Amanda Underwood

Does anyone know the outcome of her case in Federal Court vs. WVDHHR/CPS? Several articles were published in the Spirit of Jefferson newspaper in 2012, however updates have not appeared this year.  (May 4, 2013 | post #1)

what is the best restaurant in town?

O'Neill's is the best restaurant in Moorefield hands down. There's not a better place even in surrounding counties.  (Jan 12, 2013 | post #6)

Rednecks have a Parade!

Petersburg is a big time red neck town. Places in southern WV have nothing on these people. The number of parades over a six month period says something, especially when it's pretty much the same parade over and over. How many fire trucks and tractors can you watch roll down a street while people openly drink beer and smoke cigarettes from the floats. The number of lift kit trucks is amazing. "Hey ya'll let's go down to the parking lot and race our engines or drive around town revving 'em up. Isn't being immature great? "  (Aug 10, 2012 | post #3)

where is the best place in moorefield to hang out?

You really want a parking lot like Petersburg ? This is where children with driver licenses hang out until 2 - 3 am revving the motors on their big lift kit trucks as if that impresses someone or makes them "tough guys". They're little boys who never grew up. On rainy nights after Dollar General closes, they fly down the street and skid into the parking lot. They like peeling out, driving fast down the street or across the bridge and back. There are more lift kit trucks in that town than Logan and Williamson combined. The high school should change their nickname from the Vikings to the Lift Kit Kings. After every touchdown the PA system would blare with the sound a big truck engine roaring and peeling out. The cheerleaders could call themselves the lift kitties.  (Aug 10, 2012 | post #25)

Petersburg Fire Siren

I recently moved to the Petersburg area. What's up with the fire siren? I've lived in other small communities with VFDs but when the sirens in those towns sounded, they rang 3-5 times. The one here rings 8 times (??) Some VFDs are using pagers to alert their fireman. Has that ever been brought up here? With pagers, the siren could only be used when there is an emergency that the whole town needs to be alerted to.  (Jan 23, 2012 | post #1)
