Foster Parents Avoid Charges In Drowning

Ref: #24 Watched the You-tube video on CPS/DHS. Whoa! It is hard to believe, but it's true. They really get Federal bonuses on the adoptions? That is messed up and that's Kentucky!  (Jul 13, 2008 | post #26)

Foster Parents Avoid Charges In Drowning

Oklahoma CPS and DHS has serious problems! They license people to become Foster parents that in some cases are just as bad as the biological parents. Too many times. All we can do is vote for Legislators that we think might do the right thing. This particular agency needs more funds, more staff and more training.  (Jul 12, 2008 | post #21)

Foster Parents Avoid Charges In Drowning

The foster parents should be charged with child neglect. By the state of Oklahoma they had been licensed as foster parents and their home. Been a foster parent myself. Obviously the pool must of been set up after their initial inspection. Probaly no follow-up visit to foster home had been conducted. This is very common. We got one unannounced visit in 3 mos time. The caseworker didn't look around, just sat in the living room. Our foster child was at school, never during the 3 mos even talk or visit with him. We'll never do it.  (Jul 12, 2008 | post #20)

Is that all they get? Around 30k a year, that sucks! Aren't their salaries regulated by the good ole state of Oklahoma?  (Jul 12, 2008 | post #28)

Family Needs Help Finding Loved One

Tulsa Girl, I agree with you. Oklahoma DHS is overworked and understaffed. It's all about priority and funding. The only thing we as citizens can do is go and vote for who we think might do the right thing. Me and my wife tried to help, but their actions turned us off. Sometimes we wonder what happened to our boy, how things turned out for him. We can only hope his mom straightened up and raised them good. He's still in our prayers to this day.  (Jul 12, 2008 | post #27)

Family Needs Help Finding Loved One

I can tell you during our classes to become foster parents, the room was full of people. The whole 6 - 8 weeks. We told them from the get-go we wanted a long term foster child and the opportunity to adopt. You can't tell us they didn't know from the start this was going to be short term. We got called to go to the Okfuskee County DHS office to pick him up. When we arrived they couldn't tell us anything about the boy. The OKC DHS transporter person arrived with him in about half hour. We wanted to know what this child had been thru, so we could do a good job parenting him and help him heal. The only thing she knew was mom had been leaving him & his siblings alone, neighbors complaining, younger sister 3 yrs old burned face on a wall heater and mom did not seek medical care. She stood right there and said that's all she knew. The DHS caseworker I knew personally, he had never been to our home prior to this. Just knew him from around town. Then they just call you one day and say bring him to the DHS office with his stuff, judge is returning him to his mom, can you be here in 2 hours. By God that's exactly how it happened for us less than 10 years ago. We had no time to barely say good-bye. We'll never go there again.  (Jul 12, 2008 | post #26)

Of course not. It really turned us off from ever wanting to foster parent again. Don't get me wrong, we aren't anti-baby. We felt we did not have the stamina to take care of a baby. We were willing to take one 3 yrs old or so. We are both getting older, I have arthritis, etc. The shocker was we didn't get a child from Okfuskee County.  (Jul 12, 2008 | post #24)

Family Needs Help Finding Loved One

Ref: #18 During the 3 months we had the 8 yr old boy from OKC, me and my wife received ONE unannounced visit from DHS to see how things were going in our foster home. We thought how careless of them. She only just set in the living room. Didn't ask to look around, of course didn't talk to the boy, he was at school. Now grant it someone on staff knew us personally, we still thought it was careless.  (Jul 12, 2008 | post #19)

Family Needs Help Finding Loved One

A few years back me & my wife decided to become foster parents in Ofuskee County. Our kids were older and almost grown. I had a personal friend who worked for Ofuskee DHS and he told me they had more children needing foster homes than they had foster homes in our county. So me and my wife go thru the steps and get licensed. We specifically stated we could not take babies. The first 3 times they called us to take a child, they were all three infants. I finally ask "do you people not read our file?" Finally they called us to take a 8 yr old boy from OKC, which we accepted. We had a blast with this kid. They returned him to his mother in 3 months. We of course never heard anything more. We decided we could not work with the Ofuskee County DHS.  (Jul 12, 2008 | post #18)

Mother Arrested In Child Scalding

The mother filed a paternity suit against a Matthew W. Head back in 2007. There's also a protective order case she filed in 2007 against this Matthew Head. Based on these case postings, this Matthew W. Head must be the little boys father. 2 abusive relationships down, and only 22 yrs old. Usually if boyfriend is abusing a child, then his probaly abused the mother as well. ref: www.odcr.com (Ottawa County)  (Jul 12, 2008 | post #21)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but where are all the records of the missing sibling. Can't DHS in that county tell the family their sisters history. By God it should of been documented. They are all grown now, surely they can tell them her whereabouts up until she turned 18.  (Jul 12, 2008 | post #11)
