Broward casino expansion causing concern in West Boca

U.S. 441/State Road 7 is already too overloaded with traffic. PERFECT. I think I will open up a pawn shop, a gentleman's club and a loan company between 18th street and Glades rd. Due to the University Drive deal that West Boca successfully engineered a few years ago, I can take advantage of ALL that extra traffic forced up St Rd 7. Thanks West Boca, you really thought that one through  (Jul 20, 2013 | post #1)

Keep your hazard lights off while driving

I think the issue really boils down to using common sense. Most vehicles these days allow for the flashers to work as well as the brake lights,I do agree that it may be easier to see flashers during bad weather. The problem occurs when folks do not move over to the right lane. Thus creating an increased adverse safety issue. I would suggest the following,..if you feel the need to put your flashers on then you probably cant see very well and you should pull off the travel lane and wait for the weather to clear. If you want to continue to drive through the weather PLEASE do so but in the far right lane, thus allowing for safe passage of others in the left lanes. A little common sense and common courtesy will get us all alot further.  (Jul 20, 2013 | post #92)

Man accused of fatally shooting girlfriend in Margate

Wow Really??? I wonder what was sooo wrong that a 50+ yr old man has no control over his anger,... To kill the love of his life? It's one thing to read the news and see how screwed up the world is, BUT it's more disconcerting to read comments and justify how out of frigin touch folks are! Been through the anger thing in my teens and early 20's, it boils down to maturity and obviously some folks just won't grow up  (Aug 15, 2012 | post #2)

Election Poll, June 2012 - Coral Springs, FL

So again another disappointing 18% showed up to vote in the primaries??? Mack only gets the vote based on name recognition. Lemieux should have been the candidate or Weldon. There needs to be some added incentive ( issues ) to vote on in order to get more folks out to the polls. Maybe put the local candidates and local issues on this ballot instead of the general election ballot,  (Aug 15, 2012 | post #59)

Election Poll, June 2012 - Coral Springs, FL

The issue I have here Jerry is the distortion and twisting of facts. If you had the wealth that Romney has, I doubt you would know where every 'red cent" was invested. On the flip side I think you would know where you were spending that money Then there's the debate that his 15% or 20% is more than X number of folks combined pay. Let's stop with the mud slinging and look at each man/team, based on current conditions, I'd be inclined to want someone who has taken a company and made it profitable, someone who knows how to earn money. Of course sacrifices have to be made, but one President won't decide that, those choices ultimately are up to Congress. Jer, we are on different sides of the track on this. This country was founded on capitalism and not socialism. Obama wants Govt to take care of everyone and everything. I don't need nor want Govt regulating the freedom and liberties afforded my in The Constitution. Don't tell me Go out and amasse a fortune but you can only keep a certain amount, Uncle Sam will take the extra and give it to those less fortunate,  (Aug 15, 2012 | post #58)

Jer, Quite frankly, WMD's are going to be suppressed the same as the JFK assassination. My personal opinion is that Sadamm sent his WMD's into Syria, in fact it was all over the news 2 weeks before we invaded Iraq. Sat. photos showed miles of covered truck convoys streaming into Syria...and what do we hear a couple weeks ago, Syria raised the possibility of using those weapons to quell the civil unrest in their country. You are right, generally Republicans are about handling things militarily. Let's not be foolish and think they don't attempt diplomacy because they do. I'd rather it be like that instead of years upon years of talking to others Who clearly don't have any intention of finding compromise or middle ground. Whenever an American is taking hostage by another country, IMO the USA should be like...you got 48 hrs to release or else. I am feed up with the Iran's off the world, coming into my country and flat out saying we should die. I can't believe not one 'crazy smart' American tried to snipe that SOB. Vietnam=Iraq I have to agree, only to the extent we misjudged the Iraqi people. 50/50 wanted Sadamm gone, but didn't have the wherewithal to rebuild their own country. The USA should have been lining up the tankers to pay for liberating Iraq. It would have helped them rebuild too. Both wars ended badly, but to say 911 doesn't happen under a Bush Presidency is...delusional. Bin Laden and his cohorts were blowing up dance clubs in Indonesia, what threat are they? 9/11 was going to happen regardless, that is unless ol Slick Willy had the balls to take out Bin Laden when he had the chance! It pisses me off that a President goes overseas and apologizes, 'mr middle east, the USA is really sorry for imposing our will of democracy to various countries whose dictators murder innocent women and children, the USA was out of line for wanting to stop the genocide.  (Aug 11, 2012 | post #52)

No I don't see how having money oversea stimulates the American economy. Let me ask you, Since when? Has it been horrible to make a lot of money, legally? Why are so many folks who are well off, being ostracized by the liberal media and left wing politicians? To my knowledge and research, investing money overseas is not a crime, Hell Obama is selling bonds with wet ink to China everyday!!!! What Obama is trying to do is 'socialize' every aspect of living. Create larger government to oversee it, and in the end we'll have fewer personal freedom, pay the same or more for services with less coming back to us. As I said before, I am not fond of either candidate but I do not want to continue on the road that Obama has tried to take the country down.  (Aug 11, 2012 | post #50)

Election Poll, June 2012 - Coral Springs, FL

Hmm, interesting that Romney is a fellow who spent his own money campaigning for office the past 2 general elections? I'm not saying he didn't use money that was obtained via fund raisers etc, just like Obama, but he used millions of his own savings to fund his campaigns. Whoever wins, is going to have a tough term. The issues & problems we face as a country will not go away overnight. What I do not want, is big government holding my hand telling me what I can and cannot do with the freedoms afforded me in the Constitution. I also do not want the country to be saddled with such debt, that my kids grand kids will still be paying for. I'm not fond of either candidate but this isn't a case to think well let's leave the incumbent in and see if he/she can fix things. Electing Obama for a 2nd term will be devastating overall. Again I say if you want to see reforms, look at your local and state politicians. This is where we will find the avenue to effective reforms that will directly effect our daily living.  (Aug 10, 2012 | post #45)

High Five on that F M Jerry! I don't care to see 'celebrities ' interviewed on CNN or FOX, I'd be willing to bet my hard earned paycheck, a lot of what they spew would be different if they didn't live in the lap of luxury. Let's hear from John in Chicago or Jane in Houston or Tom in Sacramento or Daisy in Raleigh. It's easy to forget, the way to have an impact on political policy is by paying attention to local government. Know who your local politicians are and what they stand for. Some of them make up the Congress, whom actually share the power to effectuate changes. I'd would be really impressed to see voter turnout % higher for local/regional elections compared to Presidential elections.  (Aug 5, 2012 | post #38)

Election Poll, June 2012 - Coral Springs, FL

FM Jerry, Does it really matter if one is Dem/Rep or whatever party affiliation one wants to call it? Folks are TOO caught up in labels ( largely due to media and personal laziness ). My idea is to listen to the pitch, research the track record, examine the feasibility of the pitch, determine if the result benefits the USA as whole or just a minority ( special interest ), look at how it will effect me personally. Society today is ALL ABOUT ME, ME ME ME ME! No wonder so many politicians flip flop some of their stances, it depends on how the media driven political winds blow. Here's some things to ponder,... How about we have 'socialized education' Government sponsored college. I wonder how quickly we close the gap on China/India with Science & Technology. A fair tax? How about NO tax. Make it user fee driven. It leaves no fat to trim. If I lived in fantasy land, maybe one of those would be 'spot on' but the reality is until this country's attitude of instant self gratification and the "ME" mentality subsides...it's a quick death down a steep slope. It'd be nice to live in a time of say mid-40 to mid 50s, the USA was on a high, people looked out for each other, the country was building itself and innovating things, and those were all American made. We were not picking others nose, until Korea in the late 50s. That style of thinking is what is needed today.  (Aug 2, 2012 | post #33)

Election Poll, June 2012 - Coral Springs, FL

Wings Plus, I've been to the place 2xs in 20+ yrs, not in the last 15, except when nominees stop by for a campaign pitch. So I cannot speak intelligently regarding how that establishment operates! If they help local kids make a few bucks or earn service hours, I say kudos to them. I would like to think they run the place within the guidelines of federal child labor laws. I think they would be stupid not to, with the exposure they get from various politicians! However, I do think it's a good thing ( regardless of party affiliation ) that a local business within Coral Springs can draw candidates to speak to city folks about their platform. There is nothing wrong with gathering folks together to share ideas and hear about what concerns folks have in where the country is headed.  (Aug 2, 2012 | post #32)

That is disturbing FM Jerry, I'd like to think part of the FDA's approval process is researching all available information, report s and studies before awarding any licenses to distribute pharmaceuticals! I'd say dispense with the banking industry as well. However, the whole economy thing is ALL cyclical. Some would argue why do we need so many of this and so many of that in different industries, some debate just have one. Which happens, but then the one screws up and the public swings back around, demanding more options more choices and next thing we have more than enough businesses involved through different industries and the cycle begins again. I really believe our country is just too far in debt, with no relief in sight. The spending needs to stop all across the board. I don't want the USA to get mixed up in middle eastern spats, save for standing side by side with Israel. I don't think universal healthcare is the answer, I think at this point the border should be locked down! Not one dime should go overseas to help folks, we have too many issues here at home that need attention. If this country had to go into debt, I'd rather it been for giving as many people the opportunity to increase their learning, rather than rebuilding countries that clearly hate Americans or bailing out banks or giving too much power to ins. companies. There is not a person in this coming election that can do any of those things. So the best choice is the one who appears best suited to begin to straighten out the worst of the problems...the economy...Put a person in office who has shown they know how to earn money, maybe that will work to getting this country on it own two feet and off Chinas back.  (Aug 1, 2012 | post #24)

Election Poll, June 2012 - Coral Springs, FL

Someone should ask Pres. Obama, why is it that a person who has worked hard and made a lot of money over the years, be made to pay more in taxes to subsidize those who are sitting around with their hands out. Why is Romney being scrutinized over n over for being financially successful. Not to mention perfectly legal in some methods in gaining his fortune. Obama was elected because he was able to market his campaign to the black voter. If it was not for their turn out he does not get elected. This guy had next to no experience and this is being proven day in day out. I am not happy about either candidates but if I have to chose, I'd rather pick the one who stands for less government, free enterprise, and speaking softly but carrying a big stick.  (Jul 25, 2012 | post #14)
