Drunk-in-the-cockpit tell-all book debuts at Oshkosh air ...

Totally agree. He recklessly, selfishly and consistently endangered the lives of thousands of people, besmirched his employer and co-workers and NOW he has to "tell his story" in the hopes people will feel sorry for him. Shut the F up and go back under the rock you crawled out from under, you arrogant and pompous jerk.  (Aug 3, 2009 | post #30)

Clash in styles led to Dale Tallon's dismissal

That doesn't change the fact the owner of a corporation stated his company discriminated against someone based on age and said so to a newspaper. That is illegal, not to mention dumb.  (Jul 15, 2009 | post #10)

Clash in styles led to Dale Tallon's dismissal

I thought the VERY same thing when I read it. In fact, I had to read it twice since I was so surprised someone would make such an irresponsible statement, to a newspaper no less!  (Jul 15, 2009 | post #9)

Unlikely heroin confession

So why exactly did she feel she needed to tell her story? So people could feel sorry for her and congratulate her on her "accomplishme nt" of living within societal norms and not being a criminal and doing drugs? Please. I don't see how her "tragic" (yet self inflicted) drug abuse would inspire other drug addicts and criminals to repent or for "policy" to be changed either. She basically wants attention. Never heard of the highly selective Sarah Lawrence College either. Now, if she donates 5-10 hours a week volunteering at drug addiction treatment centers, etc. that's a worthy story.  (Jun 14, 2009 | post #26)

Paterno: Invite Rutgers, Pittsburgh or Syracuse to join B...

I failed to mention Wisconsin which also trumps ND. Great computer science and engineering in Mad-town as well. All the engineering schools above are internationally renowned easily offer a better engineering education (undergrad and grad) than ND.  (May 28, 2009 | post #96)

ND can't hold a candle to schools like U of I, Michigan, and Purdue (and probably NW and Penn State) in engineering and business, both undergrad and grad. Iowa, IU and NW have better humanities and writing schools compared to ND. I'm sure one can get a great education at ND, but in the areas above, it can't touch Big Ten schools.  (May 28, 2009 | post #95)

Blackhawks may get 2 key players back for Game 5

The referees do not win or lose games. The players do. "The best team always wins in a 7 game series." - D. Sedin, Vancouver Canucks. Quenneville needs to instill discipline in the Blackhawks. Their headhunting and cheap penalties were asinine. As a long time Hawks fan and season ticket holder I was disappointed by the lack of class displayed by some players. The NHL was right in fining Quenneville. The referees, like Quenneville, are all part of the same business - the NHL. When a co-worker mouths off against another co-worker, publicly, in *any* business there will be repercussions.  (May 26, 2009 | post #63)

Blackhawks may get 2 key players back for Game 5

The Blackhawks were like boys among men on Sunday. Their lack of discipline and immaturity was blatantly evident. I'm a long time Hawks fan and season ticket holder and it was embarrassing. Detroit is better team. They were without three of their best players and still the Blackhawks were dominated. So the season will end on Wednesday unless the Hawks can man-up, stop the ridiculous and petty penalties and play like they did in Game 2 (which I thought was there best game of the series).  (May 26, 2009 | post #61)

Chicago Blackhawks relish Original Six matchup with Detro...

As a long-term Blackhawk fan of more than 30 years I too think the chant is ridiculous. I wince when I hear it. Why on earth Blackhawk fans would shout out that a team that has beaten the Hawks consistently and won 4 Cups over the last 12 years "sucks" is beyond me. It's absolutely moronic and does make Hawk fans look idiotic. Detroit is a class organization which consistently wins in the right way. Most if not all the teams in the NHL emulate Detroit's management and coaching styles. Stan Bowman - who coached the Red Wings to three of those Cup victories (and was also coach in a another Red Wing Finals appearance) - now works in the Blackhawk front office (with his son who is assistant GM). Imitation is the best form of flattery. It will take a valiant effort by the Hawks to beat the Wings but the one great thing about playoff hockey is that anything can happen. Go 'Hawks!  (May 15, 2009 | post #133)

Chicago Cubs lose 4-3 in 9th

Chicago Cubs lose 4-3 in 9th

Then why are you reading about the Cubs and posting articles about them? Stop the drama and whining and go away.  (Apr 10, 2009 | post #59)

A ticked-off Billy Bob Thornton gives a very bad radio in...

He's on drugs. Or out of his mind. Or both. What's with these self-absorbed actors who read dialogue created by someone else for a living suddenly thinking musicians just b/c they can strum a few chords together? Crowe, Sinese, Bacon, now BBT? Just go away and disappear indefinitely. The world will be a better place.  (Apr 10, 2009 | post #50)

Is Corona losing its luster as king of imported beers?

Corona = Crapona. They market it to yuppies who think they are cool b/c they put a piece of fruit in the bottle. Whatever. Fosters is the same. People in Australia don't touch it and you can't even find it in Australia actually. They've convinced gullible Americans it's "Australian " beer. Harp, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams - good mass produced brews. Go to Hopleaf (if you can put up with the pretensiouness of the staff and clientele) on Clark just south of Foster on the North Side for a great selection of ales.  (Apr 10, 2009 | post #31)
