Patrick Swayze checks into hospital with pneumonia

I agree. There were about 3 questions she asked that should have not been asked. When she asked his wife if she had thought how it would be without him I couldn't believe it. She got too personal not to mention the cameras and microphones in their faces. Interview or not some things should be off limits, she was just looking for a sensational interview. I don't think much of Barbara Walters anymore, she and the View need to get off the air. It was apparent that the Swayze's were trying to get thru this with a positive attitude and she kept trying to bring them down. Best of luck for Patrick and his family, they did the interview with class.  (Jan 10, 2009 | post #23)

Smoking

Illinois smoking ban: 1 year later

My comment was made after reading your other posts and the comments and attitude you have just because someone is a smoker. I have nothing against blue collar or bartenders. If I was concerned with shs I wouldn't look for a job in a casino or bar, common sense- however in Illinois it doesn't matter anymore with the state ban. Just worry about getting laid off because there's not as much business. It's odd that you put down smokers constantly but elevate someone else to career bartender. How do you classify a career smoker/bartender?  (Jan 9, 2009 | post #503)

New study provides more impetus for smoking bans

That would be a great way to go for all of us, still in charge of our lives and doing things we liked. I wish you the same as your Grandma. __:o)  (Jan 9, 2009 | post #66)

Maybe the bartender should get educated and get a job in an office or most places that are non smoking. A "career" bartender in Illinois- nice.  (Jan 9, 2009 | post #460)

We camped for years, you must not see the haze from all the campfires in a campground???? The wind changes do you move constantly accordingly? There is no clean air anymore, we eat and drink chemicals every single day. I'm going to live my life and enjoy doing things that others have done for generations like weiner roasts, grilling out etc. What are you saving yourself for to live to a ripe old age in a nursing home? We disagree and that's fine.  (Jan 8, 2009 | post #38)

The smokers weren't for the ban but were shoved outside (in all weather)if we wanted to smoke. There were bans in public buildings and most other places except for restaurants and bars. Now somebody wants to gripe about the air outside-- in a park? You say it still wouldn't be good enough for the smokers, I think you have things backwards.  (Jan 8, 2009 | post #405)

We all had those "tiny little lungs" at one time and some of us long before the smoking bans. Somehow the baby boomers are still alive. I assume you don't let your children experience weiner roasts, grilling out, sitting in front of a fireplace, campfire, go to summer festivals with all the smokey grills? Do you keep them away from car exhaust- how do you walk to your car in parking lots.....and the list goes on!  (Jan 8, 2009 | post #26)

Yes when the Illinois ban started last year I could tell immediatly, and yes I'm a smoker. Not many cars in the parking lots of restaurants and few on the streets. People (like me) are staying home more and restaurants were cutting employees hours or laying them off. When I do go out instead of spending the evening I will go on home where I can relax and smoke. I don't intend to stand outside a business to smoke a cigarette. The casinos are hurting big time and not just from the economy- it started with the ban. There is usually one place in the small towns you can smoke and the local police look the other way. Your attitude towards smokers says more about you- must be an EX-smoker?? How PATHETIC you sound...  (Jan 7, 2009 | post #355)

You'll know when you get your 1st one! It won't stay lite, the fireball has a tendancy to fall off occasionally and there are more ashes everywhere you smoke one. Also most people are saying the taste isn't the same.  (Jan 7, 2009 | post #9)

I found the site and signed the petition then sent it on in my emails. These fire safe cigarettes are anything but safe. Hopefully enough people will take the time to go to that site and sign.  (Jan 7, 2009 | post #8)

I was watching it and I have the same opinion of that interview that you do. I think Sarah saw it and felt it too and that's why she got flustered, I would have. I doubt such a likeable person is used to be treated that way. I would guess Couric was jealous of Sarah having the attention and Couric is a plain Jane compared to Sarah. Why- and they had to know how she felt- they let Couric interview her is beyond me. To some Sarah "flubbed " the interview, but to those of us that could see through what was happening Couric made a you know what out of herself!  (Dec 8, 2008 | post #1429)
