September 11th - October 23rd

Tribute To Our Brothers On October 23, 1983, we lost our brothers who served in the name of peace. Those who died will be remembered forever-- even if many Americans forget. If we must learn from yesterday, let it begin with those who died in the first terrorist attack against Americans. Forgetting those who died during that time speaks volumes that those who died - the fact that they did not count-- but they did! Every last one of those men who served in the name of peace counted. Do not forget them please -- they are the unspoken Heroes. Their families, though aged over the past 28 years fight to keep their memories alive. They fight for a simple postage stamp but are told that the death of 241 soldiers was not significant enough by members on the stamp decision committee. Flowers, baseball players and Disney characters are significant in our society but men who died are not. Thank you American citizens for remembering September 11th but please, while you remember this tragic event of terrorism against the United States, please take time to remember 241 additional citizens. Yes- American citizens are soldiers too. Let us never forget that TRUTH!  (Aug 25, 2011 | post #1)

Gates on the draw-down and the search for bin Laden

I guess what really bothers me as a former military officer,is the media reporting when our troops will drawn down from Afghanistan but then the President himself reported those facts on television to the media. Since when does our own Commander-in-Chief , place our troops in harms way? First, he takes three months to make a decision that most general officers would have made within three weeks -- then he announces the timeline to withdraw. Even worse - he then sends out Clinton and Gates to "comment " and protect his "6" for making such comments in the first place. Why give the enemy more intel - the who, what, when, where, and how? Focus on the mission that we lost touch with in the first place - that was, getting Bin Laden for the September 11th tragic events. If you ask me - it's all a mess and we just need to come home now. We have nothing to gain. The Afghan people have had plenty of time to get their security forces together - let the special ops guys do their thing -- they'll get Bin Laden in their own time!  (Dec 8, 2009 | post #1)

White House source: Gitmo inmates could go to IL

I'm right with you brother - on your total post in general. What's the problem with flying a team a lawyers to Gitmo -- afraid they won't have room service? Sorry, but I think the American people are tired of paying "Palace" rates.  (Nov 22, 2009 | post #73)

TSA workers at Port Columbus join union

TSA union needs to be brought to Denver, Colorado as well. With the worst management and the lowest morale in all of TSA, it's time for a wake up call. People have written to their Congressional members, Senate staff and still nothing is done to protect the workers from the "Terrorism Within". There are many hardworking screeners, despite what the travelling public may think but they cannot concentrate on their jobs if they have to worry about the back stabbing management. Good for Port Columbus!  (Apr 24, 2009 | post #1)

Susan Boyle Gets A New Do

As the author of "Locked In Time - I Still Remember and Always Will", we know you can't tell a book by it's cover! Susan Boyle is definitely a wake up call to everyone -- we must always look at the inside to reveal a person's true beauty or lack of. I love her the way she was and if she wants to change her looks that's just fine too.  (Apr 24, 2009 | post #3)

Mother of Beirut bombing victim attends N.C. ceremony

273 Gold Roses and a beautiful wreath -- as shown in the article it was absolutely gorgeous. Only a mother knows...such a solemn trip every year but so necessary to keep the memory of her blessed son alive. So young to have been taken from her in such a tragic way but her strength is a fitting tribute to all mothers who have lost a loved one in such senseless acts of terrorism. My heart goes out to all the families -- to the 273 men who gave the ultimate sacrifice. As one of the officers who helped identify and process the soldiers after the terrorist attack on the barracks, I wrote this poem the morning the families were standing at the wall -- I could feel them holding one another. Ironically, my cousin who is a cantor in Rhode Island shared with me the words of Rabbi Arnold Resnicoff, the Jewish Chaplain on site in Beirut and his words inspired me to understand that "the best of times still might be" even for those of us who have experienced such heart ache. May God bless all the families always and forever. To My Comrades You are not alone today You stand tall and with your family by your side Memories of your past will live on forever In the hearts and souls of so many Your names are each etched on the wall And through time many have come to understand The how, who, what where and when The senselessness of the attack on the barracks that took each of you from us Today though, I remember with a Heart of Love I remember not the darkness but the love That each of your families and loved ones send my way For on this day I have surrendered My pain, my tears and all that I remember I will learn to walk in the light With you by side giving me strength To know that today I too have given my all Light a candle for me my friends Hold me by your side In your hearts and souls I will now forever reside With a Heart of Love Written for the 241 soldiers Who are no longer just names on a wall Bonnie Tierney October 23, 2008  (Oct 25, 2008 | post #1)
