ONE reason Homosexuality is wrong?

You have just committed the red herring logical fallacy. You are attempting to insult me while ignoring the points that I made in my argument.  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #100)

ONE reason Homosexuality is wrong?

Since you probably don't watch real news, you probably don't know that the Catholic church is upset with the nuns right now for putting their energy toward helping the poor rather than yelling at homosexuals. The Catholic church is also notorious for child molestation and rape. Heterosexuals rape and molest children all the time. Perverts are everywhere. "I for one wold rather see you perverts provided a cage where you can go for it, decked out with topic and facebook connections all the things you want...just caged up so you cant get to the young and innocent..... " I would rather see bible-thumping bigots such as yourselves made sterile so that you could no longer reproduce. That way, people with your attitude would eventually die out (which will inevitably happen anyway). You could no longer influence innocent children to hate others for no logical reason. The world in turn would be in a step toward the right direction.  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #99)

Men's Attack on Women Continues

2012 is a record breaking year for abortion restrictions. There have been a ridiculous number of new laws and regulations that are disproportionaly aimed toward women. In Arizona, a law was proposed that would force women to prove to their employers that they were using birth control for non-sexual purposes. Elsewhere, doctors have been granted permission to lie to women about the health of their fetuses so that they will not get an abortion. Other humiliating, degrading restrictions such as unnecessary trans-vaginal ultrasounds and 24 hour waiting periods exist for women wanting to get an abortion. Many employer's insurance covers Viagra and penis pumps but does not cover birth control pills. The Violence Against Women Act as well as the Equal Pay Act were both stuck down. The GOP has repeatedly attacked Planned Parenthood, an organization that provides birth control and free cancer screenings and breast exams to low-income women. To keep Planned Parenthood, it costs the average US family a whopping 25 cents a year out of their taxes. The war on women is not made up. There are even Republicans who are shocked by the behavior of the GOP. You have some nerve to say that lefties make up fictional wars when right-wingers claim that there is a "war on Christmas".  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #6)

What is wrong with being Racist?

Can you give me a link to the study that found that Blacks were the most racist people in the world? Last time I checked, it was the white people who have always been enslaving people, running others out of their native land, converting others to their religion with the threat of death, etc. Anyway, think about what you are saying! Racism exists where education does not (*Ususally. Not all uneducated people are racist and not all educated people are not racist, but there have been studies showing a correlation between education and racism) So say a white person does take a stroll down Woodward after dark. He/she may get mugged/called names/so on and so forth. But that is about the equivalent of a black person taking a stroll through a trailer park in Alabama in the middle of the night. Racism is not inherently based on race.  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #22)

Thanks for posting this. I wish more people would acknowledge the GOP's war on women.  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #4)

ONE reason Homosexuality is wrong?

Even sex between two heterosexuals with no STD's can cause vaginal bruising/scarring/ tearing if the woman is not well lubricated. Anal sex with plenty of lube and the use of protection (or between two individuals with no STD's) is virtually safe. Also, people have kinky weird sex that is unhealthy or borderline unhealthy all the time. (Erotic asphyxiation, shitting on each other, double fisting...) but I, nor anyone else, should give a fuck what two consenting adults do with their bodies.  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #93)

ONE reason Homosexuality is wrong?

If you oppose homosexuality because the Bible says so, you must also oppose: 1. Shaving (Leviticus 19:27) ‎2. Cursing (Ephesians 5:4) 3. Gossip (Leviticus 19:16) 4. Football on Saturdays (Exodus 20:8) 5. Eating Lobster (Leviticus 11:10) ‎6. Eating Pork (Leviticus 11:7) ‎7. Cotton/Polyester Blends (Leviticus 19:19) ‎8. Associating with Women Who Are on Their Periods (Leviticus 15:19-20) Maybe you shouldn't just oppose these things, but protest against them and try to put laws in place that prohibits them... just to be fair.  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #92)

ONE reason Homosexuality is wrong?

I don't understand why it is so goddamn difficult for some religious people to comprehend the fact that not everyone in the world agrees with your personal religious philosophy or your interpretation of it. No two people agree with every aspect of the way things ought' to be, but rather than agree to disagree, the religious group who is more capable of obtaining political status get to be the one who creates legislature that affects everyone else's lives. When I read this, the first thing I saw was "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" and I face palmed. This is the most pathetic excuse for an argument against homosexuality in existence, and I have the misfortune of coming across it time and time again. Some religious folks like this retort because it is simple and it rhymes, but in a real debate you would get points for neither. First of all, this "argument " assumes to much. It assumes that the person that the person you are arguing with not only believes in god, but YOUR god. It also assumes that the fact that your god made Adam and Eve, and not two men or two women, means that he disapproves of homosexuality. The second part of your retort was almost as bad. You assume that sex is only okay if it is for procreation. What about men and women who are incapable of making children? Are they not allowed to have sex? What about people who use contraceptives? Are they not allowed sex? What about older couples? Are they not allowed to have sex? Furthermore, do you only have sex to procreate?  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #91)

ONE reason Homosexuality is wrong?

There are health risks with any type of sex. Eating McDonald's everyday or smoking cigarettes is also unhealthy. Do you propose that we make legislation against those activities as well?  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #87)

why would a 40 yr old KC teacher date a 20 year old forme...

Hmm... as a future teacher I can't ever imagine doing something like that, but still, this whole topic just seems like gossip that is none of our business. They are both of age, and he is no longer her student. Let them live their lives.  (Jun 24, 2012 | post #38)

What does feminism and sexism mean to you?

I'm not trying to start a debate, but I was just wanted to ask a few questions concerning the subject of feminism and sexism. (Your sandwich and kitchen jokes are very clever, but I want you to know that I already expect them.) 1. Do you consider yourself a feminist? 2. Do you think that sexism (toward men or women) is still an issue in the US? 3. Should women be drafted for war? 4. Should women be able to fight in combat in the military? 5. Is it acceptable for a woman to physically harm her significant other? 6. Is it more acceptable for a man to have multiple sexual partners than for a woman to have multiple sexual partners? 7. Should a woman have to have her husband's permission to get her tubes tied? 8. Should a woman receive birth control coverage from her health insurance? 9. Is it a woman's fault for getting raped if she was drunk? 10. Is it a woman's fault for getting raped if she was dressed provocatively? 11. Should fathers get equal visitation rights if he is a fit parent? 12. Would it make you uncomfortable if your child's kindergarten teacher was a man? 13. Can a woman be president? 14. Should women play football too? 15. Should women's sports team get as much hype as men's sports teams? 16. Could a woman coach a male sports team? 17. Should a woman take her husband's last name? 18. Should women have to undergo regulations and restrictions when seeking an abortion? (i.e. 24 hour waiting period, trans vaginal ultrasounds) 19. Should a woman be expected to do the majority of the housework, even if both she and her husband have a career? 20. Is it wrong for a woman to breastfeed in public if they are covered? That's all I can think of for now. Remember, these question are asking for your personal opinion, not asking the current state of things of what society deems acceptable.  (Jun 24, 2012 | post #1)

Knox County needs to be zoned to prevent an increase in c...

From someone who has studied criminology at UK, this suggestion would not work. I'll tell you why: 1. First of all, the violent crime rate in Knox County isn't that bad. Property crime and drug abuse is everywhere, not just here and not just in poor areas. In fact, these types of crimes are actually much more rampant in urban areas than in rural areas. We do have a bit of a problem with consensual crime (i.e. drug abuse), but these crimes are more or less "victimless " in the sense that they do not cause harm to you or your family. 2. Crime is the result of poverty and social disorganization. Poverty and social disorganization is the result of a poor economy as well as the lack of jobs, community, and education, and a flawed justice system. So who are going to move to Knox County and build these large houses when there are no jobs in Knox County to make a life? No one. 3. Even though poverty causes (most) crime, the majority poor people are not criminals. In fact, a large number of UCR Part 1 criminals (criminals who commit crimes under what the FBI considers the most violent or damaging types of crimes) are what are called chronic offenders--a small number of people who are the ones committing the crimes over and over again. 4. Jails and prisons are actually a way that poor counties in the Appalachian region make money through tax revenues. Prisons aren't built in these counties because there are a large number of criminals in these counties. 5. You forgot about white-collar crime. Occupational and corporate crime causes much more widespread financial damage, injury and death than any other type of crime. These criminals are usually very wealthy and wear suits--not the sort of people who live in trailers. If you don't think that corporate crime is relevant to everyday life, think of all of the coal miners in Eastern Kentucky who face injury, sickness, and death daily due to the coal companies ignoring and violating safety regulations to save money.  (Jun 24, 2012 | post #8)

What would it take for you to give up religion?

Hmm... I certainly don't want to start an off topic debate, but climate change is not man made. The earth has definitely experienced an average of a 1 degree temperature rise and most people will agree with this. The only real debatable part of the issue is whether or not this was caused by human activities or if it is a natural shift in temperature.  (Jun 24, 2012 | post #5)
