No smoking ban in mayfield

I think restarants will actually see an increase in business, when everyone can breathe while dining. Some of you preach on about freedom, well that doesn't mean 25% of the population can inflick their bad habits on the 75% that want to be in a room without a toxic cloud. Also, as another mentioned, it's pretty pathetic if you can't go 30 minutes without lighting up. If you have to smoke, just go outside.  (Jun 11, 2013 | post #10)

Great voice! Not much of an actress, though, and practically redefined "DIVA" What a waste, though it's a very common tale. I'm sure being Dionne Warwick's neice didn't help with the attitude, either.  (Feb 17, 2012 | post #8)

ciggarrete prices!!

Just give em up... heck, you can't smoke anywhere public anymore, maybe they'll outlaw cigs altogether. I'm all for it, cigarettes = death on the installment plan!!!  (Nov 17, 2011 | post #13)

Occupy Wall St - Murray, KY

The better paying jobs you speak of don't exist anymore. That is what this is all about. Get your head out of the sand (or away from the corporate controlled tv) and see the reality. They have shipped most of our mfg jobs overseas, causing the 2nd depression of the last 75 yrs. If we don't stand up now, the service industry will go next. The corporatocracy has already used up all the easy pickins, there's little else they can get their hands on, short of turning the U.S. into another banana republic where they can loot the people at will. They already control the government, media, and stock markets. They use the illusion of free elections and 2 party system to keep us pacified. I hope more and more people will wake up and get on the bandwagon of freedom before it's too late. Let's restore democracy in this country, and destroy crony capitalism before it destroys us.  (Nov 15, 2011 | post #91)

Walmarts high customer service standards

Keep on spending your money at China-Mart. Who cares if everyone is losing their job to slave labor, so long as you can buy cheap crap you really don't need in the first place.  (Nov 15, 2011 | post #58)

Christ has only ONE Church!!

This is madness!!! Christ didn't start a church, he struck several blows against the organized religions of the day. If you want a founder of the church, it had to be St. Peter, founder of the Catholic church. If, like so many others, you believe the church became corrupted after the deciples died off, then the Morman teachings make a lot of sense. Who's to say Jesus didn't come to the new world (western hemisphere). That's the beauty of living in this country. You're free to believe anything you want, just don't try to force it onto anyone else. Freedom also means freedom from religion, and if I don't believe in fairy tales, that's my business.  (Nov 7, 2011 | post #27)

You seem like a smart person, but terribly misguided. First off, the U.S. lags far behind most developed nations in environmental and labor regulations, which is one reason the germans, japanese, etc. etc. are so keen to locate their industries here. This is where the largest market for their products is, and where there is a huge skilled labor force in place. I agree with you about the minimum wage jobs, but minimum wage laws were inacted to protect low skilled workers from exploitation, along with increasing the tax base. Huge tax cuts for corporations, combined with low untaxable earnings for the poor, equals NO money for the government. We need to hold Wall Street accountable for their massive profits made on the toil and sweat of the masses struggling to survive. That is what this movement is all about. Level the playing field, or see this country devolve further into 3rd world status. Please don't buy into the right wing spew about how the wealthy create the jobs...trickle-down economics has never worked and will not work now. All the trickling has gone to other 3rd world countries willing to be raped environmentally and allow their people to be enslaved. It's time to bring about change that will benefit all of mankind, not just a few unconciencable billionaires with nothing but lust for the almighty dollar in their hearts.  (Nov 6, 2011 | post #12)

Mayfield/Mexico

I agree that being bilingual has a huge upside, I was married to a latina for 16 yrs. and made an effort to learn the language of her family. As for the haters on here, face it...the U.S. and Mexico are married to each other and that will not change. As for the illegals, blame big agrabusiness. They advertise for labor in all the papers inside Mexico, inticing desperate people to risk all to come here and work for wages most legals won't accept. Don't hate the people, hate the system that allows big corporations to turn the U.S. into another banana republic. Join the movement, support the demonstrations poping up all over the country. Together we can make big changes.  (Nov 4, 2011 | post #109)

Looks like the supporters of mega-corporatocracy are getting a little worried! What are ya scared of, a few dirty hippies? This is just the beginning of a groundswell of anger at the manipulation and exploitation of the common man...you ain't seen nothin yet. Wall Street greed drove American industry overseas, now let's see how that works out when people don't have a way to earn money to buy their products. Soon, the price of oil will also come into play, so they'll try to do away with minimum wage laws and environmental regulations to hire us back at lower wages and a compromised ecosystem. Don't you think it's time to stand up with those who have the courage and vision for a better life?  (Nov 4, 2011 | post #9)

I say we should go back to a free-market system, and compete on a level playing field. Stop the federal subsidies and enforce the immigration laws, let big ag compete on their own. If prices rise, so be it. America grows a superior product, that alone should assure a market share. Pay a decent wage to workers, and you will be swamped with applications. In turn, workers can purchase what they need, boosting the economy.  (Oct 13, 2011 | post #28)

Election Poll, Sept 2011 - Mayfield, KY

We need someone to bring new and radical ideas to the presidency. For way too long, we have been saddled with conservative leanings. Tax cuts from 10 yrs ago did nothing to help the common man, unless that common man lives in China. Unless things change in Washington, the large corporations and billionaires will take the last 3 percent of the wealth they haven't already taken, leaving us a third-world economy with bankrupt social services, a crumbling infastructure, and runaway illegal immigration. Perhaps this Wall-Street demonstration will open some eyes to the damage rampant greed has caused. It already has the corporate media running scared, as they are doing everything from distorting the truth to telling outright lies and misinformation to discredit the demonstrators and keep the sheeple sedated. WAKE UP!!! No matter who you elect, the real power in this country is the corporatocracy.  (Oct 13, 2011 | post #11)

I've got a 1976 extended cab that is still going strong and looking good. Hard to find parts for, though. The salvage yards seem to be full of chevys for some reason. (lol)  (May 19, 2011 | post #6)
