Worm-infested toy yanked from Meijer

Yep, that will happen, as soon as... 1. Shareholders of the American companies that import the products stop demanding profitability 2. Labor unions stop driving up the costs for these companies so it doesn't cost 2, 3, etc times more to manufacture the products in the US 3. American consumers stop demanding lower price products on the shelves of the stores and decide to pay the higher price for a product that is pretty comparable in quality. (Twice the price for slightly increased quality doesn't really make sense either) It is economics. A lot of the comments on here simply state, "Buy American" but that is just not going to happen. Consumers demand low prices, US has high labor rates/manufacturin g costs, those two things don't add up. We could go the route of many other countries around the globe where the import duties are so high that it actually becomes cheaper to manufacture domestically. The problem there is once again, the US consumer is not going to pay the higher price for the products. Would it be nice for everyone to be able to buy American, sure, but it just isn't realistic. What companies really need to do is improve their quality control to prevent these types of mishaps.  (Apr 9, 2009 | post #82)

Michigan State beats Louisville 64-52

Yeah, you're probably right. Izzo is a joke, he hasn't done much in his 14 years at MSU... 12 straight NCAA tourney appearances 8x Sweet 16 6x Elite 8 5x Final 4 5x Big Ten Championship Overall Record of 335-136. I can't believe he still has a job. It is also funny that you say there are no truly great players this year. Blake Griffin, Dujuan Blair, Tyler Hansboro, Ty Lawson, Eric Maynor, etc, etc.  (Mar 29, 2009 | post #15)

Gunshots reported at Craig's Cruisers

While I do not consider myself a racist, I would assume that the people involved in the "fracas" were young African American males. This has nothing to do with any race being better or worse than another race, it has more to do with statistics and probability (defintion - Probability: the relative possibility that an event will occur, as expressed by the ratio of the number of actual occurrences to the total number of possible occurrences). The truth of the matter is that the vast majority of the shooting incidents in the GR area are from guns being carried by young African American males. I live on the SE side of GR and a high number of these incidents occur in this part of town. This is not racism, it is very simple probability. It is similar to a scenario where there is a headline stating "There was a shooting after a fracas at a meth lab." I would bet the shooter was a piece of white trash. It is all about betting when the odds are in your favor and both of the above scenarios are pretty safe bets.  (Mar 7, 2009 | post #65)

Getting to Grandma's may be tricky

I saw the accident with the white truck, that guy was driving like a **** . He was going between 30-40 in the left turn lane when someone pulled into the left turn lane. He was going so fast that not only did he hit the car that pulled in front of him but plowed all the way through the two right lanes of traffic and hit a few other cars. I hope he loses his license.  (Dec 24, 2008 | post #15)

Obama takes Michigan

If only these "facts" would have been available sooner, Obama would not have been elected. It is good to see someone who has taken the time to do some research right in their own email inbox rather than just believing what someone says. Thank goodness there is a forward option with email, how else would we all stay informed?  (Nov 5, 2008 | post #266)

First of all, who says we are a country of Christians? We are the land of liberty meaning, we have the freedom to make our own choices including religions. As far as being pro-choice, it does not make you pro-abortion. I myself am pro-choice but know that if I was in a situation where I was facing an "unwanted " pregnancy, I would choose to keep the baby. Pro-choice just means that we don't feel we are the ones that should play God. If you choose to have an abortion, then perhaps you will have something to deal with on your judgment day. You should check out the book Freakonomics as well, there has been a decrease in violent crime since we have had the freedom to choose. The risk of aborting the fetus with a cure of any disease is more than likely, quite low.  (Nov 5, 2008 | post #234)

While I appreciate the lesson in theology, you missed the point. Is only a Christian fit to be president? Could a Buddhist, Muslim, Jew, Agnostic or even Atheist not do a good job as president? The presidency is exactly like a CEO position of a large corporation, could only a Christian be a good CEO? While I agree with your sentiment that many people call themselves Christians but are in fact not followers (George W. Bush), it has no relevence on their ability to run a country or corporation. In reagards to last comment that "God is still in control." If your God is in control, then you should have nothing to worry about, it must have been He that made people vote for Obama.  (Nov 5, 2008 | post #229)

You may want to get your facts straight before you just believe every email that someone forwards you. If you believe all of those emails, then I have a great mortgage rate for you and I also can get you a $99 disney vacation, oh and let's not forget, there are some great ways to enlarge your...well nevermind. It would take you about 2 minutes to discover the claims that you make are not true, just do a little research. As far as taking God out of the country, not sure if you are aware of some of the founding principles of our nation but separation of church and state is right up there. Along with our freedom of religion, comes our freedom from religion and as soon as people stop trying to play God in politics, we will be a lot better off. Let whoever your God is make the decision on judgment day. As far as your claim that Obama doesn't believe in God, he is a Christian, regardless of what your other emails have told you. Even if he weren't, why does it matter?  (Nov 5, 2008 | post #150)

Biden, Palin debate in St. Louis

Yes the democrats are looking for handouts and want the government to fix things. Who proposed the bailout? How well did the lack of government in the last 8 years of a republican white house work out for us? Everyone complains about "all Biden talked about was the last 8 years," of course they talk about it because the last 8 years is why we are where we are. He also gave real numbers and facts as opposed to just saying "We're straight talking mavericks! We are going to change Washington. Wall Street corruption... " She never actually talked about solutions because she doesn't know any or understand any of the problems. I don't think the Democrats were worried about Biden being shown up by a woman. Carrot Top couldn't be shown up by Palin. I am just amazed that anyone would still vote for McCain knowing who would take over if something were to ever happen to him. Also, if you can't even pronounce a simple three syllable word that is pronounced 100% phonetically, how intelligent can you be? N-U-C-L-E-A-R, pretty easy.  (Oct 3, 2008 | post #199)

Candidate withdraws after confirming affair

None of these people did this because they are republican or because they are democrat. They do it because they are self righteous, pompous, slimeball politicians. Being an honorable politican with high morals is like being the skinny kid at fat camp. You need to worry about the issues the parties/candidates support/oppose when voting because regardless of how great they appear, the skeletons will come out, the bathroom toe tapping will commence, someone will talk about the affair, the former drug buddy will speak, it is just a matter of time.  (Jul 27, 2008 | post #149)

If your dog has the ability to acknowledge their devotion to you and enter into the contract of marriage with you then more power to you. I personally don't like to be in bed with someone with a hairy back but to each his own. It will be tough for him to sign his name on the marriage license so it may not work out. Wait, that would be ridiculous, a man marrying a male dog, that is too close to homosexual, that is too far. Real marriage is about being commited to one person forever. There goes your 3 person marriage. It is to be shared with someone that you have an emotional, spritual (whatever spritual means to you) and physical bond with. If that happens to be you with your sister, then that should be your choice. If anyone is able to share their life with someone who shares an unconditional love with them, it is an amazing thing and they are incredibly lucky. Who are we to judge whether or not it is okay for them to love someone based on their sex, race, religion, etc. "No that can't be your soul mate, they are the same sex, they are black, they are jewish, etc, etc." Choose to live your life the way you see fit and worry about the actions of others that actually may have a negative impact on you, your family, your community or your country. I seriously doubt that who you, your neighbor, someone you see on tv, the cashier at the gap, or anyone else enters a commited relationship with fits that description. Take care and I hope you someday are able to open your mind a little bit, relax and focus on things that really matter.  (Jul 25, 2008 | post #212)
