Old Accu Billiards ...

Does anyone know what is going where the old Accu Billiards was in the north end of NB? I heard that a Market Basket was going there, but it's just what I heard ...  (Jul 5, 2013 | post #1)

no more plastic bags!

I also use reusable bags & reuse my plastic bags too ... it would just be environmentally better & save money. I've heard of some towns doing it, it seems smart. :)  (Oct 31, 2012 | post #5)

no more plastic bags!

I've heard of some other towns' & cities' stores doing without plastic bags and only using paper bags and/or reuseable bags ... I'd really like to see New Bedford do this too. What does everyone else think???  (Sep 13, 2012 | post #1)

lets talk new bedford

I welcome any improvements to the city, but it seems that everything is always so slow-moving. And sometimes it seems like we keep tearing up the same areas over & over again and not touching other things that desperately need attention. Even as simple a thing as repaving the streets ... I'd say 99% of the streets really need a huge overhaul ... I own a Jeep but it does not mean I want to go "4-wheeling " everyday on my way to & from work! The streets are HORRIBLE! We need to repair or tear down the abandoned buildings, we need to get rid of the "slum lords" who have their houses filled up with "ghetto people", these people disrespect the properties & the city around them and the landlords don't even live around here to maintain the houses & see what their tenants are doing. We need to bring in new venues, restaurants, shopping centers & stores ... and yes, a casino would not hurt any! A casino would bring in money & jobs ... 2 things we need! Why let another city get our money & jobs??? Keep it here, at home. Let's have people from other places vacation & travel HERE to spend their time & money. Let's have others talking about how great a place we have, rather than talk about how rundown it is and about our crime rate. Just my opinion ...  (Sep 13, 2012 | post #3)

What you should know about pain during intercourse

Why the hell is this topic even being brought up here??? I think it all started with a perve wanting to talk about sex. Plus, it's a bunch of crap ... a circumsized weiner doesn't hurt women! What a weirdo!!!  (Aug 24, 2012 | post #17)

Gay Marriage - New Bedford, MA

Marriage is for everyone, it's a sign of love & commitment ... why should gay people be deprived of that???  (Aug 8, 2012 | post #18)

Pols ready to go all in on new casino

We need (& deserve) a casino here in New Bedford! The jobs will help those who need them & why should we deprive the city of money to be made? It's not fair to us (New Bedford residents) to have everyone going to another state or area to spend their money. Why not make it HERE??? People are traveling to Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun (or anywhere else) & other areas blowing their money, we should be spending it HERE in our own city. People against it usually complain "it'll bring more crime" ... we already have crime! Why not at least offer jobs to people who need them & make money here rather than somewhere else.  (Aug 8, 2012 | post #3)

No wonder I cannot pick up any New Bedford channels. It should be available for residents to hear what's going on while it's happening around us. It's our tax dollars that support the city, we should be able to hear what's going on publicly.  (Aug 8, 2012 | post #1)

New Bedford Development- city on the rise

Any improvements are IMPROVEMENTS, glad to hear it. But I will say that there are so many streets that need repair, it actually makes it so difficult to drive on some of them sometimes ... such a mess. Sometimes it seems like they keep tearing up the same streets & areas every few years. And there's so many abandoned buildings that really need to be fixed up & used. We should try to bring in new businesses, companies & restaurants that aren't in the area into the area. Including casinos & great hotels, restaurants & entertainment spots ... there's money to be made & jobs to be offered. New Bedford used to be so beautiful "back in the day", from what I hear & see in old pictures. Glad there's plans to build it all up again, which'll also bring new jobs & tourists (money) to the city. Lets keep up the good work. Also time to clean out the "riff-raff " ... "slum lords" & their nasty tenents should really should be exposed of. (I'm originally from Dartmouth, MA but have lived in New Bedford, MA for about the last 20 years.)  (Aug 8, 2012 | post #7)
