We have a QUESTION Every one should ASK

You may not know that the Congress mandated that the USPS pre-pay billions of dollars, shorting their money on hand. Some in Congress want the USPS to go bankrupt because they favor privatizing the mail system; turning it over to a profit making corporation. Guess what that would do to the cost of mailing anything. " The USPS has overpaid $75 billion into the federal retirement fund. This has been confirmed by the Postal Regulatory Commission and the Office of Inspector General. They are also forced to pay over $5 billion per year to prefund retiree health benefits 75 years in advance, something no other agency or company has to do." Retiring to Altoona ~ seeking info

I'm a 66 y/o guy on Social Security planning to move back to my home state of PA after decades away, and have settled on Altoona .. due to the lower cost of living, public transit, etc. My needs are few ... a place to live, and the ability to get to the doctor, shopping, etc. My first need is a place to settle upon arrival. A place not too expensive (read = cheap) to stay while looking for something (housekeeping room, studio) more permanent. I'm a non-smoker, non-drinker, no drugs, old boring white guy with diabetes who likes to read and watch TV. No criminal history. Please adopt me, or can you offer up some suggestions as to where I can land temporarily or longer? Many thanks !  (Jun 23, 2012 | post #1)
