Elvis Presley Eclipses Michael Jackson
Oh sure!! Michael Jackson changed NOTHING. Elvis is the most famous entertainer on the Planet bar none and he has retained his popularity now for over 32 years since his death. A recent tally by the IRS in the U.S.A. showed that 84,000 people had identified their main occupation as 'Elvis Impersonators'. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and there must be a demand for such people or they would not exist. Where are the Jackson impersonators? Not more than 100 I bet.We will see how popular Michael Jackson really is when the vast majority of his fans (mostly teenagers)are in their thirties or forties and there is no new product to advance his cause. Elvis was so much more of a MAN than the effiminate Jackson and sang in nearly every musical genre available to him. Jackson only had the talent to sing in one or two genres.Where are his blues/gospel/rock 'n'roll/country/ca lypso/semi-operati c/big ballad records?!!! Elvis was the type of entertainer who comes along once in a thousand years. We will never see his like again. (Sep 30, 2009 | post #5490)

Michael Jackson: ''Thriller' was crap and sucked'
Agree. Michael Jackson is vastly overrated. Basically he was a good dancer. He was very effeminate and sang in only one or two musical genres. Further, he never matured throughout his career and of course the paedophile allegations never did his cause much good. He had an unreal sense of his importance in the music world insisting he be called 'King Of Pop' before granting an interview. Very insecure. (Sep 29, 2009 | post #39)
Elvis Presley is overrated - August 9, 2002
Elvis Presley is without doubt the Greatest Entertainer who ever lived. Elvis was the whole package - he had the talent, the voice, the looks, the moves, the stage act, could act well when given a chance and was extremely humble with it. Elvis also sang in virtually every musical genre available to him which is extremely rare in the music world. Further, his worldwide record sales are unmatched by any other artist or group. Of course, Elvis was more than just an entertainer but quite an historic figure. He was the one who broke down social and cultural barriers in 1950's U.S.A. making it easier for all artists who followed in his footsteps. He paved the way for the Civil Rights Movement and Dr. Martin Luther King in the 1960's. Elvis also matured with his fans over the years unlike other entertainers whom I could name. We will never see his like again. He was truly 'sui generis'. (Sep 28, 2009 | post #21)
Jerry Lee Lewis Is 'Last Man Standing'
Jerry Lee Lewis is a great rock 'n' roller who has lasted the course. I have seen him on stage many times throughout the years. He always puts on a great show. His 'Sun' Studio tracks are some of the best ever recorded. (Sep 28, 2009 | post #9)
Glen Campbell's alt-rock rebirth didn't quite go as...
Glen Campbell is one of the greatest talents of the past fifty years. I have seen him many times on stage and he is fantastic. Personally, there is no need for Glen to utilise other entertainers to sell records. He can do it all by himself. (Sep 28, 2009 | post #2)
Inducting Rappers into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
'Rappers' should not be allowed into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame, in my opinion. I agree with the postings already made. (Sep 28, 2009 | post #4)

Elvis Presley Eclipses Michael Jackson
If only you knew the TRUTH about Michael Jackson's Guinness Awards you would be very disappointed. All I can say without divulging confidentiality is PR hype. (Sep 28, 2009 | post #5287)
Elvis Presley Eclipses Michael Jackson
The biggest selling singles act of all time in the UK is Cliff Richard, who has sold 21,328,000 singles since 1958 debut. Elvis Presley follows close of 20,918,000 and the Beatles sit in third place 20,821,000 but both Presley and Richard enjoyed considerable sales prior to September 1959, and the biggest selling singles act of the last 50 years is The Beatles, whose sales all fall within the period. Richard has sold 20,183,000 singles since 1959, while Presley's tally of 15,824,000 puts him fourth in the table of the top acts in the last 50 years Madonna, who has sold 16,793,000 singles. The rest of the top 10 is as follows 5 Elton John 14,099,000 6 Michael Jackson 13,808,000 7 Queen 11,493,000 8 ABBA 10,812,000 9 Paul McCartney 10,034,000 10 David Bowie 10,012,000 The Beatles formidable total has hardly changed in the last 5 years, increasing during that period by 21,000, as physical stocks of their singles run out, while they remain unavailable as downloads. In the same period Cliff Richard has sold 375,000 singles, and Elvis Presley has sold a whopping 1,600,298, partly due a successful reissue campaign which saw many of his most popular titles re issued on CD and 10 inch and partly from sales of downloads of his extensive catalogue. Source: Music Week, by Alan Jones However, what one must remember is that Elvis had many hits prior to 1959 and if the sales of these were added, Elvis would be a clear winner. It looks as though Elvis is going to have the most Top 20 singles in the UK chart this decade. This is how the tally stood at April, 2009: 1. Elvis Presley - 39 2. Britney Spears - 20 3. Girls Aloud - 19 4. Sugababes - 19 5. Westlife - 18 6. Eminem - 17 7. McFly - 16. Can't see Michael Jackson mentioned here. (Sep 27, 2009 | post #5215)
Michael Jackson Called A 'wonderful Humanitarian'
Give me a break! The only person he cared about was himself. Great humanitarian - insisted on being called 'King Of Pop' before granting an interview. (Sep 27, 2009 | post #1164)
