chances for advancment out the window

True, there is no career path now for an RxM. 99% have already gone as far as the company will ever allow, which is kind of depressing considering you can graduate one weekend and become RxM the next.  (Feb 26, 2015 | post #3)

An open letter to SM's from an RXM

Who really cares who is managing who? Is your SM really on top of you micromanaging every day? If so that is not what they are there to do. The RxM still gets paid much more, to me that's what matters the most. I'm not sure most RxMs would want to deal with making the entire front end schedule, constantly hiring and losing cashiers, etc. on top of managing the pharmacy dept. In any busy pharmacy there is barely enough time to run that dept alone, let alone the whole store. From a company standpoint it doesn't really make sense to take the RxM out of the dept. more to run the whole store and use a staff Rph to fill in the hours, it would be cheaper to just let the SM run the overall store. Don't get me wrong I'd love to sit for an hour and work on management tasks or maybe even sneak a 15 minute lunch break as a manager, but the company is never going to want to pay an RxM salary to have them sit there doing invoice recs or paying vendors regardless of whether they can be trained to or not. I will agree that the quality/training of store managers can vary widely. Some are very well-qualified either through degrees or work history. Some have a degree but are totally clueless in the position and were more or less in the right place at the right time to get promoted when the company was expanding quickly. It sounds like you have the latter type, where no matter what advanced degree they have they will never be seen as a peer or management material by a pharmacist. But there are some out there, degree or not, that are incredibly good and respectable managers and work in synergy with the pharmacy dept.  (Feb 26, 2015 | post #13)

Pharmacy IC3s

Be lucky you only have to be berated by pharmacy customers for half your shift and not all of it like the pharmacy employees.  (Feb 25, 2015 | post #18)

Feb 18th Meeting News

So there is really no career track for a pharmacist anymore without the RxS position? These current RxS are going to hate having to go back into the stores and actually implement all of the stupid programs they have been forced to push over the past couple years.  (Feb 20, 2015 | post #77)

2015 Profit Sharing Match

Melissa, per the guidelines on myHR you are entitled to the match for last year even if you leave the company before it is posted. You would not be eligible for any bonus earned for this fiscal year though regardless of working almost half of it already.  (Feb 20, 2015 | post #8)

Cisco Phones

They are compatible with VOIP, which saves the stores a marginal amount of money on monthly phone bills. There are a lot of features that can be used with them, but Walgreens doesn't and won't implement them.  (Feb 11, 2015 | post #2)

List of good things that have come from Windows 7 upgrades:

I wish that as managers or pharmacists the company would trust its employees to perform basic Windows functions on their computers. We still don't even have a fully functional word processor for crying out loud. A $25K per year secretary in an office is allowed to do more than someone with a doctorate.  (Feb 11, 2015 | post #11)

Pharmacist Work From Home

Pay will be lower per hour than any other pharmacist rates including SP8. You will have quotas for how many scripts per hour are verified, probably in line with what they have in central fill areas. Don't think they will let you sit there and check 15 scripts per hour, it will probably be more like 1 per minute since you don't have any other distractions.  (Feb 8, 2015 | post #7)

What is a CODE 6 at walgreens

Code 6 is a customer refund in a lot of stores. I think the codes are generally set by district or even vary by store.  (Feb 8, 2015 | post #253)

Balance Rewards changes...

I'm surprised Walgreens hasn't abandoned this program already, it must be working to some extent. Most initiatives only last 1-2 years tops. I think "Be Well" and the 7 cultural beliefs are probably next to go the way of "GOT Service" and the "4 Way Test."  (Feb 8, 2015 | post #2)

Post a past Topix rumer that has come true..

The creation of the SFL position, ASMs and ASM-T were all leaked on here almost a year before they happened.  (Jan 27, 2015 | post #8)

Orlando and Tampa now one

Should be even easier for this market to lead the company in Oxycontin sales now!  (Jan 27, 2015 | post #11)

Walgreens

mandatory meeting

Other district positions have been moved to stores before. Seen it happen with market scheduling (when they still existed) so they may or may not keep a position even if their office is closed. Your office will just be the training room at a local store instead of an office park.  (Jan 14, 2015 | post #260)

Walgreens

mandatory meeting

I wouldn't expect any mass terminations before the profit sharing match is deposited. Per the terms you must be currently employed by Walgreens to receive the match, which usually comes out in late February/early March. Per federal regulations all employees of an organization that qualify must be able to participate in the same profit sharing plan. Therefore Walgreens cannot give higher ranking employees their match 2 months before everyone else. They wouldn't risk violating any federal tax regulations nor a mass lawsuit from DMs, SMs, VPs, etc. who were terminated shortly before the match which they had earned by working all of FY 2014.  (Jan 14, 2015 | post #257)
