Card Company, DeGeneres Make Deal

Is this what prompted the poll about gay marriage in Floriduh? I'm glad to see the thinkers are out.  (10 hrs ago | post #7)

Foodie paradise found: Penang

Yes, the best food in Malaysia isn't in the capitol of Kuala Lumpur, but in the state of Penang, more toward Thailand. Prices are good because there are RM (Ringgit Malaysia) 3.23 or so to each US1.00. Hopefully, people would explore more than just Georgetown.  (Tuesday May 13 | post #1)

GAINING CONTROL OF YOUR E-MAIL

What is it with people deleting things that they want to review later? The owner of one company where I worked had over 2000 e-mail items in the Trash and clogged up the server. The Recycle Bin/Trash on the desktop is also not a place to save things. You want to save things, create a folder and put them there.  (Saturday May 10 | post #2)

Ford's success has GM and Chrysler ponying up

That sounds like the Ford Mustang I used to have. On the other hand, my parents Plymouth Voyager minivan is doing nicely at about 60,000 miles with only minor issues here and there, just like an import. I'll stick to my VWs and Mazdas. GM doesn't seem to know how to change. They weren't selling Camaros and Firebirds so they stopped making them. Why make them again? Imitation (a second time) isn't success.  (Saturday May 10 | post #5)

Backyard pizza oven cooks up trouble with community ban

Little, impotent (not important!) people seek power on their HOA and try to hurt as many of their neighbours as possible. What's not obvious about how most HOAs are run? If it's not causing *real* problems for the neighbours, why shouldn't he be able to cook in his backyard? It's not like those charcoal and gas grilles are doing anyone any favours, right? Maybe, it's time for a backlash against HOAs and the management companies and lawyers who want to support themselves while not really doing anything to promote a better neighbourhood.  (Saturday May 3 | post #28)

Florida lawmakers consider a Christian license plate

Those I've seen with the Z 88.3 or the fish seem to be more likely to ignore the rules of the road than other cars I've seen. Who knows whether they're Christians or not but it makes me wonder. It reminds me of something I was told years ago by some evangelist, that only the laws of god were important, not the laws of man.  (Friday Apr 25 | post #213)

Florida lawmakers consider a Christian license plate

Members of the legislature should have a special plate "Time and Money Waster". Every one of them supporting these idiotic license plates should be removed since it has nothing to do with taking care of state business.  (Friday Apr 25 | post #212)

Arby's owner buying Wendy's for $2.34 billion

10 minutes after Dave Thomas died, the administration started cutting portions and raising prices. Arby's isn't well run, but maybe the combined buying power will give the two something better.  (Thursday Apr 24 | post #7)

Tampa-area woman finds 8-foot alligator in her kitchen

What isn't mentioned is how the 911 operator asked the caller if she was sure it wasn't an *iguana*. I'm sure a lot of people confuse iguanas and alligators constantly, especially when one is about 5 feet longer. Next week, we'll hear about a black bear inside someone's Altamonte Springs house.  (Tuesday Apr 22 | post #89)

Fla. Supreme Court drops ethics case against Gary Siplin

Ha! That's another one who should be arrested for misuse of public funds and trust. The trouble is that the elected officials look after each other, just like the doctors and lawyers do.  (Wednesday Apr 16 | post #10)

Does YouTube generation lack sense of right, wrong?

The trouble is a lack of responsibility and it's not just teens, it's the majority of people. You see it on the news when someone runs a red light and is caught. They rarely did anything wrong in their minds. Parents don't start out their children properly. They sit them in front of the t.v. instead of reading to them, so they end up with ADD/ADHD and a lack of patience, not to mention, poor skills. If children don't have some sense of right and wrong because their parents don't care enough to explain it to them and enforce it, they're not going to get it on their own.  (Apr 12, 2008 | post #45)

4th tourist found to have Legionnaires'

I was surprised to hear that the hotel didn't make sure that the air conditioning units had been cleaned, as this was found to be the original point on contamination at what is now the Hershey Hotel in Philadelphia. Hopefully, they'll keep things cleaner in the future but I suspect that they'll go back to their usual routine.  (Apr 5, 2008 | post #2)

Our position: Drivers should be ticketed for text messaging eve...

There are no legitimate reasons to drive and hold a phone. There are plenty of devices that allow you to talk without holding anything but the steering wheel. It's not just text messaging that's a problem. It's dialing or looking at directions/maps (on paper also) or checking e-mail. Of course, it's likely almost no one will be ticketed since I regularly see sherrif''s deputies and police officers with phones in their hand while driving. If they don't understand doing the right thing, how can they enforce the right thing?  (Apr 4, 2008 | post #11)

Review: Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining -- Economy, Business and Fi...

The o-sushi from either place isn't prepared properly because the o-sushi chef isn't licenced in Japan and they don't know what to cut away, so they cook the o-sushi to kill the bad elements. There is one decent place outside Epcot, called Sushiman, near Doctor Phillips and Sand Lake Roads. It's where the Japanese waitresses from Epcot go. In any case, you won't find many Japanese in either place on Disney property. They go to the little place on the hill that actually serves favourite dishes of the Japanese.  (Mar 31, 2008 | post #6)
