Gun Control - Colorado Springs, CO

Perhaps we should ban cars under your line of thinking. If a drunk does not have access to a vehicle then he/she cannot drive it when they are impaired! A gun is an inanimate object, it is a tool. The people who use them are the weapons, maybe we should ban people? If you choose not to have a firearm then do not have one, but do not deny others their rights to satisfy your own beliefs.  (Sep 30, 2010 | post #22)

It's the Guns, Stupid

Adolf Hitler: "This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead." (Chancelor's Speech, 1935) Mao Tse Tung: "All political power comes from the barrel of a gun. The communist party must command all the guns, that way, no guns can ever be used to command the party." (Problems of War and Strategy, Nov 6 1938, published in "Selected Works of Mao Zedong," 1965) The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened." – Norman Thomas, American socialist Violence has resolved more conflicts than anything else. The contrary opinion that violence doesn't solve anything is merely wishful thinking at its worst.  (Sep 28, 2010 | post #39392)

Thank you for your service and support as well. History has shown that a disarmed society is easy prey for corrupt governments, violent criminals, and hostile foreign powers. Why in the world would anyone desire to be helpless in the face of danger. I respect the police and think they do a wonderful job investigating crime, however, they do not do a good job preventing crime. Perhaps the best argument for the Right to Bear Arms is given by the left's greatest hero and the person obama looks up to, Mao Zedong. "All political power comes from the barrel of a gun. The communist party must command all the guns, that way, no guns can ever be used to command the party." Gun Control - Colorado Springs, CO

The Founding Fathers saw the need for Americans to be able to defend themselves from all enemies, foreign and domestic. The people who wish to ban guns are the same people who wish to turn America into a socialist dictatorship.  (Sep 27, 2010 | post #9)

Is President Obama the Worst President in History?

In one of maobama's books he said, "If the political winds shift direction, I (maobama) would stand with the muslims." He is proving it more and more everyday, no matter the consequences to America or her allies. Wednesday in Geneva during the current session of the U.N. Human Rights Council, the Obama administration became a willing participant in the U.N.’s imposition of an apartheid-style ban on representatives of the state of Israel. Despite the promises made by the administration that by joining the Council the United States would not become part of the problem, U.S. Ambassador to the Council Eileen Donahoe chose to attend and fully participate in a meeting that deliberately excluded anyone representing the Jewish state. Israel is the only U.N. state not permitted to be a full member of any of the U.N.’s five regional groups. Throughout the Human Rights Council sessions, these groups hold key planning meetings in which countries negotiate and share important information behind closed doors. Even the Palestinian Authority, though not a state, is permitted into the Asian regional group. Israelis are allowed into the Western European and Others Group (WEOG) in some parts of the U.N. But WEOG members have chosen to exclude them totally in all of their meetings associated with the Human Rights Council. Rather than refusing to participate until such outrageous discrimination comes to an end, Obama administration representatives walked through the door slammed in the face of Israelis and made themselves comfortable. While Israelis are left standing in the hall during the Council’s regional group meetings, this week for the first time Libya took its seat as a full-fledged Council member. Other full voting members of the U.N.’s lead human rights body include such model citizens as Saudi Arabia, China, Cuba, Russia and Kyrgyzstan. Joining the Human Rights Council was one of President Obama’s first foreign policy decisions. He knew then – what is still true today – that the Council has adopted more resolutions and decisions condemning the state of Israel than all other 191 U.N. members combined. He knew that the permanent formal agenda of the Council includes one item to condemn Israel and one for the rest of the world. But rather than refusing to lend legitimacy to a body with a deeply entrenched bias, the president chose to join and direct U.S. taxpayer dollars its way, claiming that he would be the Council’s great reformer.  (Sep 17, 2010 | post #4673)

Is President Obama the Worst President in History?

Typical brain-washed liberal. "If maobama is involved it must be someone else's fault!" When does he actually take office? He hasn't accepted responsibility for anything since the election, it is always someone else's fault when his policies fail miserably. The blamer/divider in chief is not infallible, no matter what his sycophants think.  (Sep 17, 2010 | post #4666)

Is President Obama the Worst President in History?

I am so glad to see that maobama's Spendulus bill is doing good work. SPEND SPEND SPEND! "More than a year after Congress approved $800 billion in stimulus funds, the Los Angeles city controller has released a 40-page report on how the city spent its share, and the results are not living up to expectations. "I'm disappointed that we've only created or retained 55 jobs after receiving $111 million," said Wendy Greuel, the city's controller. "With our local unemployment rate over 12 percent we need to do a better job cutting red tape and putting Angelenos back to work." According to the audit, the Los Angeles Department of Public Works spent $70 million in stimulus funds -- in return, it created seven private sector jobs and saved seven workers from layoffs. Taxpayer cost per job: $1.5 million. The Los Angeles Department of Transportation created even fewer jobs per dollar, spending $40 million but netting just nine jobs. Taxpayer cost per job: $4.4 million."  (Sep 17, 2010 | post #4656)

It's the Guns, Stupid

Wow! ONE semi-supporting example from you out of thousands of break-ins, muggings, robberies, burglaries, rapes, etc! You are on a roll! BTW, I never asked for proof from you. You have an OPINION! Your OPINION does not equal proof. Just another example of the liberal mindset that everything they believe must be correct. Gullible warming anyone? Perhaps we can use your logic to take care of some other debates as well. All democrats must be cheating on their spouses and smoking dope because Clinton did it, if we use your logic. All environmentalists must be eco-terrorists if you count that ONE single whacko that held hostages at the Discovery Channel building, if we use your logic. There are no steadfast rules to anything, except death. What you forget to mention regarding your link is that it is clear that the home-owner was not prepared to use his gun in self-defence. That is a very short account of the attack and does not give many details. I know that most liberals do not usually back up their claims with pesky things like facts but I think more facts are needed to make this a valid support to your argument. As it stands now, it is just another opinion. You may want to read the links you provide before you post them here. Have a nice day.  (Sep 13, 2010 | post #38985)

It's the Guns, Stupid

I am much safer with a gun than without one because I am trained in its use. The old tired liberal propaganda about gun-ownership has been proven false many times but the liberals still continue to vomit their rhetoric to an unwilling audience. If you're going to lie, make it big and say it often, eventually someone may start to believe it. In the many years since states started to issue concealed carry permits (CCW) there has never been blood flowing in the streets like the libs would have people believe. America has not turned into the Wild Wild West (except in cities with strict gun-control laws, ie. Chicago, LA, Washington DC). It is much more difficult to disarm someone than you think. Granted, there are fools out there with firearms but they are no less dangerous than a fool with a car, or a hammer, or a knife, or even a presidential vote. A fool is dangerous regardless of what they have. What is even more dangerous are fools who wish to deny citizens the right to self-defence, fools that think passivity is preferable to aggression when it comes to dealing with human predators, and fools with delusions of grandeur who believe that they know better than the ignorant masses and therefore must force their social and political superiority onto their "less-enlight ened" brethren regardless of what their brethren want.  (Sep 13, 2010 | post #38973)

It's the Guns, Stupid

"Gun rights advocates are up in arms that a Texas gun dealer was sentenced to six months in prison for selling a firearm to an illegal immigrant, but a "middle-man " who bought the gun for the immigrant -- and who was in the U.S. illegally himself, but had a valid driver's license -- was never arrested, charged or deported in the case. Paul Copeland, 56, a Vietnam veteran, was sentenced to prison time and two years probation in federal court last week for selling a gun to an undocumented alien, Hipolito Aviles, at the Texas Gun Show in Austin in January. But Aviles wasn't the man who handed Copeland the money for the gun. That man was Leonel Huerta Sr., who presented as identification the valid Texas driver's license he had obtained before his visa expired in 2007. Copeland claimed he was presented with a valid driver's license and had no way of knowing that the man he was selling the gun to was an illegal immigrant, or that he intended to give the gun to another illegal immigrant. Huerta, in a phone interview with Copeland's attorney that was included in court documents, said he showed Copeland his driver's license in order to purchase the gun, and it wasn't until he was leaving the building that he handed the gun to Aviles. But agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives testified that Copeland should have known that Huerta was buying the gun for Aviles. "Agents witnessed the Defendant (Copeland) negotiate a price for a handgun with Hipolito Aviles, who then handed cash to a second Hispanic male, who then handed Aviles' cash and his own identification to the defendant," the prosecution said in court documents. "The Defendant in turn sold the firearm and handed it to the 'straw' purchaser, who then handed the firearm to Hipolito Aviles. The Defendant then instructed Mr. Aviles to hand the firearm back to the straw purchaser because he had 'bought' the firearm. Agents witnessed the straw purchaser hand the firearm back to Hipolito Aviles a short time later." Aviles, the undocumented immigrant, was charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, served a little over six months in prison and was deported on July 8, U.S. Attorney's Office spokesman Daryl Fields said. But Huerta, the "middle man" who bought the gun for Aviles and also was in the country illegally, suffered no legal consequences in the case. He is believed to still be living in the country illegally. "Instead of busting the illegal alien for buying, they bust the citizen for selling," said Paul Velte, founder of Peaceable Texans for Firearms Rights, a gun-owners rights advocacy group from Austin. But one thing all sides agreed on is that Huerta, using a valid Texas driver's license, knowingly bought a gun for someone who was ineligible to buy one himself -- all the while knowing that he, too, was in the country illegally. "SA [Special Agent] Jones interviewed Huerta, using an interpreter, and learned that he is also illegally in the United States and he showed SA Jones a work visa that expired in 2007," ATF wrote in its report of the incident. "SA Jones further interviewed Huerta and learned that he had just met Aviles for the first time at the gun show and he agreed to help Aviles purchase a gun because Aviles did not have proper identification. " But, unlike Aviles, Huerta was not arrested at the gun show that day. And though the report said he was "to be indicted," the ATF said he was never charged in the case. "Apparently, Huerta was not charged because he was a witness," ATF spokeswoman Franceska Perot told FoxNews.com, adding that the bureau referred the case to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE spokeswoman Gail Montenegro said there was no record of Huerta in ICE's system, indicating that there is no effort underway to deport him.  (Sep 10, 2010 | post #38892)

It's the Guns, Stupid

Liberals are not worried about the well-being of the victims, they are more concerned that the rights and well-being of the criminals are not violated. If you think like a liberal, when someone defends their family and/or home against a criminal, the home-owner/citizen is at fault for not considering the criminal's circumstances and his/her victimization by a society that didn't GIVE the criminal everything they needed/wanted for a better life. Everything is always society's fault, or George Bush's fault, take your pick. That is one reason why the liberals are so against gun-ownership, they believe that criminals are victims of society, not human predators, that and "All political power comes from the barrel of a gun. The communist (liberal) party must command all the guns, that way, no guns can ever be used to command the party." (obama's hero, Problems of War and Strategy, Nov 6 1938, published in "Selected Works of Mao Zedong," 1965)  (Sep 10, 2010 | post #38881)
