Fire Reported At Plastics Plant - Regional News - Lehigh ...

Ummm, yeah... it makes much more sense to think of them going to the cement plant's quarry. They have pumps there that make the tanker trucks look like hand held buckets. That is most likely where they got it from.  (Aug 2, 2011 | post #132)

This reminds me of something... Poe's Law states: “Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing." http://www.urbandi ctionary.com/defin e.php?term=Poe%27s +Law  (Aug 2, 2011 | post #108)

According to a number of posters here, some businesses have been bringing in beverages. If that is true, I would probably suggest that individuals not clog up traffic more than necessary.  (Aug 2, 2011 | post #106)

The hydrant was not providing enough pressure for this magnitude of fire.  (Aug 2, 2011 | post #103)

According to the Morning Call, the SINGLE hydrant in the area was not giving enough pressure for their needs. "There was only one nearby fire hydrant and it didn't provide enough pressure for crews to use, [Plainfield Township Fire Chief] Dawe said."  (Aug 2, 2011 | post #102)

Additionally, they have smog that is probably worse than the smoke here in the long term.  (Aug 2, 2011 | post #93)

I can't even count the number of water tankers that have gone past my house (one of three directions they can go). WFMZ gave the figure of 8,000 gallons of water a minute.  (Aug 2, 2011 | post #90)

I am sure a few inspection will be done. I don't think your speculation is necessary.  (Aug 2, 2011 | post #86)

I love benzene. Something about continuous pi-bonds just amuses me. Oh yeah. And Heather is right.  (Aug 2, 2011 | post #85)

I don't think you understand the magnitude of this fire. In this situation, there are at least 7 fire companies there, the hydrants in the area are reportedly not working, there are few large bodies of water in the area, most being quarries, the materials burning are plastics and cardboard, the sprinkler system either did not work or did not work enough, and the wind isn't really even blowing towards Nazareth. It is blowing more towards Forks. Quit your complaining. The airport sent extinguishing foam and there is rumor that PPL sent foam as well. The DEP is on scene and they are reporting that the air is safe to breather for the majority of people (as in the elderly and those with breathing issues should stay inside).  (Aug 2, 2011 | post #82)

Of course not. You aren't even relatively close to the fire. They evacuated the surrounding buildings, nothing more. The fire is not spreading, so there is no reason to even suggest an evacuation of someplace 5 miles away (unless there is a huge, dangerous amount of smoke directly in the area)  (Aug 2, 2011 | post #76)
