Blair tells DePauw: Unity is key to surviving in today's world
Not enough room to quote your comment, Sundance, sorry. But I've headlined each section for you: A LITTLE ENGLANDER? No. I don't accuse anyone of this. We are all entitled to come to different conclusions on policy areas without being labelled xenophobes, nationalists or retrogrades. And Blair is NOT always right. No-one is. But he's achieved much more than most of us in politics and life. A touch of civility and credit would be polite, don't you think? It's a pity the defeated are often so bitter. LISBON TREATY/CONSTITUTIO N Yes I think the Lib Dems WERE foolish. Clegg should have allowed them a free vote. We'd have seen the colour of their principles and their analysis or rather REASONS (e.g. marginal constituency!) for voting with the "people" er press. The constitution was actually three times as large as the Lisbon amendment to the treaty. Wonder how they managed to divide by 3 that blasted constitution ... treaty!? The only genuine iota of truth in the Lib Dem stance was that the Daily Mail has been trying to get us out of the EU by their campaign to vote against the Lisbon treaty. That rag cons their readers. Though some are happily led this anti-EU way, of course, Tories all. The Lib Dems, I suppose, were trying to bring out the EU debate and confound the antis. It would never have worked, as an in/out campaign needs a big fight across the country, across months. The main two parties are too split on that to go for it. The Tories should steer clear of EU debates. They are split more than Labour on this. A GRIFTER YOU have been conned into believing this by the disgraceful British printed press. They, the graduates of the School of the Font of All Knowledge of Politics/Ethics/Pr inciples/Morals have been conning us for years. It takes a disinterested mind to recognise this, of course. SAYING PLENTY ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF BLAIR Come on then Sundance. SAY plenty about the "consequences ". I look forward to debating back with you. SPIN Invented by Thatcher, due to press pressure for soundbites. Essential in this media age, perhaps sadly. Campbell was just the best at it. Most irritating to the press. LAYING OFF THE SCOTS OK! You win here. After all I AM A SCOT, as are Blair ... oh, & Brown. It's only smirking, snide, sneering Scottish Nationalist Alex Salmond I insist on laying into. Don't like him; not one bit. I'll admit it could be personal. A bit like you and Blair. (Mar 9, 2008 | post #40)
Blair at DePauw: Unity is key to surviving today's world
Expand on that statement please. With facts - not just more fly-on-the-wall/co nspiratorial/ "Al Qaeda doesn't exist" stuff. And back your facts with evidence - not conjecture put out by the Daily Mail in all its principled, Agenda'd, politically motivated omniscience. I'm heartily sick of the ignorant brainwashing many of us Brits, (present company included), seem to have to struggle with daily. Sadly, we still share the same island, so I have to hope for your rise to modest intellectual prowess; with the benefit of a little help from your friends. FRIENDS? Not the right word? You wouldn't recognise a friend if he ran your country for 10 years. Obviously. (Mar 8, 2008 | post #14)

Please DON'T hold back. Until we read the wisdom of your arguments, how can we hope to start to tear them to bits. Don't be shy. I'm up for it. (Mar 8, 2008 | post #13)

Your 'lucid' writing and select choice of words puts you in your deserved place, imho. Keep it up. Our American cousins will judge for themselves. (Mar 8, 2008 | post #11)
Tony's roadshow tarnishes 2nd act
Well, I have no worries if there is a coming together & agreement (partly) due to the "good" side-effects of religion. As long as they finally got it together. Which they did. (Mar 8, 2008 | post #12)
Tony's roadshow tarnishes 2nd act
Sorry, but I had to quote almost all of you, Blair Poodle. It was ALL so wrongBlair was a GREAT Prime minister and most of the British people know it. Those who are not yet convinced will be in time. The list of social change is huge and neither Brown nor Cameron wish to step backwards on any of it. True, it's not all popular, but it has resulted in London and the UK being seen as the centre financially in Europe and (possibly now) outstripping the USA. Our social changes are just about in step with the more leftish European mainland, and many there are eyeing Blair's Britain to see what they can emulate. As for lies and the truth over WMDs. Why don't people like you, who constantly insult and accuse western leaders of malice aforethought and evil motives ever consider what they are dealing with? Internationally we are faced with such as Ahmadinejad, Putin (supposed to be an ally) and until last year Saddam Hussein. They consistently LIE about their own positions. Saddam lied about WMDs. We KNOW that. He used them on the Kurds and on the Iranians. Also we have Middle Eastern autocracies and dictatorships whose methods of trade and negotiations are in a different world from ours. And of course the UN believed the intelligence about WMDs, right or wrong. Or were you the pesky fly on every wall in every meeting so that you KNOW every debate and discussion that went on? DRAT! Global warming is a different issue. There is general scientific agreement on this, and here again Blair has led the way. In fact I expected him to take a world leadership role in this area. Now that he's a YALE Fellow, he may not have the time! What with Europe to run an' all after Christmas! Why don't YOU offer your services, Blair Poodle? I'm sure you know more than Blair on it, and all those connections you have and persuasive abilities. Just the man for the job, I'd have thought! As for the Middle East - well, we'll see. I think he has been highly instrumental in keeping Olmert and Abbas on board after the last week of atrocities. If he could get Ian Paisley sharing government with Adams & McGuinness in Northern Ireland, anything's possible. The 'NEVER, NEVER, NEVER' man was persuaded. Ask him by whom? http://keeptonybla irforpm.wordpress. com/blair-to-yale- academia-politics- religion/ (Mar 7, 2008 | post #9)

What's with Sundance - sending us to Telegraph links of old stories? Haven't you got nything new you can say against Blair? The 'honours' nonsense was absolute rubbish from the beginning. Scottish nationalist inspired tripe - and so it proved when no-one was charged. The other story - Telegraph too (A Tory are you by any chance, Sundance?) - was from 2004! Well here's a good story idea for you: "Blair wows them in In Indianapolis" . HELP! Look out world, here he comes. What do you mean that's been done already? http://keeptonybla irforpm.wordpress. com (Mar 7, 2008 | post #34)
