Anyone have memories of downtown Clementon in 50's or 60's?

I think it was in the late 50's. I remember my parents melting snow in the bath tub because there was no electric and everything froze.  (Saturday Nov 28 | post #551)

I can also remember Mr. Pennypacker going to the roof of the school and clearing out all the balls that were thrown up there. We use to wait down on the ground and get what ever we could. I also remember when I was in 5th grade (5B)and had Mr. Morman, his brother also taught 5th grade (5A). Every summer we would have a softball game between the two classes and they would also take a bat when there class was up. Now, from the field closest to the school, Don Morman (5B) would hit the ball into the leftfield woods and his brother would hit the ball into center field to the upper field. Nobody could ever catch it.  (Saturday Nov 21 | post #546)

How many of you remember going out onto the Gibbs School playground during the winter when there was plenty of snow on the ground and making snow balls. Now I'm talking about snowballs that you would make by rolling around the snow on the field until they got to be maybe 3 to 4 feet in diameter. Then you would roll them over to the woods and let them go down the hill into the woods. Sometimes you would going along with them.  (Saturday Nov 21 | post #544)

Tom, I have over 100 pictures of the fire at the Old Acme. I was Asst. Chief at the time and it was on Halloween at 2:30 in the afternoon in 1978. I was eating at the Burger King on the pike when the pager went off. All you could see was black smoke going over the center of town. I worked at the Communications Center and never made it to work that day. We spent over 36 hours there cooling down all the hot stops. Once the fire got into the ceiling area you couldn't stop it.  (Nov 6, 2009 | post #537)

Hey Tom, Here's a trivia question. Do you remember what location the Ice House he had behind the gas station originally came from?  (Jun 20, 2009 | post #439)

The gas station was Dipalma's Gulf Station. The owner was Romeo and his son's are Nick, Vince and Joe. We use to play football behind the station. There was a large dirt field there. I do remember the collie. When they shaved him, it looked like a lion.  (Jun 18, 2009 | post #435)

Connie, I'm almost sure my dad only took the class pictures. I don't think he still has the negatives. He gave up the photography when color pictures became popular. I can remember my dad taking the pictures in Black and White and my mom coloring them in with oil colors.  (Jun 12, 2009 | post #413)
