Coal

Does anyone know what happened to the large chunk of coal that was on the side of 903 at the Carbon/Monroe County line? It was as large as the one in the center of Jim Thorpe.  (Jul 15, 2013 | post #1)

Are The Villages the best place to retire in Florida?

There doesn't seem to be any political or sexual condemnation in The villages. It is more judgmental of seniors by the new Baby boomers. Many of these ooze the aura of privilege.  (Mar 25, 2013 | post #198)

police bloter

What ever happened to the sheriff's arrest blotter that was published weekly in the Villages Daily Sun? A representative of the Sun told me that they dropped the column but would publish this information daily in The Villages Suns Daily Briefs column but I have yet to see any in over two weeks. If you were/are also interested in this column you should call the Sun and express your wishes.  (Mar 17, 2013 | post #1)

Who Made the Decision Not to Save My Son?

It has been a long time since I posted anything on this forum but I felt that I would be amiss if I let the last incident go without commenting. As a senior and voting for more than 50 years, for candidates that have won and some that have lost, I have never felt as strongly against a candidate. The actions of this administration causes one to wonder if we are not already lost. Their actions are a disgrace to us and humanity. The actions of this administration in Libya is an absolute slap in the face of all our military and State department employees. After Obama called Romney a bullshit artist Neal Caputo said on his Fox Business show tonight. "I can't call the president a big fat liar, he's not fat." The end  (Oct 26, 2012 | post #14)

Local voters fret over not being able to pull lever

Just who is it that doesn’t have photo ID’s? Seniors have to have ID to use Medicare, drivers need to have a driving license, and hunters and fishermen must also have a photo ID. http://www.co.lawr ence.pa.us/treasur er/license_applica tions/license_appl ications.html All others may purchase a PA photo ID card from below. http://www.dmv.sta te.pa.us/driverlic ensephotoidcenter/ obtainingphotoid.s html  (Aug 3, 2012 | post #68)

Anti Obama! Must be racist!!!!!!

Blacks lead congressional walk out on Eric Holders contempt of Congress action. So just who's the racists now? They, the Dems don't care that their man is breaking the law just that he's black. The new definition of a Democrat is PANDERER. The left doesn’t want Holder held accountable because he is just another poor black man that the Republicans are picking on.  (Jul 2, 2012 | post #11)

Monroe mom and dad too drunk to feed son, police say

Below is a letter I sent to letters editor/Pocono Record: It may seem a little outrageous until you read to the end. Dear Editor: This is a comment on Erin DeRosa's blog in your newspaper. I would like to pose a question Erin. Two families: Family number one is a hard working husband, lets call him Bob, with a stay at home wife and two children. Family number two is a dysfunctional married family also with two children but the wife is a drug addict and alcoholic. The male lets call him Dan, figure in family number two has never held a steady job; he was a school dropout and troublemaker. Not an unfamiliar male figure in our urban settings. Dan hates his life so he makes the bad decision on how to change it. Taking to the streets he spies Bill coming home from work. Aha, a mark. Dan accosts Bill and demands his money and watch. Bill refuses so Dan pulls out a knife and kills Bill. Of course Dan is caught and prosecuted and sent to jail. Which of these two families will receive more of our taxpayer money? Bills family, the victims or Dans family also victims but of a different nature? Both families are victims. Bills family is the victim of a murderer and Dan’s family was the victim of a liberal society that allowed this behavior to continue. Many hard working members of our society are now saying enough is enough. The left says it is unfair for so few to have so much and the right says it is unfair that they have to pay other peoples bills. There is no law against sending the government more than the required tax. So I would suggest that all your readers that agree with your stance on this send to our governments, Federal, State and local, all their excess money. This was Paula’s response: Whoa, Mr. K. I don’t understand how you are making a connection between a writer’s piece about joblessness and compassion with murder. It’s an awfully big step between the two. Are you very sure you want to conflate the two scenarios? It does not seem like a logical comparison to this reader. Paula Heeschen Editorial page editor My response to her: I read in your Saturday paper about the rioting in London England. During these riots five people died. I have been taught that during an unlawful event that if some one dies that this victim should be considered a victim of a capital crime, MURDER. Since these five victims were murdered by a group of persons that are seeking social justice many will feel that is a righteous happening. I do not. My comparison of two families: one of good moral fiber that worked hard and saved some money and the other one a dysfunctional is no more outrageous than what is happening in London at this time. If you honestly feel that people have a right no matter what caused their financial situation to other peoples money then this country is lost. I do not believe in capital punishment but I also don’t believe twenty-one years for MURDERING 76 people. That’s a confinement of three months for each death. That’s social justice? If you had read my letter to the end you would see that I said that if you truly believe that it is societies role to support everyone no matter the situation that our governments have no laws opposing your donations of your excess funds. They will be happy to except and spend it for you. Since the couple mentioned in this post arrested on either a Monday or Tuesday drunk they must have night jobs. Or maybe on the government dole. Liquor ain’t not cheap in PA.  (Aug 13, 2011 | post #40)
