Could Religious belief be considered to be a Mental Disor...
Are all these atrocities in the name of religion? The Vatican, if memory serves, is not involved in murder of innocent people. However, religious fanatics are very involved, and the response needs to be swift and final, in spite of the weaponry that is in the hands of the super powers. If you want to roll over and play dead, the result may well be other World Trade Center fiasco's. I would expect that Dr. Berlinski is a resident and not a teaching professor at the university. Could Religious belief be considered to be a Mental Disor...
Why not, but only if one believes that one can murder innocent people because his or her religion allows for this sort of behavior. We should have no patience for this, since it has no place in society. Those who suffer from mental ills of this kind should be put out of their misery asap. (Wednesday May 15 | post #79)
Could More Base Closures Be on the Way?
Absolutely in America. Some of these bases are here only because a legislator is from that state and wants to feed the local economy. The cost to maintain them is prohibitive and they no longer serve any useful purpose. Our homeland bases can most certainly be consolidated and be effective. My view is that we keep our overseas bases, since they may be needed for our safety at home while responding to terror abroad. (Thursday May 9 | post #19)
Could More Base Closures Be on the Way?
Many of these bases are nothing but pork for legislators who hail from those states, and may need to be closed because they cost us taxpayers billions and are not necessary in the scheme of things. My view is that money that we do not have is being thrown at these bases and has nothing to do with illegal anythings. Something could have been done with these illegal immigrants 20 years ago, when it was doable. Now it is too late, and we need another plan, since most have grown up here and regard America as their country. This is not their fault; it is the fault of our government. How do you throw 12 million people out? Round 'em up like cattle? They will scatter and the cost to find them would be prohibitive. I am open to any intelligent suggestions to resolve this catastrophe. (Wednesday May 8 | post #9)
Marketplace Fairness Tax on Internet: Not fairness, just ...
Since when is anything easy? Some states are already getting their share of the pie. I would think that a federal tax would help our beleaguered government in it's efforts to improve our financial situation. (Tuesday Apr 30 | post #25)
Marketplace Fairness Tax on Internet: Not fairness, just ...
Oh well. It was fun while it lasted, and it was simply a matter of time before this loophole was closed. (Monday Apr 29 | post #1)
Government loan to Fisker to be scrutinized in congressio...
Apparently, the feds did not speak with anybody who has experience in the automobile business, and simply threw money at a venture that was doomed from the beginning. I have 30 yrs experience in this business and found it amusing that people with no understanding made mind boggling decisions without due diligence. Of course, when money grows on trees, why bother. And what a lousy name for a $100,000 vehicle. (Thursday Apr 25 | post #53)
U.S. to keep restriction on small knives on planes for now
Nice to know that someone has some common sense, but what about the 'right to bear arms'? (Tuesday Apr 23 | post #3)
Weiner back on Twitter, the epicenter of his prior downfall
This guy's effort to regain public office is an insult and does nothing to improve the image that we Americans have of our public officials. He broke a very sacred law and should be thankful that he wasn't tossed into the slammer. Here is a guy who wants to hold public office, and he pulls a stunt like this--trying to shag a screw online? It is as though he is flaunting it in our face. And he says that he didn't break any law? He broke the law that says-- 'Thou shalt not approach a 17 year old girl for boffing purposes'. He didn't know that she was 17(really?) , but too bad. (Tuesday Apr 23 | post #2)
Nonpartisan commission: US sanctioned torture from the to...
I have a better idea. Instead of sending drones that can't differentiate between grandma and the dog, my suggestion is that we recall all drones and send in more of our 20 year old sons and daughters to die in those hell holes. At least it is a fair fight. (Apr 17, 2013 | post #30)
Nonpartisan commission: US sanctioned torture from the to...
Good! Anyone who deliberately murders innocent Americans should be tortured. In my view, this is what due process is all about in these matters. (Apr 16, 2013 | post #1)
Why #StandWithRand is Being Attacked
What was the point of a filibuster? Was it to show that the Republican party needs new leadership? As a lifelong independent, I generally vote with the Republicans, except for the last two elections. New faces with new ideas are needed in the Republican party, but not people who are too conservative. My view is that the conservative tea party gang is a disruptive bunch, who will interfere with our recovery, which appears to be slowly inching its way forward. I suppose that Senator Rand did this just to show that he could. OK, he did it. Congrats! Woopie for him. (Mar 11, 2013 | post #8)
Air marshals want TSA knife policy reviewed
Why can't they leave well enough alone? After the initial bitching, moaning, whining and complaining, people who use airplanes for transportation have accepted the new rules for passengers, one of which includes a no knife policy. Why put people at additional risk when it is not necessary? Today there are enough crazies around, even though knives don't kill, according to the gun lobby, but people do kill. Controversial call that cost Notre Dame early
AMEN! Over the years I have had the privilege of watching many great teams dominate their opponent, from the Tony Dorsett led Pitt teams of the 1970's to those nasty Miami, Florida, Florida State teams that followed. In my view Alabama was bigger, faster, better athletes, and on a different level as a football team. There will be a number of Alabama players that will graduate to the NFL. On that day, Alabama was the best college team that ever played, and they would compete most favorably with any team in football history. (Feb 12, 2013 | post #35)
Senators Reach Agreement On Overhauling Immigration
Absolutely. The issue is what to do with those who we have given tacit permission to remain here for 25 years and the children who were born here and know this country as their own. Do we send in the National Guard, the Navy Seals, or what? Extricating 12 million people is a challenge that is destined for failure. In my view we have to give them the opportunity to stay--there is no other practical way to resolve this issue. Maybe this time something positive will be the result. (Jan 28, 2013 | post #30)
