Cincygroove.com is very proud to be celebrating its 4 year anniversary on 11/18 at The Madison Theater in Covington, KY. Music for the evening will be provided by headliner ekoostik hookah and local openers Hickory Robot and Carole Walker. In the spirit of the upcoming Thanksgiving season, Cincy Groove will also be holding a canned food drive and a winter clothing drive. Canned food will benefit the Freestore Foodbank and winter clothing will benefit St Vincent DePaul. Keep in mind these food items are ALWAYS needed: canned meat products (tuna, chicken, ham, spaghetti with meatballs, chili with meat and beans, beef stew, beans and wieners, etc.) peanut butter, canned vegetables and fruits. Other non-perishable items needed include: canned soups, macaroni and cheese and personal care items (soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste/brush, feminine hygiene products, disposable diapers). Please, no glass items. With the cold weather fast approaching any type of new/gently used winter clothing would be preferable, but any clothes you don't need anymore would be appreciated. This will be an all ages show, with doors at 7pm and show starting at 8pm. Tickets are only $13 advance and $15 day of show. Born early in 1991 in a smoky basement bar, the band has been continually evolving, cultivating a sound that has perked the ears of contemporaries and attracted fans who travel miles to hear them play. ekoostik hookah has played in more than 30 states at venues including New York’s Wetlands Preserve, Chicago’s House of Blues, Cleveland’s Nautica Stage, Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse, Boulder’s Fox Theater, Columbus’ Promowest Pavilion, Cleveland’s House of Blues, LA's Whiskey a Go-Go and San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall. In 1997 hookah was invited to play at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. ekoostik hookah played its first international shows in June 1999 in Negril, Jamaica. Since then the band has traveled back to Jamaica (in 2002), to the Netherlands in 2003 and back to Jamaica in 2006, bringing their fans along each time. Hickory Robot Hickory Robot’s music can be described as Americana, broad in influences, unique in style. Since their formation in the Spring of 2008 they’ve formed a large and diverse fan base in the Greater Cincinnati area, drawn to their powerful and dynamic live show. The band is comprised of Lauren Schloemer (violin, vocals); Jim Pelz (guitar, vocals); Scott Carnder (mandolin, vocals), and Mike Georgin (bass, vocals). Carole Walker Cincinnati native Carole Walker has performed as a solo singer songwriter, in a duet (The Walker Project), as the lead singer of a national touring band (Heavy Weather), and as a cast member in local musical theater productions. Carole Walker's songwriting goes far beyond convention. She weaves her lyrics into a tapestry of spoken word, poems, and heartfelt songs all wrapped in her warm powerful voice. Grooveshire and Kris Lager Band 12/11/09 20th Century The...

Grooveshire and Kris Lager Band to Perform at The 20th Century Theater in Cincinnati, OH This Friday 12/11/09 Cincinnati, OH - Come out to the 20th Century Theater in Cincinnati, OH this Friday December 11, 2009 to see some great blues and rock from Cincinnati's own Grooveshire and from Lincoln, Nebraska, The Kris Lager Band. Grooveshire is an Ohio born band dedicated to quality song writing. Their unique tone of “Louisiana Bayou Grunge” makes them one the most energetic and established acts north of the Mason Dixon Line. When Chris Melfi (lead vocals/harmonica), Jason Mollette (guitar), and Mike Hennel (drums) founded the group in 2003, they envisioned a band based on companionship, free spirit, and drive. The band tours consistently throughout the region and has shared the stage with some of music’s most accomplished acts, such as Davy Knowles & Backdoor Slam, Blues Traveler, Indigenous, Blessid Union of Souls and ekoostik hookah. They have strung together hundreds of shows over the past few years and are widely considered one the hardest working bands around. Grooveshire is a Midwest rock band on the rise. Their unique style places them comfortably into numerous markets around the country, enabling them to frequently venture into both familiar and unfamiliar places with a warm and receptive response. Recently Grooveshire won "New Groove of the Month" for November 2009 on Jambands.com and also released their debut EP "American Son" in Sept 09 to rave reviews. Kris Lager Band is a Nebraska born group of musicians who have dedicated their lives to learning, living, and loving all aspects of the American music tradition. Playing nearly 200 shows a year for the past 5 years has brought tightness and diversity to every set they play and audiences across the country will agree that Kris Lager Band is on the right path. Joy and sorrow, love and lament are all wrapped up in one musical experience where the only constant is pure Soul. If you are wondering why you haven't heard the name yet, it's all in good time. Recently, Indigenous front man Mato Nanji has hired these guys to be his nationally touring band and they have traveled from N.Y. to L.A., and Winnipeg to New Orleans playing a mix of his and their own original music. So here is your chance to see an unique, energetic, mid-western band on their way up.
