Oklahoma man arrested after allegedly trying to pay a $32...

If the economy keeps tanking, the gum wrappers might end up worth more than our dollar. Maybe the guy is on to something.....  (Nov 8, 2008 | post #5)

Obama, McCain cast votes, make final pitches

So, does this mean that Social Services and Food Stamp give-aways are a thing of the past? Does this mean that we can all expect the incredible number of government leeches decide to actually get a job and live up to the responsibility of being a real citizen, now that Mr. "Spread The Wealth" is about to take office? Or are we about to usher in a new age of "What is the government going to give me for being victimized all these years?" rhetoric now that a socialist agenda is going to be put firmly in place? I'm seriously hoping that the notion of entitlement based on race will disappear now that Obama is President....but I'm not holding my breath. You asked for it, America....you now have it. If any voter vilifies me for being racist, well, then, so be it. All I want to see is a decrease in free money to able-bodied citizens of any racial background STEP UP and become a tax-paying, employed member of our "new" society.  (Nov 4, 2008 | post #29)

Terps slide past N.C. State

What I'm having a real hard time believing is that the game wasn't even televised in this area. What's up with THAT? Dartmouth playing Snot State gets air time, but the Terps are a no-show for any local fan to watch. Horse manure..........  (Oct 25, 2008 | post #8)

Terps hold renewed hopes for ACC title

The loss to Virginia says more to me than the bizarre no-show against Middle Tennessee. Wins against California and Wake show that the Terps are capable of beating a quality opponent, but both of those games were at home. Coming back against Clemson in Death Valley was a pleasant surprise, but this team HAS to win a game it is supposed to win for me to feel like Maryland has what it takes to seriously contend for an ACC title. Beat NC State this Saturday.......bec ause Virginia Tech, North Carolina, FSU, and Boston College are the next four, with Tech and BC on the road. I'm not too confident this squad will do better than split those four, at best, and is probably going to end up at 6-6 or 7-5.........provid ing they win this weekend against NC State. They are just too inconsistent. The jury is out, big time.  (Oct 21, 2008 | post #6)

Orioles release Loewen

Your comments are appreciated. When a player with the tools Loewen had suffers such devestating injuries, fans should think of the kid's pain and disappointment getting so close and having it taken away from him, as opposed to calling him a "bum" and dismissing him as just another reject the Orioles have drafted. Here's hoping Adam somehow finds the resolve to dig down deep and comes back to play in the majors. Rick Ankiel did it for the Cardinals....maybe Adam Loewen can do it for the Orioles. I wish him the best of luck, and so should everyone else.  (Oct 20, 2008 | post #11)

What was the pivotal moment of the 1983 postseason?

What I like most about Boddicker's gem is that NBC Sports used one of his whiffle balls during that masterpiece as part of their pre-game montage, accompanied by that cool violin music that went "da---na-na-n a....da na na na na na na" for about the next 15 years............. ...and showed it in Super-Slow-Mo. Anyone who puts Tito's tater lower than #2 as a pivotal moment is goofy, as Landrum's home run was crucial for the Orioles winning that series, but Boddicker's unbelievable performance in Game 2 set the stage for what followed. By the way, the topic was the SERIES, not the regular season. Tippy's picks were memorable, but off-topic.  (Oct 15, 2008 | post #9)

Man arrested after excessively blowing his horn to 'let p...

I DID read it again......he's being charged with a misdemeanor and had to pay $250. He got a woopdie-do ticket for "excessively blowing his horn" and was out on the street.  (Oct 6, 2008 | post #5)

O's should bring Cabrera back

I would rather chew an entire roll of aluminum foil, scrape my bitten nails straight down a chalkboard, and watch Britney Spears' bloated and stiff performance at the VMAs last year....on continuous loop...........tha n watch the dumbest pitcher to ever don an O's uniform, Daniel Cabrera, throw another baseball as a Baltimore Orioles. Am I clear on this?  (Oct 1, 2008 | post #2)

Exactly HOW does a guy blow a .23 and get off with a fine and misdemeanor charge? Geez....stay off the streets of Glen Falls, NY....or the sidewalks, for that matter.  (Oct 1, 2008 | post #3)

Terps rally past Tigers

This could have been one of Ralph Friedgen's finest all-around coaching jobs since he took over at College Park. Kudos to his defensive coordinator as well for making incredible adjustments after the first half. You should read some of the comments Clemson fans are making, though. They're going ballistic about Tommy Bowden's bizarre change of tactics and neglecting the run when the Tigers had trampled the Terps during the first two quarters. Regardless of which side of the fence you stand, this is a major coaching victory for The Fridge and Maryland.  (Sep 27, 2008 | post #13)

Washout: O's lose their 10th in row

Cue up the scratchy vinyl 45 copy of Sonny and Cher's "The Beat Goes On." It's a shame that the season has to end like this.....again. So many positive things happened during the first four months of the season. Great comeback wins, solid pitching from the bullpen, a surprisingly scrappy offensive attack, and players acquired from the Bedard and Tejada trades giving fans hope for the future.....and then August comes around and the team tanks again. I'm tired of the "wait 'til next year" mentality....but what's an O's fan to do? The only thing left to say after this incredibly predictable collapse is to say "Wait 'til next year." Without some decent starting pitching, it will always be next year. And that is simply not good enough anymore.  (Sep 27, 2008 | post #4)

Browns cleared by NFL after Ravens' inquiry

I totally agree. That guy spends more time on camera calling out penalties than most of the players on the field. Plus, I grew up in Halethorpe.  (Sep 25, 2008 | post #10)

O's drop first game of doubleheader vs. Rays

I was busy playing poker, but after Simon served up the mammoth home run to make it 5-3, I told my card crew "If Trembley brings in Walker turn the television off, please." I didn't even remotely think Trembley would bring in probably the WORST pitcher EVER to humiliate an Orioles uniform in Jamie Walker.....but there he was. Hey, we lost the first game. That's the way it goes. But when the O's are winning 5-3 with two outs in the 8th inning, and Trembley ONCE AGAIN brings in Walker for reasons unknown, I'm downright mad. Hostile, furious, absolutely beside myself livid. Bringing in Jamie PUTRID Walker instead of ANY OTHER reliever makes me want to projectile VOMIT. The kid we had pitching, Simon, tossed the gem of his life, and Trembley brings in BUM OF THE MILLENIUM Walker to puke the whole thing away. I have never been so disgusted with the outcome of an Orioles game in all of my life as I was tonight.  (Sep 23, 2008 | post #22)
