Because that requires actual work it seems, they only spend all of our resources going after petty bullshit that isn't hurting anything other then the government not being able to tax it. Cockfights,Moonshi ne,Gambling in a backroom, all things that they have no control over getting them to pay taxes on it. So they send in their goon squad to spend 10's of thousands of dollars investigating. cause its something that they might actually be able to do. Heaven forbid they get the drugs off the streets and the ppl killing others over a pair of shoes or less. That would just make to much sense (May 29, 2008 | post #42)

While I do agree that some of this that goes on is wrong. I come from a state (Louisiana) that just last year outlawed Cockfighting. You talk about ppl being humane. Unless you are a Vegetarian you contribute to animal cruelty every time you sit down to eat. We consume 1000's of pounds of meat each a year. Do you think they put them to sleep before killing them? your on the Internet, search online for animal butchering and you can see just what is really done, its FAR greater then any Cockfighting i have ever witnessed. Don't think I'm a leaf eater either, I hunt,fish and eat more then my share. But don't go judging ppl for something that is keeping them a roof over their head (yes there is HUGE money in Cockfighting) I mean damn its a freaking Chicken! why are you not Boycotting KFC??? What happen to babysitters? When I was growing up there was never a shortage of teenage babysitters trying to earn a few bucks. Seems like today its almost impossible to find them. The ones you do find are adults that want to charge you more then most ppl in the working world make an hour!. The couple "Sitters " I have met with wanted $13 to $15 an hour or more to watch your 5 yr old at your house. With them eating your food,surfing on your computer, talking on your phone. Hell all they have to do is sit there and make sure your child is fed and doesn't hurt himself for the most part. Yet they still wanna charge you out the ass. Seems teens dont need the money anymore cause their parents give them everything they want. Hell me and my wife havent been out since we moved to Greeneville 2 yrs AGO without our son. It would be nice to get out and do Adult stuff but we cant seem to find someone to babysit without charging $80.00 a night. (Apr 28, 2008 | post #1)

The rating sites spoke of doesnt always reflect the truth. I moved to Greeneville two years ago due to Hurricane Katrina. I loved the area so decided to buy here. Little did I know just how bad the School System is. I know there are many variables and some Schools are better then others here. Mosheim Elementary is the only one I have dealt with. My Son went to Pre-K there and then started Kindergarten there. 2 Months into the School Year he got a Compound Fracture in his leg from "walking down the hall" According to the teachers at first, Which once I showed them the Doctors report stating from 2 Doctors that is almost impossible to have a break such as his from walking they changed their story to they "didnt really see it happen". Stories changed and changed and they refused to take responsibility for the accident. Even the School Nurse was asking us "if we ever found out what really happen". They even had the guts to say they were glad we had insurance to cover it! He was out of school for 5 months and we had to force them to send a teacher to our home once a week. Then they wanted us to hold him back. It was never ending. I got fed up with them, Started looking to Home School. Found a nice Private Christian School that you can Home School out of and not have to still deal with the County School System. Of Course the Principle and Teachers at Mosheim said they can do better then we can. (Actual Words out of their Mouths) So I asked His Teacher what type of Education she had, she said it wasnt really any of my business. After pushing more on her she stated she had a General Education Degree. Now Myself, I have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and my Wife has a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. Who do you think is better qualified to teach my Son? I think it can go without saying there. Bottom Line don’t just “settle” on your Childs education, the School System isn’t always the best route. If possible look into other avenues. Its not always the school system, our Government has cut back the funding to schools so much they system has to hire “less then standard teachers” to educate our kids. But that doesn’t give them the right to tell you or teach your child what “they” think is best. Always have an active role in your Childs education. You wont regret it. (Apr 24, 2008 | post #4)
