I do not read them, apart from an occasional quotation by someone I *do* read. So, no, I hadn't noticed. Perhaps there is a convention of Stupid People somewhere?  (11 hrs ago | post #266460)

The war on Christmas

I'd watch or listen to Dr Tyson, anytime, any place. I rather like him-- I think he's a brilliant guy. But sometimes, a bit awkward in his phrasing. It seem to me, that he wants to speak to his own intellectual achievement, which is very high, but understands he needs to take it down a notch, when speaking to the general public. But I love when he's talking directly off the cuff.  (11 hrs ago | post #4703)

Aaah. I did not recognize-- the old Paul WV I remembered, always pushed the Cat'Licker agenda to the point of obnoxiousness. Of course... I do not actually read U.Sam's posts, unless they are quoted in a post by someone I *do* read. And maybe not even *then*... :)  (11 hrs ago | post #43)

Atheism, for Good Reason, Fears Questions

QUOTE who="Rosa_Win kel"]<quot ed text> That's how it is on these threads. As for my parents' church, the question they didn't like the most was: But why? [/QUOTE] The Emperor's New Clothes. They *know* it's all bu||sh8ttery-- but deep-down, the want it to be real. And they hate anyone who reminds them that all their faith IS just empty promises.  (Wednesday | post #15968)

Atheism, for Good Reason, Fears Questions

Well, yah... all faith is bluster, really. Religious faith boils down to fear of not-existing. It's a bluster against the uncaring nature of the universe. Sadly, it's also rather pathetic.  (Wednesday | post #15967)

I had forgotten this thread. What ever happened to Paul WV? And the other one? Pop quiz? Didn't he die or something?  (Wednesday | post #31)

Atheism requires as much faith as religion?

In truth, if they had actual faith? They would care not in the least, what other folk did, so long as no actual crimes were being committed. Look at Ghandi, who never once in all his radical behaviors, tried to force his faith onto others. Even in his drive for peace? He refused to stoop to violence. The same example is given in the Jesus legends, apart from two times: the poor fig tree, for being a fig tree (and not producing fruit out of season), and the poor capitalists, who were just doing The People a good service. So, really Ghandi was more **faithful** than the Jesus character! Amusing, in retrospect.  (Wednesday | post #266424)

Notice the superior, Holier-Than-Thou attitude? It appears to be a requirement, for godbots.  (Wednesday | post #266423)

politics as an alternative to war, the problem with democracies is that you get EXACTLY what you vote for...

I Believe In:

Optimism. Human Beings. Human Culture. The eventual ability of people to see reason, beyond "scary eyes in the dark beyond the campfire". Humans are at their best, when striving to reach beyond their own self-imposed limitations--especially to help a stranger in need. Humans are at their worst, when thinking THEY are the ONLY person with "the answer".
