Plane crashes in NYC river after bird cuts engines
All are off the plane and alive - thank God! (Jan 15, 2009 | post #1)
He always was. He is the alpha and the omega. This is pointless because you are not going to change my mind, and I am not going to change yours, so I am going to have to stop this back and forth on this particular thread. It's just that no matter what I say, you will believe what you will and no matter what you say, I will believe as I will. If you feel I am delusional, fine. It does not anger me that you feel that way about me. I just don't understand why you guys put so much into something you don't believe in. Anyhow, I am removing this thread from my watch list. I wish you all a great 2009 and maybe we'll meet up on another topic sometime where we can agree on something! Farewell Billy (Jan 2, 2009 | post #1296)
Well, atheists have a belief system. They believe that there is no God. They believe in the religion of chance. That evolution and the creation of this world was just by mindless chance. However, the odds that this world - with its perfect balance to sustain life - came to be by chance are the same odds as taking a laptop, opening it up, snapping all the components out of place, closing it back up, shaking it, and then tossing it up in the air so when it hits the ground, all the components are back in place and it will still work properly. To believe that is possible - is delusional. (Jan 1, 2009 | post #1239)
I apologise for going off subject, here, but let's just say... hypothetically, of course... that it becomes a proven fact that Obama was not born in the United States. Would you be in favor of revoking his President-elect status? After all, the Constitution does not allow someone who was not born in the USA to become President. Anyway, Separation of Church and State means freedom OF religion. Not freedom FROM it. (Jan 1, 2009 | post #1238)
Oh, I'm not whining. Believe me. Like I said... the odds of this being all by chance are higher than the odds of it being created by an intelligent being. Like I said - I am not an evangelist. I don't see God as some guy with a long white beard who is going to come down from a cloud reading from a scroll. But - I do believe He exists. Believe me - I'm not whining at all, but I'll make a deal with you guys. We won't whine about you calling us delusional, if you'll stop whining about Nativity Scenes and "In God We Trust" written on money. :) Billy Kess (Jan 1, 2009 | post #1237)
If - as time goes by - a person no longer needed 4 fingers and only needed 3 and we began to evolve to having only 3 fingers, who or what is it that is making that change? I'm not trying to push Christianity on anyone here, or any religion for that matter - just that perhaps, there is something there. (Dec 31, 2008 | post #1200)
Natural Selection... and who is behind that? It's obviously something of intelligence. I just can't see it. I mean, I can see being Agnostic and leaving open the possibility, but to just say for a fact that there is not a God - when this universe is so vast and endless - how can you know? Unless you been to all corners of the universe and looked and haven't seen him. (Dec 31, 2008 | post #1199)
Whenever I get into a debate with an atheist, they always assume I am some kind of evangalist or something. Right away they assume I believe in the literal account of The Bible's Creation and Adam and Eve and all. I don't. I believe that creation and evolution can co-exist. I believe we did evolve. But how could we evolve like this without some kind of outside intelligence guiding this process? It's not a "coincidence " that we have 4 fingers and a thumb. I learned when I was in 1st grade the importance of our thumbs and how we use them for so many tasks we don't even realize it. Did our thumbs come there by coincidence? Were they 'man made'? I don't think so. The odds that this whole thing is coincidence is higher than the odds that there is not an outside intelligence that guided it all...... God. (Dec 31, 2008 | post #1196)
No one is going to have their tax dollars go only to the causes they feel are worthy. A lot of my tax dollars go to programs and services that I don't believe in and that I think are wrong. It's just a part of it. I don't believe in abortion. I see it as murder. Yet my tax dollars go towards woman who can't afford an abortion, but want to have one. And that's just one example of many. (Dec 31, 2008 | post #1195)
Well, it would bother us Christians if it were taken off, and sorry to say this, but you're in the minority. And the majority rules. The "God" that is on the dollar doesn't necessarily have to be the Christian God, either. It can be anyone's interpretation of God. I can see if it said "In Christ we Trust", then maybe your point would be a little more valid. But it doesn't. It does not zero in on any specific religion. It just says "God". (Dec 31, 2008 | post #1194)
Does it really, REALLY bother you that "In God We Trust" is written on money? Does it really bother you that the local Village Hall might want to put up a Nativity scene during Christmas time? If so, just tell me... why? Why does it bother you? (Dec 30, 2008 | post #1109)
What Needs to Change in Lindenhurst
Thank God Lindenhurst isn't bad with the illegal alien invasion - yet. But it's coming if we don't do something soon. Look at Copiague, Farmingdale, Brentwood, and other towns that are being overwhelmed with illegal immigrants. They are starting to populate North Lindenhurst by the Straight Path pool and in the streets off North Wellwood by William Rall. Illegal immigration is a serious problem and I am sick and tired of being called a racist for pointing it out. They need to go back home and come back here legally - documented. How do you know the guy working for that landscaping company - who is in YOUR BACKYARD raking leaves - isn't some fugitive from El Salvador who is wanted for multiple homicide? Not to mention all the other problems we are facing in this nation as a whole over this out of control situation. Billy Kess (Dec 30, 2008 | post #67)
Lindenhurst Village installs public video cameras
Installed cameras in the "downtown area"? I never heard of "Downtown Lindenhurst". I mean, I know there's Lindenhurst, and North Lindenhurst. Did they mean the village? (Dec 30, 2008 | post #155)
LOL There's this one guy on youtube who says he is atheist. All his videos - every one of them - have something to do with his atheism and his non-belief in God. I told him "For someone who doesn't believe in God, you sure spend a lot of time making videos about something you don't believe in. Why?" He couldn't answer. They do it mostly for shock value or they think that they are somehow insulting Christians and other believers, when in fact, they're not. I do not feel insulted by them at all. I actually feel sorry for them - going through life without feeling the love of God in their hearts. Filled with so much hate and bitterness that they have nothing else to do but make video after video explaining how they DON'T believe in something. I don't believe in little green men from Mars, so that would be like me making tons of youtube videos about how I don't believe in little green men from Mars. It just doesn't make sense. Israeli assault targets symbols of Hamas power
Exactly. I am sick of people saying that Israel is the bully. They gave Hamas plenty of warning and plenty of time to stop their assault. Enough is enough. And as far as killing civilians go, that's Hamas' fault for purposely putting their military installations in heavily populated civilian areas. They do this to make Israel look like the bad guys. Besides, the Palestinians knew they were voting in terrorists when they handed Hamas that political victory. And they didn't show much sympathy or compassion for us on 9/11 when they danced and celebrated in the streets after the twin towers fell! (Dec 30, 2008 | post #48)
