As much as I disagree with conservative opinions and many republicans, I don't believe I have wished that they would be murdered by the thousands as you wish democrats would be. For the sake of argument I read and re-read Kzoo mom's post to make sure I wasn't misinterpreting that point of view. I don't know, I still see something different in the way it was written. And I honestly can see why folks might vote based on the color of his skin. Finally, there is someone who knows what it's like to be in the minority and have the influence to make the positive changes needed to unite and include everyone. I've known plenty of women who vote for any woman who is on the ballot for just that reason. Politics have always been lead by men, and always white, until the 20th century when women and minorities have begun to fill political positions previously unavailable to them. Maybe I am picking a bit, but I think I've just been seeing so much mean-spirited comments all over the place that it feels necessary to speak out. My hope is that Obama and the new Congress coming in will be able to go forward in a reasonable manner that all people will feel included and heard in the years to come. Goodnight folks . . . Guess what--EVERYONE has the right to vote regardless of color, sex, age, etc. NO person can take that right away from another person, regardless of what kind of education they have. If we gave a da m n about making sure ALL people receive the opportunities you wouldn't be looking down your nose at people who never got the same chances you've had. Over 136 million people have voted because they (we) knew this was a momentous time in history, one way or another. Quit picking on people! Lick your wounds and move on without showing your sourpuss! Wait a minute--how about white people like me? How about Asian-Americans, Latino-Americans, Native Americans? I think we voted for Obama because he will INCLUDE everyone and not just certain ones. Now, I don't exactly understand how Congress works completely, but as I see it, with the Democrats having the majority (but not fillibuster-proof) that means they will be able to do a lot of pushing to get their bills out there. The only problem then will be the whole fillibuster thing then. Because that would mean that the Republicans will (try to) block everything that the Dems will do. So, will it mean that the Democrats are unable to pass legislation based on their own numbers? or will it be the Republicans fault? Isn't that why the Democrats weren't able to do as much in this Congress? If that's the case, the Republicans can still ruin it for everyone . . . (Wednesday Nov 5 | post #154)

I hope you listened to McCain's concession speech. When his voters were booing Obama he held up his arms to have them stop. He gave a wonderful speech and asked all Americans to come together. what I find amazing is the same people who are against killing (embryos) will still go to war and kill (young men and women) for the sake of oil and WMD. what's the difference? Innocence? Age? The amount of cells that have divided? If you believe killing is wrong, then it should be wrong on ALL counts, not just certain ones. The cells to be used for finding cures are going to be discarded anyway! And all you people who say adoption is the way to go--put your money where your mouth is! There are still hundreds and hundreds of kids out there who need adopting. Instead of telling other people what they should do, you better be a part of the solution or be quiet. I've talked with folks who have relatives in Canada. They are happy with their health care. Watch the movie "Sicko" and you'll get an eye-full. But, because you adamantly believe that we shouldn't help all instead of some, you won't watch it anyway. Obama is not muslim, he is American, and don't think for a second any other politician doesn't know someone you may have concerns over. I'm still voting for him. I can't in good conscience vote for someone who wants to take my rights away as a woman. I don't think McCain or any other Republican has my best interest at heart. (Wednesday Oct 29 | post #154)
