It's interesting that the job categories you mention are all outdated. I can't see someone finding these opportunities in the private sector.  (Dec 21, 2010 | post #116)

The Canadian Government has backed off on this and even allowed a cash private clinic to treat Canadians in one if its prvinces so people could purchase care they need. The government knows it can supply all that needed.  (Dec 21, 2010 | post #305)

A better question is why do we need them? If they are important than Kasich needs to find qualified people for these positions not teds buddies who are getting political favors. IF they aren't necessary then he can do without these appointments.  (Dec 21, 2010 | post #84)

The Ethiopians are not from Ethiopia they are from Somalia. Believe me all of us regret is except for the geniiuses like mayor coleman who brags about revitalizing the north side with its diversity. Most of us common citizens are very sorry for this and none of us were even asked about it at all.  (Dec 21, 2010 | post #54)

He allready got his appointment to supreme court, PUCO, etc. I can still hear him whining. There is a good chance we won't need all these appointments anyhow. I would like to know what they do and hnow much it pays.  (Dec 21, 2010 | post #73)

Consumer spending has reached its level of 2 years ago, so has the stock market. The factory capacity is at 75% about 7% below where it was 2 years ago. Howeve, many don't believe the housing market and forclosures to go back to normal for another year. I personal don't below our economy will be normal or the recesion will be over until that happens and jobs are available for those who are unemployed or underemployed now. Exports are strong especially in agricultural products which is the one bright spot. States with commodities (energy, metals, and agriculture) are doing above average compared to the rest of the country. The sad truth is that our economy is slowing down. http://online.wsj. com/article/SB1000 142405274870414780 457545582374002422 4.html To no one's surprise except perhaps Vice President Joe Biden's, second quarter economic growth was revised down yesterday to 1.6% from the prior estimate of 2.4%, which was down from first quarter growth of 3.7%, which was down from the 2009 fourth quarter's 5%. Economic recoveries are supposed to go in the other direction.  (Dec 20, 2010 | post #98)

Public-sector unions in Ohio soon may be under seige | Th...

We aren't attacking unions. We are attacking government waste even if it includes laying off union government workers and making them pay for their own benefits plans health care, and share in the misery in the private sector. If social security is raised to 67 so should the teachers and other government employees retirement age. No more double dipping and receiving two government pensions while drawing a full salary or drawing more than one pension period. No more health care benefits before when leaving emp[loyement before normal retiremnet age.  (Dec 20, 2010 | post #81)

You got that right. Personal property tax by the state is even worse. It is levied against all personal property spare parts equipment and inventories of businesses. In some cases as high as 88%. That makes it hard to keep any inventory in this state. It is much cheaper to have it in Canada and ship it when needed. I've seen projects go to Germany and Italy and Canada because they had the steel and aluminum to produce the material faster even though it is produced in Ohio. We couldn't wait for them to do it because there were no inventories. This has a lot of impact on jobs going overseas. Unions aren't the cause or at least not the main one. Governements are the cause.  (Dec 20, 2010 | post #92)

What ever happened to people taking care of themselves and taking responsiblitiy for their own actions? I remember when that was a normal occurence in our society before the government takeover by the socialists. Don't we have bigger fish to fry than lifetime care of felons who didn't care about themselves anyway. What about education of our children and those citizens who aren't criminals. We should outsource the jails to mexico and watch the crime drop. No body would want to be shipped down there or commit crime in Ohio.  (Dec 20, 2010 | post #91)

1bb/1300 = $770,000 per job. Then to get back to full employment with another 350,000 or so jobs created would only cost of $270 trillion. Let's do it! Why didn't he do this for the Honda plant or NCR which moved out of Dayton. Over Past few years Honda built a plant in Southern Indiana and expanded 3 plants in Canada. Just last week Scott Lawn one of central Ohio largest employers announced expansion of facilities in other states. I bet those jobs weren't worth the investment because they are not green enough. I think Ted has a lot of warped priorities. I've lost all respect for him. He needs to go to loserville with Carter.  (Dec 20, 2010 | post #92)

Speed limit will rise to 70 on Ohio Turnpike | The Columb...

I'm sure this is true of rush hour on 270 when cars are piled up for a mile and a half. However, many midwest states have 70mph speed limits including Indiana and Michigan. Most western states have 80mph. There should be some good data on the feasability of this for Ohio. The problem is that they have improved their highways to six lanes and Ohio's may be inadequate until they finish these projects. Also, most have bypasses around major cities like Indianapolis. Columbus is not up to par in this regard either. I believe Ohio has fallen behind in infrastructure. http://en.wikipedi a.org/wiki/Speed_l imits_in_the_Unite d_States  (Dec 20, 2010 | post #68)

Same for Indiana, I drove to Wisconsin in October and can't believe how far behind Ohio is over other states in highways. It really makes me think we are going be years behind and keep losing jobs to other states. A lot of large employers are expanding operations in other states or moving out all together. Honda, NCR, Scots Lawn. I don't think the windmills are going to be a good substitute since they will last as long ast the subsidies from our bankrupt governement.  (Dec 20, 2010 | post #50)
