What good drones we become.

I don't think governing bodies should be allowed to vote for their own raises. For the pressures of the job they may deserve more than what they make but the people they serve generally don't trust them (and probably rightly so). I have pondered for a long time how politicians on the federal level should be paid and how long they should be allowed to serve. There is no perfect answer I guess. What I have come up with that I like so far is that they be paid the amount they received from the job they held while running for office, with a cap of course. Tie their raises to the government index on inflation. I haven't resolved how I would want to handle the state and local politians salaries. I do believe it needs changing so that it is not attractive. Politians should serve for service sake not for the salary.  (Apr 6, 2008 | post #4)

Currituck mid-county bridge to cost $460M

A high rise bridge? Where does that come from? I go over those bridges practically everyday of my life and never felt the need for a high rise. All we need to do is stop openings between 7 and 9 in the a.m. and 5 and 7 in the p.m. They do that all up and down the East Coast. It works. A high rise would cause horrible problems.  (Mar 21, 2008 | post #29)

I don't know that any of what you see is directly across from McPherson Road but, it is very close at the very least. Watch the video in the link http://hamptonroad e-expected-waft-nc  (Feb 12, 2008 | post #4)

2008 Presidential Election

Fred Thompson Quits Presidential Race

If Huckabee gets the nomination I will probably do a write in. I am Southern Baptist and totally unimpressed with him, too many "I will do this but I did that" for me to swallow. I expect a lot more out of a confessed minister than I do others.  (Jan 23, 2008 | post #126)

Senator Fred Smith

I was once a strong supporter of Sen. Smith for Govenor but I can no longer support him. I removed his sticker from my car today and denounced him to two people I had promoted him to. I lost two Fred's today. Very tough day in the political world today for me.  (Jan 22, 2008 | post #1)

Return of America

Blackwater is not doing anything the Constitution denounces that I know of. What I do know it does is protect Americans and American interests.  (Jan 9, 2008 | post #10)

Comment: ACLU files complaint against area judge

We are practically neighbors. I live 26 miles from Blackwater. I do not have the same opinion of the ALCU as you do. We are doing good, 2 for 2, Blackwater and the ALCU.  (Jan 9, 2008 | post #6)

CCHS band director nabbed on sex charges

Just to be clear, my comments were meant to apply if he is convicted in a court of law. I realize accusations aren't reality.  (Jan 9, 2008 | post #6)

Band Teacher Charged With Sex Offenses

Are implying the wife knew about the student or just that they had a difficult marriage?  (Jan 9, 2008 | post #7)
