Pardons don't change Heineman's view on death penalty

I can't imagine the relief they must feel. But after that subsided, I'd feel blind rage at being locked up for that long, had I not actually committed the murder. I think each person should receive 3 or 4 times the national average salary for each year they were locked up. That's a good chunk of their lives that's just completely gone.  (Jan 27, 2009 | post #2)

Early morning shooting injures three teenagers

I wonder what really happened. I'm not ruling it out - but I'm not so inclined to believe that a few friends just randomly go up to a few random people and starts firing at them, for no reason. They were teenagers - why were they out on the streets at 4 am? Maybe I've gotten too cynical, but I'd assume they yelled at a vehicle passing by, or there was some sort of shit talking or botched drug deal.  (Jan 27, 2009 | post #1)

Fired counselor sues Omaha Catholic school

That's pretty screwed up, but then again, she knew who she was working for and probably should have expected something like this. Catholic institutions aren't known for being very relaxed about.. well.. anything. Doesn't help that Nebraska is a right to work state, where you can legally be fired for no reason at all.  (Jan 27, 2009 | post #3)

Omaha Man Indicted, Accused Of Threatening To Kill Barack...

I think this is being blown way out of proportion. If he actually had detailed plans, and the weapons to somehow attempt it, sure, it'd be a bigger deal. But I bet it was just another case of shit-talking that happened to get reported.  (Jan 27, 2009 | post #3)

Omaha Police are looking for three suspects who robbed a ...

Seems like the only successful bank robberies I hear of in Omaha are the ones in the grocery stores. They should consider an armed guard. At least for the locations east of 72nd.  (Jan 27, 2009 | post #1)

Convicted Murderer Can Attend Funeral Of Murdered Son

Hey, it's fine that you miss him. But shit-talking < stealing + selling drugs. When you do scumbag things, people will talk about you like a scumbag.  (Jan 27, 2009 | post #29)

Police ID Victims In Double Slaying; 16-Year-Old Dead

The 16 year old shouldn't have tried to rob him. And the 16 year old shouldn't have shot at a cop a year ago. Or been running around with other criminals. Or he should have been a better shot. He's dead for many reasons.  (Jan 26, 2009 | post #3)

Run Of Robberies Continue

So you think that if the economy was going well, this guy would have been somewhere working for an honest living, rather than performing the robbery?  (Jan 20, 2009 | post #5)

Yeah, I thought that was a little strange, myself. Give it a few more years and we might start to agree, though. Between the company North O keeps, or any other expanding that Omaha decides to do.  (Jan 20, 2009 | post #4)

Jacksonville drug-suspect teacher gets reassigned

Smoking a joint is no worse than having the occasional six pack of beer. Investigations, charges, trials, and everything else is a huge drain on taxpayer's money.  (Jan 18, 2009 | post #1)

Lawmaker Wants Jail Time for Neb. Speeders

Seems kind of like a waste of time. Very few people actually go higher than 100 mph. Sure, one day in jail for that kind of speed sounds fair to me... but how often does that actually happen?  (Jan 18, 2009 | post #1)

The Douglas County attorney says a north Omaha business o...

It feels almost sick to say this, but it sounds like they got what was coming to them. At least they won't cost taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars sitting in jail for the next 20 years for attempted murder, only to get out and do some stupid shit again. The younger guy that got killed was already in hot water for taking a shot at a cop. He could have straightened up and learned his lesson, since he got lucky and wasn't tried as an adult, but he ended up using his golden ticket as toilet paper.  (Jan 18, 2009 | post #1)

You're in North Omaha. You're open late and past dark. You sell "grillz. " How would you not see something like this coming?  (Jan 18, 2009 | post #1)
