Media Violence And Children - Too Much, Says New Study

I for one don't think violent movies are all that healthy for anyone. I really wonder why we have such a fascination with seeing others in pain. Of course, violence is a part of life, so I don't think it should be totally excluded. But there are a lot of movies out there that are basically "gore-porn. " Take the violence out and you've got about 10 minutes of plot. Anybody understand the modivation for this? I sure don't.  (Aug 7, 2008 | post #2)

Kids need the adventure of 'risky' play

So what do you think about personal responability? You've said a whole lot of unfounded (as far as I can see) accusations of others for thier mistakes, how about you? How would you take responability for your child's decision making development?  (Aug 7, 2008 | post #11)

Stinging Tentacles Offer Hint of Oceans' Decline

I for one think it's too late. Signs like this suggest to me that we've already f'ed up the global environment past the point of no return. We're only going to see more serious concequences from here on. We'll learn eventually, but I fear that many of us may be in danger of starvation if these kind of problems continue to escalate. But of course, that's just my opinion. I'm not trying to preach the apocolipse here. Just worried.  (Aug 5, 2008 | post #1)

Kids need the adventure of 'risky' play

I would guess that this overly-safe culture has something to do with the lack of personal responsability in western culture today. What do you guys think?  (Aug 5, 2008 | post #3)

You Can't Hear Me Now: Analog Cell Phones Go Silent

Anyone with a little knowhow can "pick up" any signal broadcast with EM, currently used government frequencies included. That´s why encryption is such a useful device.  (Feb 28, 2008 | post #37)

An Elegeant and succinct statement; simply beautiful. The sandwitch is a perfect analogy.  (Feb 28, 2008 | post #69)

Way found to capture carbon from cars

I find it pretentious to call me behind the curve. I agree that we have data supporting GW, and I agree that we should be acting as if it was fact, but I also think that the earths climate is far to complex for us to make "it´s a fact" statements about it. But that´s just me. If I seemed somewhat "middle of the road" to you, it´s only because I´m attempting to persuade skeptics that this is an important issue, not just belittle their intelligence.  (Feb 26, 2008 | post #67)

Silicon Valley starts to turn its face to the sun

You´re right, we´re not running out of oil either. But both clean water and oil will become prohibitively expensive in the coming years. One third of the human race already drinks water not fit for human consumtion.  (Feb 19, 2008 | post #20)

Buying into the nanobacteria hype

No, it´s not. This is a dark place, filled with uninformed opinions and hate. Go Bad, go quickly, and never look back, lest it gets you and you can´t leave anymore.  (Feb 19, 2008 | post #9)
