Chick Fil A sales down 25%

OK, firstly I am an Aussie. WTF is ChickFilA??? I'm gathering it's some kind of fast food place? I've never heard of it and we don't have it here (yet, anyway!).  (Aug 17, 2012 | post #84)

2012 Presidential Election

Thousands line up for right to work legally in US

Well, naturally. You're Americans. You don't have any rights in your own country any more. Everyone else does except you. It's the new law courtesy of corrupt politicians, corrupt corporations and even-more-corrupt lawyers, who all profit from immigration (both legal and illegal). Instead of your taxes being used to better your infrastructure and health care, it will be squandered on "foriegn aid" and practically everything else that has NOTHING to do with helping you.  (Aug 17, 2012 | post #264)

Top Stories - Mexico

Wal-Mart Mexico hit by new allegations

Money laundering and tax evasion? They'd be LEGAL activities in Mexico, wouldn't they? Considering their other and bigger problems, I don't think too many resources will be devoted to investigating that one, folks!!!  (Aug 17, 2012 | post #2)

Manufacturing

Caterpillar Deal Reached: Plant's Striking Joliet Workers...

How long will it be before Caterpillar move all manufacturing off to China and India? I don't see any sun on the horizon for manufacturing in western countries. It's all leading one way - and that's straight down the gurgler.  (Aug 17, 2012 | post #1)

Manufacturing

Letter: Corporations prosper while workers suffer

Corporations are ruining everything and that includes politicans, who are happy to take their money. Look at the shell that was once the United States of America. How can you honestly say corporations have done the right thing by Americans? And it is the same formula the world-over.  (Aug 17, 2012 | post #66)

Obama Economy - Owensboro, KY

As an Aussie with a business background and looking in on the USA, I really fear for your future over there. I don't see a way out the current situation. The USA desperately needs a new industrial revolution, but what is there to turn to? Western countries such as the USA, UK and Australia have outsourced virtually all manufacturing capability overseas. Yet our lifestyles are almost completely dependent on goods for consumption! Worse is that we are still building cars that guzzle fuel like everyday is Christmas. Us guys love V8's, but let's face it; we're living in a world that increasingly cannot afford to run them. Fuel in the States I believe is at just under $4.00 a gallon. In Australia, we're at over $6.50 a gallon and the bastards are looking to push that north. I think the USA could really kick-start something by building electric and hybrid cars. And absolutely NO Government hand-outs/bail-out s for automotive companies UNLESS they sign up 100% to build them! All the existing plants (and empty, closed-down factories, too), would have to be re-engineered. Workforces would need to up-skill and retool. The changes would bring about enormous and radical economic shifts. Armies of gas stations would have to re-engineered and change business models. The alternative my friends, is to watch China build electric cars and them import them into your country. And by that stage, there's no use throwing your arms in the air and shouting, "Well, just great! What do we do now?!!!" Obama has NOTHING to do with it. Nor will changing Presidents. The wealthy elite of your country have gambled everything away so that they can buy yet another Ferrari whilst your countrymen lose their jobs, their homes and for some - their lives. Major and radical changes are needed and I don't think the rich men being elected as Presidents in your country give a rat's arse to do anything to change the status quo. A single generation of 1970's misfits who sat around smoking weed in their youth are now running your corporations, your Governments and in particular, your banks. THEY DON'T GIVE A S**T. And we have the same thing here in Australia. It makes me absolutely bloody furious thinking about it. And I warned people a decade ago about what was to come if the debt situation was not addressed and real estate greed left unabated. Who listened? Real estate agents got rich and everyone else got screwed. One greedy generation destroying everything for the next. What legacy will the youth of tomorrow be left with?  (Aug 9, 2012 | post #266)
