Pikeville Medical Center earns new accolade

See? Exactly my point--it wouldn't be long at all before someone said they could get nothing at all for pain  (Nov 22, 2010 | post #40)

Pikeville Medical Center earns new accolade

As for the person who said something about a woman being turned away and not being allowed to even plug in oxygen--it is a fact that no one can be turned away from PMC, something about what they agreed when they first opened. Which is why the hospital gets stuck with some of the same patients, for months at a time...we are the only hospital from Lexington to here--and more around the vicninity of these areas--that cannot refuse to treat a patient. As for the person who stated they give morphine to everyone that walks in with pain. Totally untrue, and I'm sure if we give it enough time someone will complain they were looked at as someone seeking drugs and could'nt get anything for pain. You can't please people..at all. And for the band-aid station comment--come up with something a little more unique. People get tired of hearing that. PMC may not be the best in the world but many life-saving operations and procedures have been performed. Just get a tally on how many people are coded and rapid responsed in a month. Those people probably don't believe they are at a band-aid station.  (Oct 24, 2010 | post #25)

PMC Arbitration Agreement

I think lawsuits are ridiculous. If it is found that the practitioner MEANT to hurt someone or was being careless, that is entirely different. But mistakes are made, things happen. Why sue over everything? People just try tro get money out of everything.  (Oct 17, 2010 | post #32)

Gosh he's pretty popular...always something to say about someone. Sounds to me people are mad they aren't with him. Grow up and get over it. If that many times he has really been complained on, they'll look into it and something will be done.  (Oct 17, 2010 | post #43)

Snakes in K-Mart @ Pikeville

There have been many places in the Pikeville area that has had snakes in their stores. Peebles, JCPenneys are two and they are removed and it isn't a big deal...someone just let the news get a hold of this one. Most come in through the back door while it is left open when a delivery is made...this is hours at a time, moreso around this time when Christmas merchandise is being brought in. A snake is pretty small considering the size of a store..it can be around for days and people never notice it. Many places to hide. Kind of scary!  (Oct 17, 2010 | post #32)

Murder -Suicide at IGA-Johns Creek

Sooo just because you were close to Post, it makes it okay to think they should "rush right over"? Do you really think the Troopers just sit around at Post and wait on a call? The Troopers that are at Post are either there for an inservice, doing paperwork or WORK there all the time, as in they are NOT on the road. And do you have any idea how big of an area Post 9 covers? It is IMPOSSIBLE for them to be ANYWHERE quickly. IF they aren't doing anything, they are usually at least 30 minutes or more away, and like I said, that's if they are not tied up with some complaint...and most of the complaints they get are stupid, such as someone getting meat stolen out of their freezer--I mean, really? What is the state police supposed to do about things like that? Leave them alone so they CAN be ready when something REAL happens, such as this. Also, they were completely in their rights to say call the city police...if it is in city limits, state police does not handle it unless city requests it. This is because their area is so big and anythign in the city is handled by the city police.  (Oct 9, 2010 | post #102)

Murder -Suicide at IGA-Johns Creek

Did you stop to think of where the police officers may have been that made it take them this long? Maybe they had to be called out from home and had to get ready then drive there, or on a stupid complaint that they were in the middle of...think about that before you down how long it took them to get there. It WAS 6 in the morning, not that many are out at that time. And those that are have been bombarded with stupid complaints that ignroant people call in, that prevents them from dealing with the REAL crimes out there.  (Oct 6, 2010 | post #39)

Pikeville Medical Center- Nursing Pay

Try dealing with these patient's families before you act like it is such a crime that nurses get aggreavted with them! As nurses they are NOT there to get them coffee, blankets, juice and whatever else they want. It is nearly impossible to do the job the nurses are there for when the families are constantly wanting things for themselves. How hard is it for the families to get up and get it themselves? I mean, seriously, a nurse has 6 patients to check on, assess, medicines to pass, IVs to hang, dressing to change, and that is the BASIC things. That doesn't count when an IV comes out or a patient goes bad and you're stuck in the room for hours at a time. This person was simply stating that it is hard to do the job they are supposed to do becuase they are too busy tryign to wait on the family members hand and foot. Don't even mention the fact that there will be lots of concerned family members in the room at a time while the nurse is trying to do her job and work on the patient but can barely get to the patient for the family members. How hard is it to step out for just 10 minutes so they can get their job done and move on to the next patient? It has nothing to do with a nurse complaining or not being appreciative of the job she does. YES she did know it was hard when she started but the families make it 10 times worse jsut by being lazy--example, they have all these thigns to do and they ask the nurses to get them a cup of coffee while they are laying in the bed next to the paitent. How hard is it for them to walk to the desk to get it? Only someone that work under conditions like that would understand. And as for the pay, don't be jealous that nurses get paid a pretty good amount, they worked their BUTTS off to get ot where they are and stand on their feet for 12 horus a day working their butts off to keep YOUR family alive. All while listening to them complain about the care, the hospital and all this other stuff and never once getting a thank you for it. I know this sound a little harsh but look at it from the other family's perspective..your mother can't breathe and is going into respiratory failure while your nurse is getting coffee for the daughter of the patient in the next bed. Make more sense now?  (Sep 15, 2010 | post #60)

Man charged with over 100 pot plants

It doesn't matter which is easier to get...the fact is taht it is illegal and people are constantly trying to push the limits to see what they can get away with. All it is is people looking for a way to get away from reality and numb themselves of the world and they like the feeling of the high it gives them. Just my personal opinon, no statistics, but I don't believe that the majority of people are responsible users. I did watch a very interesting episode of the Tyra Banks show the other day about moms that smoke marijuana. They represented both sides, those for and opposed and I could not be convinced that it was okay. Some of these mothers thought there was absolutely nothing wrong with driving their children while under the influence. Every excuse they had consisted of knowing their limits and things like that.  (Sep 15, 2010 | post #46)

If you go back and read a post I placed, I said my opinion doesn't matter about prohibition that this is a totally other subject. But the answer is YES I think prohibition of alochol should be reinstated. I did not give this opinion because I knew where it would lead.  (Sep 15, 2010 | post #45)
