Legislation Would Provide More Chiropractors at VA Center...

This is a great idea. The Cox technique is used extensively in the VA hospitals with chiros. This is the type of integration that would greatly benefit patients and chiropractic integration. Dr. Dustin Ballard: Do your homework before using alterna...

It doesn't matter what type of doctor, allopathic or alternative medicine, research the treatment that is proposed to you, and decide for yourself. Something to keep in mind, not everything has research supporting it...yet, just as every treatment with research didn't have studies support it at onetime or another. Make your own decision. Disc herniations with spinal stenosis - can chiropractic ...

I would at least give Cox Flexion/Distractio n technique or spinal decompression therapy a try before undergoing surgery. I've seen a number of people recover and avoid surgery by trying these therapies. Also, you may want to try ATMs (active therapeutic movements), they are phenomenal. ATMs are a neuromuscular treatment and I've used them with patients that were convinced they were going to need surgery, and within 2-3 treatments they were pain free. The issue with diagnosing back pain is that pinpointing the injured tissue is very difficult, even with advanced imaging studies. ATMs will give you the opportunity to rule out abnormal muscle firing patterns that are causing abnormal joint motion and compression. Advanced Biostructural Correction

I'm not familiar with this technique, but a good research based method of posture and spinal curvature correct is Clinical Biomechanics of Posture. I've used it for a few years and have helped numerous people with chronic pain and headaches. The Dangers of Chiropractic

I know there are a lot of people for and against chiropractic, and there are good and bad practices in every branch of healthcare, but I see peoples' quality of life improve everyday with the treatment we provide, and if chiropractic didn't work, it wouldn't exist, but it does. I'm not debating technique, philosophy, or any aspect of chiropractic, I'm only saying it exists because it has value and utility that can help a vast number of people. Mixed vibes on body shaker

I've used vibration training in my clinic for a few years now and it has helped numerous patients. There is more research available on the machines, but I agree, you have to be careful which one you by, because the quality varies greatly. Thanks for the great discussion on these machines.  (Nov 30, 2010 | post #526)

Sciatic nerve pain needs specialist

I'm a chiropractor hickory, nc and I treat sciatic radiculopathy daily in my clinic. I use the Cox Technique which employs a special table that axially distracts the spine and then allows for the application of flexion to the spinal region being treated. This combination of flexion and axial distraction can temporarily decompress compressed nerves and often provide relief. On average, patients reach MMI within 12 visits of Cox flexion distraction. If conservative treatment isn't successful at diminishing pain, an orthopedic or neurosurgical consult often follows. My site is www.alliancechirop racticcenter.com. Also I routinely blog at www.drbradshook.co m.  (Nov 30, 2010 | post #98)
