Weekend May Tell Truckers' Strike Impact
Hey this is Brian from http://onlinetruck drivingjobs.com and I just want to say I don't think the protest is the way to go. Most trucking companies will work with you on on fuel surcharges but sometimes it takes some convincing. Times are hard for everyone right now not just us truckers. Granite none of us are making the profits we are used to but the industry will change to accommodate. After all the trucks have to roll if we want to continue our normal everyday lives. As far as Bush sending in the National Guard to deliver goods, I don't see it happening. The last I checked our military was over in Iraq fighting for their oil, I don't think we have the budget to fight 2 wars, or 1 for that matter. I am from Arkansas so I personally would like to see a Clinton back in office. One thing is for sure our current President is doing a terrible job and milking the Americans for everything we own. I just hope the next President is not in the oil business too. (Sunday May 11 | post #102)
Protesting Fuel Prices * Usa - Truckers to rally May 10
I strongly encourage all truck drivers to attend as we are being singled out with higher diesel prices. Ten years ago diesel was .50 cents cheaper per gallon than regular unleaded. Now we pay .75 cents more as there is a bigger market for diesel with todays economy. I work at http://onlinetruck drivingjobs.com and our biggest concern is the rising gas prices. The trucks have to roll no matter what but there is no reason for us to be discriminated against because we buy more fuel to ensure everyone eats and sleeps comfortably at night. Unsafe rigs should go to truck jail
Wow great thing they don't do that here in the states that could cripple a lot of companies as I'm sure our number of trucks are considerably higher. Imagine the impact it would have on small companies that rely on their weekly or monthly shipments. Personally I know from being in the trucking industry that maintenance is the number 1 key to keeping your huge investment protected. I work at http://onlinetruck drivingjobs.com and we ensure that our truck drivers stay in well maintained newer equipment at all times. I bet it does teach people a lesson.... Cutting back becomes way of life as U.S. economy worsens
I know the feeling, I am an owner-operator and believe me I will be sleeping with the windows down and fans on this summer. With the contract I got I can drive a little slower and cut corners on gas but come on, this is getting ridiculous. I just read on http://onlinetruck drivingjobs.com that gas may hit $5.00 a gallon by Labor Day, Then what we're happy to pay $3.50 end of summer and the oil company's record all time high profits. Can someone please change the channel because this show is getting old, we all know who controls the oil supply and demand cycle. As of right now I'm still proud to be an American:) (Tuesday May 6 | post #1)
by Tim Johnson: Ethanol is not the problem
With the fuel cost rising like they are I think alternative and biofuels are the only answer. I am a owner operator truck driver who has to pay for his on fuel and I personally am experimenting with biofuels and have lowered my cost per gallon to 2.15 per gallon. If I can save roughly $500.00 a week in gas I don't mind paying an extra $25.00 at the grocery store, plus hopefully some money will go in our hometown farmers pocket versus Bush, Chaney and Iraq's pocket. I have even heard diesel prices may reach $5.00 per gallon by Labor Day which will really make life hard on the us working people out there. Is there any hope in sight for this fuel crisis?
