Pratt & Whitney Lays Off About 170 In State

Not everyone is unhappy today - I got my notice this morning and am the happiest I've ever been in shall we say 30 years? Woo Hoo!!! Adios I say to the Rat Race.  (Jun 24, 2009 | post #25)

Kitten Tortured To Death In Bronx

Anyone who would do this to a kitten (or any type of life) is not fit to be called a human being. As a foster home to many, many homeless kittens and cats for my local animal shelter, I could never imagine being in that state of mind. This article is sickening which is about the only purpose it serves. I ask myself as well why I read it.  (Jun 5, 2009 | post #17)

Trying To Fill Gospel Music Void

I most certainly do find this news - it's uplifting and better to hear about than another shooting in Hartford.  (Apr 20, 2009 | post #5)

Mysterious Plague Kills About 90 Percent Of Connecticut's...

This isn't funny, this is scary. First, our bats are killed off by a "mysterious " fungus. Second, loads of mosquitos infected with a "mysterious " potentially deadly virus abound this summer. Call me paranoid, but this could be the perfect setup for evildoers to inflict a form of terrorism. I hope I'm wrong.  (Mar 18, 2009 | post #14)

It would be a heartbreak beyond comprehension if our new President was ever killed. I wish they arrested the sicko when they first spoke to him.  (Jan 29, 2009 | post #4)

Wife Of UTC's George David Has Expenses Of $53,000 A Week

This story makes me want to puke. I'm home at night on the phone comforting all my friends who got laid off. A flogging would have felt better than to read this stupid trash. Stupid me for being sucked into it and reading it.  (Dec 18, 2008 | post #88)

Professor Testifies In Term Paper Trial

Special Movie Screenings For Autism Families

As I read this article, the word AWESOME was forefront in my mind. As a 60's kid who watched a fellow classmate that exhibited autistic behavior being punished and shamed, I'm so warmed by the efforts of those who are reaching out to open up a part of the world for these children. Bravo to all of you!  (Nov 17, 2008 | post #17)

Religious Americans: My faith isn't the only way

Jerry, please don't feel ashamed of yourself. Whatever makes you feel bad - you've learned from it and can make changes that will bring you inner peace. I've done plenty of things that I'm ashamed of too - we all have. You've put on some great posts here with lots of in-depth thought and have helped more people than you'll ever know. All of you that have hung on and still post here - I consider you kind of like a Forum Family and look forward to all your posts - whether I agree with them or not. fed up and I have exchanged some private emails and she is a terrific person. Brad, are you still around?  (Oct 18, 2008 | post #5681)

Religious Americans: My faith isn't the only way

fed up, it's so funny you say that - because no matter how much I ate I could never gain weight either. I quit smoking pot a long time ago after having some really bad experiences with it - I'd get claustrophobic for example and start going into panic attacks. Most of the time, I was never impressed with the stuff and thought it turned me into a zombie and took away my ambition. Did you ever hear the comparison between an alcoholic, an acid head, and a pot head by this one: all three come to a door and find the door is locked, and they really need to get thru the door to get to where they are going. The alcoholic says, 'let's bust the door down'; the acid head says, 'let's float thru the keyhole' and the pot head says, 'let's sit here and wait for the door to open'. Well, I was definitely the pot head. Over the years I've put on about 50 lbs. and I now eat a fraction of what I used to and it just doesn't come off, and I exercise regularly too. I never connected my weight gain to pot; just to getting older. But wouldn't that be something if it speeded up metabolism! I still wouldn't touch it as I need a clear head to do my job. I've never heard of pot being considered for a weight loss product either. I remember way back in my younger days how a good high went hand-in-hand with an abundant feast afterward, ice cream being the ultimate.  (Oct 17, 2008 | post #5677)

Religious Americans: My faith isn't the only way

Jerry, there's one rule of thumb of living life in a way that's pleasing to God - the real God - and that is basing everything on love. And note that I'm not talking about being a doormat for everyone to wipe their feet on; many people take a statement like that to mean one humbles themselves to all. Love thinks and acts appropriately in all situations, as best as we can do. I'm interested - just how don't you think like a christian? I'm not sure how to take that - does he mean that in a positive way or a negative way? Blessings to you!  (Oct 4, 2008 | post #5467)
