Should it be legal for homosexuals to marry in MN?

Well, I agreed with leonard pitts for the first time in my life today, so might as well find myself in agreement with you. ;) I find it disturbing that our country is increasingly run by judges--not answerable to the will of the people--rather than legislators, and I guess its typical liberalism to like totalitarianism as long as they get what they want out of it.  (Apr 6, 2009 | post #16)

Maybe we should legalize drugs

Might as well buy a lottery ticket, as I find myself agreeing with the professionally angry pitts. Libertarians have always wanted to legalize drugs, and as I idenfify with more and more libertarian views, I agree--legalize it. Since pbo is destroying our country in many stupid ways, why not go ahead and legalize pot. Its not like he will lose any conservative votes by doing so. If entire countries are destabilized by this, and american communities destroyed by drug violence and money, its starting to look like the cure is worse than the disease. Our ancestors were able to see that alcohol prohibition was a failure, why can't we be honest with ourselves on this prohibition? We don't need to do anything radical. Start with pot and see how it goes for a couple of years and then move on to the harder drugs.  (Apr 6, 2009 | post #11)

Craigslist killer gets life in prison without parole

That's the fortunate part. The unfortunate part is that he threw someone else's life away.  (Apr 1, 2009 | post #29)

Craigslist killer gets life in prison without parole

Well, your last sentence contradicted everything you so carefully explained in the first part. I agree, though, that prison rape is not something that should be condoned as a means of escalating the punishment of criminals we dislike. I would prefer death penalty for this little puke, but presumably he will just be warehoused for another 40 years and that's better than running free. Wonder if he has any regrets for his actions?  (Apr 1, 2009 | post #28)

Expert: Teen unarmed when Minneapolis cop shot and killed...

The pp really wants to help the plaintiff's lawyer and hassle the cops on this one. Two articles in a row. When the first one didn't convince many people, they trot out an 'expert'. But all the original objections remain: 1) We weren't there. 2) The so-called video is a small number of low resolution images, 3) It doesn't cover the actual shooting, 4) It doesn't cover prior to the shooting. In addition there is a new objection: We all know that attornies can find 'experts' for both sides of any case to say whatever is desired.  (Apr 1, 2009 | post #22)

Obama's message to CEOs: Bend to my will or be taken down

That's what happens when you take the government's money--you give up some freedom. These companies should be allowed to fail and keep the govt out of nationalizing industries.  (Mar 31, 2009 | post #135)

Security video: Do you see a gun in this suspect's hands?...

I'm not going to second guess a cop who was there based on a low resolution video--and shame on the liberal PP for encouraging others to do so. Does the newspaper work for plaintiff's attorneys now?  (Mar 31, 2009 | post #2)

More students choosing colleges based on price

So, how long have you worked there? Your ad copy is kind of stale, but I guess all it has to do is fool someone who hasn't gone to college.  (Mar 30, 2009 | post #2)

Transgender student activist at Macalester College honore...

Glad to allow a person to do whatever they want with their body and clothing. Its called freedom. I object to said person forcing other people to do something to accomodate their own particular situation. Its called freedom. So far none of those here who are trumpeting their enlightened superior morality regarding transgender are addressing the fact that they cannot accept what other people want to do, and are intolerant of others who don't agree with them. Its hypocracy, and calling the people you want to force to do something haters or ignorant is merely avoiding the crux of the issue.  (Mar 30, 2009 | post #43)

Did you think nobody would notice you are avoiding the main point--that the freedom of others is taken away to accomodate the wishes of one person? Go ahead and add libertarians to the list. We value freedom from the control of others. Apparently transgenders want the freedom to control others.  (Mar 30, 2009 | post #30)

Look at your own hate and intolerance. Why don't you accomodate people who aren't like you instead? Why does everyone else have to be the way you say they should instead of you being tolerant?  (Mar 30, 2009 | post #25)
