No I won't do Daily Republic they want money per month. I don't like their way of stirring up controversy either too much flaming there. DR is only good for local want ads. The Contra Costa Times have a comment area? SF Gate does!there is a lot of fun over there too all the closet conservatives LOL  (Jan 6, 2011 | post #11)

Solano County's new schools chief seeks community's invol...

Yes Cynic not only did I teach my 4 children to read before Kindergarten, I homeschooled the 2 youngest because the educational system was just getting dumber! I took them on field trips and I taught them basic skills. The 2 oldest, who did graduate from the public school system, are productive members of society with families of their own. The 2 youngest went to college got degrees and have great paying jobs. None of my kids got into drugs, nor did I have the police knocking on my door, nor did I have to deal with any teenage pregnancies. If a couple want children they better remember they are their children's first teachers not someone in a classroom ruled by their peers that are just doing 'their job' to gain a pension screaming that education is all about the money! A child can learn to read without fancy books or people with degrees. All they need is a loving parent who teaches them first at home!  (Jan 4, 2011 | post #11)

Money educates a child? its amazing our great grandparents were able to leave school knowing how to read, write and do math if that is what it was all about! It's not about the money its about parents who can teach their children how to do these simple things at home from the time they are toddlers. Then back-up the teachers in whatever real learning skills they were taught that day. Homework doesn't cost money, nor does the desire to learn, nor parents who are willing to stop playing on their computers and help their children each night on their homework and read to them before they go to sleep at night. These things are all free and until the teacher's union figures that part out there will always be kids that slip through the cracks, uninterested in learning to the point they can't pass simple tests in high school let alone any basic skills test for a good paying job to become productive members of society.  (Jan 4, 2011 | post #1)

Highway 12 crash kills San Ramon woman

Highway 12 is dangerous between the dump and Triolgy but the area by Red Top has signals in several places before you are on that long highway stretch. She could have just turned right at a signal and made a U-turn on the side street. You just don't turn around on Highway 12! This could have all been avoided and nobody would have been hurt. When it comes to some roads you must remind yourself its better to lose a few minutes finding a safe place to turn around than taking a 'short cut'. Patience out there people!  (Dec 29, 2010 | post #2)

Vallejo police seek female suspect in assault case

I suggest they allow the citizens to have gun permits (that doesnt' mean they have to carry but it would be a major deterrent in a town where the police are totally overwhelmed.  (Dec 24, 2010 | post #5)

Organization seeks help on gifts for seniors

Mission Solano provides food and warm beds for countless people left homeless in the current economic situation. They would love to see everyone employed and on their own but until they help those who are having a bad situation. Boys and Girls club is just a hangout for latchkey kids who's folks aren't home after school, they have been known to provide homework help and physical activites better than them getting in trouble. Not all are fake, helping seniors is new to me but it seems they need help when they don't have family that will help them. To buy socks or a warm blanket isn't difficult, neither is a kind heart.  (Dec 18, 2010 | post #3)

Fairfield sisters' stories conflict after fire that kille...

I don't see how the sisters conflict they were outside of the apartment whether they were in the laundry room or not. But I have knocked over candles and though it may burn the carpet in place I never seen it travel to everything else so quickly that you couldn't have smelled the smoke; that is what bothers me the most. Burning material whether it be carpet or couch has a very distinct smell and I can't believe the unrestrained child wouldn't have ran away from the fire in fear or if the door was locked pounded on it for help. That bothers me the most.  (Dec 15, 2010 | post #4)

Vacaville stabbing inquiry continues

Mom's should love their children unconditionally, however, they cannot protect them when they committ violent crimes, be it from under-age drinking or illegal drugs or attacks on neighbors in the early morning hours.  (Dec 14, 2010 | post #5)

Teenager arrested in Vacaville stabbings

"not gang or drug related" that is what they say now but he is 14 years old not a 'know' gang member not a 'known' drug user. It could have been his first time on ecstasy or crack or any of the other evil drugs that lace towns. Let's hope so only because the alternative is that he was evil in intentions. This isn't the first time a boy has stabbed a girl multiple times; sometimes they rape and sometimes the sight of blood stops them from the rape. Praying for all 3 children and that is very hard to do but necessary anger just fuels hate.  (Dec 13, 2010 | post #3)

Fairfield bank robbed, suspects sought

Sadly this kind of thing will be repeated often in todays economy but I really thought the banks with all their video cameras and security guards would have stopped this nonsense completely. At least the bankers in Vacaville were paying attention! I hate thieves they take what they do not earn and think its perfectly okay!  (Dec 9, 2010 | post #2)

Solano County and Bay Area Sikh children report being tea...

The pecking order is never going to go away through some psycho-logy tests, jargon, ad nauseum. The pecking order started when a man decided he wanted the rock the other guy had, or the water rights or the mountain. It's part of being human we don't 'get over' being human we will just channel it another way and it might be worse than a few unkind words at school.  (Dec 2, 2010 | post #12)

Solano County and Bay Area Sikh children report being tea...

Good grief we all have been teased or bullied in school. The only way we got around that was to be sick and out of school for a long time and then they harass you when you get back ! There is no one race or ethnic group that gets this treatment if you watch any old movies kids have been doing this to kids since the public school system was opened'and maybe even in the time of the one room school house! Personalities will clash that is life, you learn to adjust and get over it you are not the only one dealing with it. You talk to adults and learn its normal and life goes on; when you don't tell your parents or a teacher what is going on you will think this is a single incident and you are the only victim in the world. Then depression will set in and worse! Point is you cannot eliminate negative things people say it isn't going to happen.  (Dec 2, 2010 | post #1)
