Most often the target are the Bully breeds, dogs that are Pit Bulls (see below). Pit Bull Chained to a Wall Stops a Murder

The dog's name is Legion. Legion had been kept chained to a bedroom wall for around 18 hours a day on most days. He was not supposed to be in the apartment, and so if he barked or made any noise, he was beaten. He had to potty right in the same place he laid, and the house reeked of urine and feces. He had never been vaccinated, and was not neutered. He was just over two. Recently, during a domestic dispute, the man had tried to smother the woman in her bed, with their newborn baby in the cradle beside the bed, and Legion ripped the chain from the wall and bit the man. http://www.care2.c om/causes/pit-bull -chained-to-a-wall -stops-a-murder-an d-now-needs-a-home .html Dog like this who do the right thing even when they are abused are worthy of all our respect!  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #1)

Rescued Pit Bull Saves Owner’s Life

An animal lover in New Jersey who rescued a pit bull from a drug house got the ultimate “pay it forward” moment when the 1-year-old pup saved her life. Dona Timoney, of Beachwood, N. J., was walking the dog, Lilly, last Friday through a state park when the woman suffered a “medical event,” Berkeley Township Detective Sgt. James Smith told Patch.com. The quick-thinking dog left her still breathing but unconscious owner on the path while she went to seek help. The dog took off down a path in the area’s Double Trouble State Park and encountered Frank Delarosa who was walking on the same path. While Delarosa attempted to take Lilly back to his office, the dog had other plans and pulled the man back to the location where her owner, Timoney, had fallen ill, according to Patch. Delarosa found Timoney, 51, still breathing and called rescuers who soon arrived on the scene and transported her to a nearby medical center. Timoney was later airlifted to another medical center for treatment, Det. Will Cullen, who responded to the scene, told Patch. While Timoney’s condition is not known, Lilly, whom she rescued from a drug house in North Carolina, is safe in the hands of Timoney’s daughter. “The back of her car was filled with treats and bones,” Cullen told Patch of Timoney. “She’s obviously an avid animal lover.” Calls placed by ABCNews.com to the Berkeley Township Police Department were not returned. Attempts to locate Delarosa and Timoney’s daughter were not successful. http://abcnews.go. com/blogs/headline s/2012/06/rescued- pit-bull-saves-own ers-life/  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #1)

Stray pitbull saves Mom and child from attacker

Pitbulls are AMAZING WONDERFUL pets! Back in January, a woman named Angela and her two-year-old son were playing on a playground in Port Charlotte, Florida. As the two were leaving the park and entering the playground, a man with a knife attempted to attack the mother and child. It was then that a stray pit bull that had been running around the park came to the family’s rescue. The sixty-five pound pit bull charged at the knife-wielding man and scared him off. Shaken, Angela jumped in her car with her son. Still shaken from the incident, she was even more surprised to see that the pit bull had followed her into her backseat. The courageous pit bull who had scared off her potential attacker had wanted to go home with her too. Angela named the stray dog “Angel” because she believes it is her guardian angel. She plans to adopt the dog if no one comes forward to claim it. http://www.inquisi tr.com/205846/stra y-pit-pull-saves-m other-and-child-fr om-knife-wielding- attacker/  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #1)
