Gunman's mother kept trials of home life hidden

Sorry, but that is unbiblical. It is an idea created by a man.  (Dec 20, 2012 | post #382)

Jesus Christ died one time on the cross. His one death purchased the forgiveness of ALL sins. If what you are saying is true, He would have to keep dying for each sin we commmit.  (Dec 20, 2012 | post #380)

When it comes down to whether a person will spend eternity in heaven or hell - the ONLY forgiveness that matters is the forgiveness that comes from God. Forgiveness from a man is wonderful but it has no eternal effect.  (Dec 20, 2012 | post #378)

No, what Jesus Christ ACTUALLY SAID was: 1 John 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. What some man "thinks" He said or "thinks" He meant does not matter.  (Dec 20, 2012 | post #375)

It does not matter what we "believe " - if something is not written in the bible it is dreamed up by a man and therefore unbiblical. Cleansing in Purgatory is an unbiblical concept. No amount or kind of "works" will gain anyone forgiveness. ALL FORGIVENESS comes directly from God only. 2 Corinthians 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.  (Dec 20, 2012 | post #373)

The victim or victims of murder are not capable of forgiving the one who murdeed them! There is a "free lunch" as you call it but it cost Jesus Christ death on the cross. Through Him and Him alone ALL SIN can be forgiven. Any other way to forgiveness is UNBIBLICAL. Even if a murder victim was able in their last breath to forgive the murderer, that has nothing to do with whether the murderer will be forgiven by God of not. ALL FORGIVENESS comes directly from God, any other forgiveness does not matter when speaking of whether the murderer will go to heaven or hell. MOSES was a murderer, is he in hell now?  (Dec 20, 2012 | post #362)

Jesus Christ said that if you even hate somebody you are guilty of murder. I don't think there is anybody who hasn't hated somebody in their life. And it does not matter if you have been able to keep 4 or 5 or 7 or 8 or even 9 of the commandments - the bible says that if you break one of them you are guilty of breaking them all. 1 John 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.  (Dec 20, 2012 | post #361)

Where in the bible does it say that "expiation " is necessary for forgiveness?  (Dec 20, 2012 | post #345)

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  (Dec 20, 2012 | post #344)

No one is good enough. There was only one person good enough (sinless) to get to heaven on their own merit. That was Jesus Christ. We are all sinners. Only those who accept Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross will be forgiven. He was the final sacrifice, the Lamb of God. Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins,he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.  (Dec 20, 2012 | post #343)

I doubt Adam Lanza took his life to escape punishment. Adam Lanza was broken and he was in a rage. When he got his fill of killing he came down to his turn. Or who can say that Adam Lanza didn't shoot himself because he was disgusted by what he had just done and wanted to die? I disagree, there are MANY people around the world who have no form of "organized religion." There are countries where it is illegal for Christians to meet and worship God or study His word. I have also met people who did not know another Christian so there was no other person much less a group to congregate with. Most of those people have richer relationships with God than anybody I have met in the United States.  (Dec 20, 2012 | post #340)

When a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, asking Him to forgive their sin - ALL OF THEIR SINS ARE FORGIVEN> past, present and future. Christ only died on the cross one time, one time for all sins. There is NOTHING a person can do to be forgiven for their sins other than to simply ASK FOR FORGIVENESS. There is no work you can do to earn forgiveness. Jesus Christ was the only one capable of earning your forgiveness, because He was sinless.  (Dec 20, 2012 | post #339)

Have you ever heard of "MENTAL ILLNESS"? Just because somebody is mentally ill it does not mean they are evil.  (Dec 19, 2012 | post #336)

Who is capable of keeping all of the commandments above? Nobody! If you are guilty of breaking one you may as well break them all because breaking the one will send you to hell.  (Dec 19, 2012 | post #335)

1) Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 2) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. 3) Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. 4) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. 5) Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. 6) Thou shalt not kill. 7) Thou shalt not commit adultery. 8) Thou shalt not steal. 9) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. 10) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.  (Dec 19, 2012 | post #333)
