Route 74 closed for crash, coroner called

It's very sad and I am praying for the families involved . There is never a good time to loose a loved one . The holiday just makes it harder . My heart goes out to the police and EMT's that handled this accident . Peace n comfort .  (1 hr ago | post #17)

Washington Township man cited for throwing snow on road

Well , J Friday , I did not imply that this is a "police mission" . I was merely stating that 'most' of our police have kind hearts and would probably be helpful to this 70 plus year old man . I never said anything about them going to his home while on duty to shovel his snow . They are aloud to do helpful and kind things off duty . And many of them do . Your attitude only underscores your need to be paid for everything you do because you spent so much money on your education . Well good for you . Now that your educated maybe you can buy yourself some humanity and some good will . Oh my bad , now you can hire a private contractor for that too .  (Yesterday | post #54)

Washington Township man cited for throwing snow on road

I believe that "most Police Officer's would have shoveled for him and volunteered to come help him the next time it snowed .  (Wednesday | post #44)

This is also done all over the streets of York also and especially our small side streets . It's very dangerous once the sun goes down and the road turns to ice . On a lighter note , it looks like a parade is coming to town with all the chairs n garbage cans saving the shoveled parking spots . I even saw a baby crib . I thought people were not aloud to do that anymore ? ? I had to shovel out 3x's because of the plow as it kept plowing me in . So I go work and come home and my neighbor is parked in the spot I shoveled . I left him a note saying " your welcome and Merry Xmas " . I signed it with my name and address .  (Wednesday | post #40)

Yes , I was thinking the very same thing . If they don't believe in religion , how can they say that there is religious discrimination ? By their own words they don't believe in "religion " , thus ...Non Believers . Why can't they just leave the majority of us who do believe and celebrate alone , and just do what the Jehovah's W.'s do ? Ignore it all and use the day off to spend with family . Or maybe they should volunteer to work on Xmas without the Holiday pay attached . And give their bonus's back and the Turkey's to the food bank . Why reap a benefits from something you want NO part in . Merry Christmas Everyone !  (Wednesday | post #9)

More Pennsylvanians without heat this year

Having spent 2 winters with a broken furnace and no money to fix it I learned to live in the cold . My son was 8 yrs. old and we both wore thermal under clothes , layered clothing , beanies , gloves and extra stockings . The key is to keep everything covered and the air off you . I was thankful we had our home and shelter from the outdoors . I worked 9 hr. days so he would stay at my friends till I got home . If the night was going to be below freezing my friend would keep him overnight . I was afraid of hypothermia . I had to break the ice in the dogs water bowl most mornings . I would take my uniform to work and dress there because it is so cold that your body just shivers . It is very unpleasant . Columbia Gas came out every other month , wondering why my gas bill was so low ($20.00) in mid Jan. . Ha ha . I would say because I have no furnace , and they would go away . I tried to get help because of my son , but I made to much in nursing . We had no cable , and only basic phone service . I applied to LIHEP and this man came to my home and told his boss that my house was to cold to work in . The only person that knew my plight at my church told the pastor and they offered to help . The cost was $900.00 and we had heat 3 days before the blizzard of '93' . It took me 2 1/2 yrs. but every Sunday I would pay that money back so they could help someone else . I shared this because so many people out here are facing hardships . I want to tell you it will be ok . You will have better days .  (Saturday Dec 19 | post #49)

Dillsburg shop owners mourn 2 sons lost within 3 weeks

My heart goes out to the parents of Cody and Dakota Werts. There are no words to ease your pain . Loosing your children is the worst nightmare you will ever face . My son (20yrs.)died 5 yrs. ago . I still miss him . About 9 months after Paul's death I found an online grief group called Griefnet.org . I found caring mom's and dad's who understood what I was going through . The reason I'm posting this is there are so many hurting people who have lost loved ones . To you I say "you are not alone" . You will get through this painful journey of grief . You both are and always will be the parents of 2 wonderful young men , Dakota and Cody . Death can't take that away from you . God bless you and you are in my prayers . York man sentenced to 5 years in shooting

How does the DA's office go from Murder 1 to a 5 yr. jail sentence ? Was it just to save money on a trial ? This does nothing to make others think about the penalty for shooting someone . Was this dead 26 yr old's life only worth 5 yrs. of jail time ? I know they were both wrong and were committing a crime at the time , and this story could have gone the other way and Johnson could have been the one killed . Johnson said this crime was life changing . I hope that is still true when he gets out of jail in 5 or less yrs. .  (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #11)

I also asked how I could help donate money to buy the batteries the police need . Mr. Chronister said I could bring any donation to the Commissioners Office and they would except it . Yeah uh huh , ok , I'll be right over with that . Gees . Like I would trust them ? Be safe out here .  (Monday Dec 14 | post #11)
