, and consumers would be notified if in default 45 days prior to increase.  (Sunday Nov 1 | post #10)

Credit Card Message???? HELP

Tina, What kind of account do you have? My husband told me a similar statement, but as far as I am aware, apr's are being increased to 29.9% only if you are late twice in a year long billing period.  (Sunday Nov 1 | post #7)

Credit Card Message???? HELP

It's a new CIT that is going out across the board. Just make sure your payment is not late and you should be ok. Just FYI because of the new credit card laws, if you default (go past due twice in a year period) there will be a message on your statement 45 days prior to the rate increase. Just a heads up.  (Tuesday Oct 27 | post #3)

I work in Cards, inbound collections, has anyone else in inbound noticed how slow its been for the last few months? And yet they are hiring another 300 people at my site. Does anyone know anything about that?  (Oct 5, 2009 | post #2349)

Fixer- I am 100% behind you. In cards it's a little bit different, since we don't have to have licenses. Yet everyday, I go into work, do my 8, 9, or 5 hr shift for 11.05/hr go home, and hope that I pay rent at months end. My husband is self employed and up until last september, we had no problems making payments on anything, our debts were paid down. I hate being an indentured drone, but I am not going to quit my job either. I am not that dumb, nor do I give up on my responsibilities. I pay my bills. I am not a deadbeat but I am broke as hell. My only consolidation are my loving family and the hope that some day soon I will hear from the job's that I have applied for to get a better life started.  (Sep 14, 2009 | post #39)

S.A.F.E MOL Test

I absolutely agree. I work in Cards and prior to getting my job I had run into some financial difficulty. I called in and spoke to a nice rep at the site I am currently working at and set up a matchpay. After i started working for the company I was able to eliminate a lot of my debt. However, since january I have run up major medical expenses in relation to me going on bed rest for the end of my pregnancy. I can empathize and I do, I am a real person. Not just someone from overseas who says "Can you make a payment today," over and over again. I think this is important to our success as collectors, not a set of 4 questions that are written to cause the employees to not know what they are doing. IMHO  (Sep 11, 2009 | post #26)

I know my credit was checked when I was hired back in 2007. I checked the box to see what background history they pulled and a credit report was there for me to see.  (Sep 1, 2009 | post #156)

I hope it's not sears so I don't lose my job. Although it'd make sense since the contract expired in November of last year  (Aug 31, 2009 | post #6452)

To all those in cards collections: How are you dealing with the change in single desktop? Have your unit managers/opperatio ns managers lightened up on Adherence and ACW? As a rep at my site, I know they are not lightening up on either stat. I went to see my UM today because my ACW jumped up 40 pts from the week before last before the new system rolled out. I was there on Sunday the 26th when the system was initially out and the next day I was off the phones for "peer help" a lot and made all the excemptions on my time sheet. I told my UM that I was on and off the phones and she said that it was ok. Now I am getting into trouble for adherence as well. Which isn't due to the exemptions I'm turning in, but because of the new systems and how the call volume is comming in I run over my lunches and breaks. There used to be an exemption. I mean seriously, come on! Are we supposed to tell our customer that "oops, it's lunch time I've got to go or my stats will be in the weeds?" No, we'd get canned the instant we did that! So why, (if there are any UM's out there reading this), can't we have that exemption back? And if not for breaks, then just for lunch. We are required to take our lunch, but honestly. Why take my lunch when it will just ruin my stats. I'll drink my water and munch on the Cheeze-its in my drawer instead of ruining my adherence. (I haven't done this, but i've sure felt like it) Sorry for ranting. Please share your experiences with the new desktop.  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #6398)
