Bush's problem was that he did not push even harder for capitalism. The more free the trade, the more trade you get.  (Aug 25, 2011 | post #5)

Libyan draft Constitution: "Islam is the Religion of the ...

Hell of a racket they got there. Obligated to travel thousands of miles to walk around a silly stone mumble some non sense, then go back home and kill some infidels to get into heaven. Barnum Baily said there's a sucker born every minute but with a billion of them and counting I figure it's up to one every second at this point.  (Aug 25, 2011 | post #42)

Explaining the true message of Islam

They all believe in one God but not the same one. Christianity has it's share of evil done in it's name but consider this: it had to be strong enough to resist Islam and yet free enough to allow science to blossom. That is exactly what happened. Now that men in the West have a void in their lives as to what to believe Islam is moving to fill that void with it's usual evil. Not every man is strong enough to face the harsh reality of a godless universe and a mortal end. If there are no Gods men will invent them anyways so long as we remain mortal. The real question is what do you fill the void with, the proven evil of Islam, or the workable doctrine of something else.  (Aug 24, 2011 | post #7480)

[i who="musa imran"]Sharia h law is God's Law and it is Best for all of us. Mohammad was an evil man. He was a pedophile, a pervert, a liar and a killer. Taking the words and acts of such a man and ascribing them to God is an insult to God. Grief is the only thing following the words of such a man will bring and that is what they have brought. Only the constant drumbeat of lies and all the time and lives wasted in following Mohammad keep his evil alive and growing. And respect the decision of the Libyan people. I cannot and will respect evil. Because in doing this, they strive to please God, and to have a better life, themselves. Things are never done to please the West, for your information, as you always assume. You are not following God's law , you are following the lies of an evil man. It is for your own sake and your people that you should find another way We all know that the West will strive to see that the whole World is covered in immorality, homo sexuality, pornography, name it. Cause they have already lost their culture and want even the excellent cultures inspired by Islam to suffer a similar fate. The West has lost it's way but it's because of the corrupting nature of power, not because of the weakness of it's founding ideas. It has only to return to those ideas to fix it.But Islam will always be on top. Learn to live with it, Obama, and Co. Obama hates the basic ideals of that made America free just as much as any of its enemies. That is why he has been so terrible for the country. He's also a very dishonest man which makes him extra dangerous. I'd like to see him gone as well.  (Aug 24, 2011 | post #32)

You are arguing over where the bottom of the barrel is. If not for oil Saudi Arabia would be nearly as poor as Zimbabwe, and Arabia will run out of oil someday.  (Aug 24, 2011 | post #31)

England's prison population swells to record level

If Britain limited itself to the rule of law and national defense the taxes would not be high. As a welfare state the taxes are high by necessity .Most states end up as welfare states because politicians become politicians in a desire for power. They get power by buying and selling favors. The mistake is to give them that power in the first place. If government was limited to simply maintaining the rule of law and it was illegal to throw money around at anyone by whim everyone would end up much richer because the money would stay in the hands of those who proved their productiveness by creating wealth in the first place. The other issue you mention is foreign trade. If you can buy something cheaper overseas then do so! That's more stuff for the people at home. It only becomes an issue because the good is spread out but the hurt is small and localized. See this link for more: http://www.cato.or g/pub_display.php? pub_id=5354  (Aug 24, 2011 | post #12)

Still better than North Korea. It would be better still if it was as free as Hong Kong once was.  (Aug 24, 2011 | post #3)

Why Obama deserves to be re-elected.

While it was not part of his intention Obama has awoken the sleeping giant of American's historic passion for liberty. Now that the giant has been rudely disturbed by Obama's socialist induced depression the people realized the grave error they made and it's time for America's worst President to go home.  (Aug 22, 2011 | post #13)

England's prison population swells to record level

The real test of validity of any rule is this: can you agree with it if you don't know on which side you will fall? I could make a rule that says "all wealth belongs to me" but if I'm on the other side, that is the person handing over the wealth ,it fails. Shooting somebody for something less than murder fails this test.  (Aug 22, 2011 | post #8)

Islam is the official religion of many states. Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan are examples of that. They are also example of places most people would rather not live there.  (Aug 22, 2011 | post #6)

Your thoughts on government cuts

The Constitution is not a suicide pack. There really are people that come here whose sole concern is to destroy it. Furthermore there really are people who come here to get the goodies without having to work for it, wither legally though welfare or illegally as in criminals. The Constitution only works when the citizens for the most part believe in moral law , that is, do not steal. When you invite in a bunch of looters and thieves merely because they will vote for you , ruin is only a matter of time.  (Aug 22, 2011 | post #8106)

The real power in in the legislature. They say what is spent or cut. That has been in Democrat hands for Decades. As for California governors the last one who consistently defended free markets was Reagan. The others were merely democrat light versions. California use to be a very rich state but I knew it was headed for the fall because statist ideas of redistribution were popular there. Socialism fails every time it is tried, but the excuses for it never end. That's because Politicians want to fool people into believing a free lunch is possible.  (Aug 22, 2011 | post #8101)

How many poor people have you gotten a job from? Wealth is not a zero sum game. It can be created and destroyed. In a free market those who get rich, get rich because those who they traded with found value in what the trade. In an unfree world (which America is rapidly moving towards) political pull is how you get rich. It's not a coincidence the rich are getting richer now, because they have the pull. You will never get an equal distribution of wealth nor should you try because those who make the rules become the rich and unlike the productive ones who had to earn it they only offer a gun in your face.  (Aug 22, 2011 | post #8091)

Zimbabwe gives foreign firms 14-day empowerment ultimatum

Zimbabwe is a classic example of what NOT to do. Mugabe is a dictator. It all started out with the dream of taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Theft, however noble sounding one tries to dress it up , is still looting and ruin is always the end result. Making stealing legal only increases the level of destruction such a contradiction of moral law brings. Now Mugabe routinely steals the most precious item of all: the lives of his citizens.  (Aug 22, 2011 | post #4)
