Motorcycle crash briefly closes westbound LIE

For your information the majority of motorcycle rider's are exactly opposite of what you say they "ALL" do. I know for a fact that a mojority of rider's DO NOT weave between cars at high rate's of speed. They DO NOT ride the white line like it's thier own private lane in bumper to bumper traffic. And they are for the most part more careful then you fools in the cars, becausse they have to be. You talk about the small minority of morons, who more often then not are riding sport bikes or racing bikes who have little or no concern for safety. As for riding at high speeds, have you ever tried to do the speed limit on any road on Long Island? Car's pass you like your standing still and if your in a lane other the the right lane, they ride up your but flashing their lights till you get out of the way. Now think about how dangerous that would be on a bike. We have no choice but to ride with the flow of traffic whatever that speed is. And the safest lane is the left lane, simply because we only have to worry about cars coming from the right side and not merging into traffic. Why? because drivers don't pay attention to the road or what's around them. The guy in this story was in the HOV lane. It's open to biker's due to the safety of it. He was not weaving in and out of traffic and even at 7:30 in the morning the HOV lane is slow. So before you say something stupid again with blanket comments about any group, think before you speak.  (Jul 14, 2009 | post #7)

Suozzi in talks with Paterson for OK on cigarette tax

Volunteer fire fighters deserve the breaks they get. They risk their lives for zero pay. And by you classifing them all as "drunk Vollies" is pretty disgusting considering the risk they take everyday and night.  (Jul 12, 2009 | post #73)

Biloxi Ms. PD after 6 years on the force, Avg. pay is $42,000 a year. Bakersfield Ca. After 5 Years on the force avg. Pay $57,000 Just shut up and admit that Nassau and suffolk counties are in fact the highest paid in the country and they really do not deserve it.  (Jul 12, 2009 | post #72)

Suozzi in talks with Paterson for OK on cigarette tax

The NCPD union took a raise below inflations? Big Deal. they are OVER PAID. Do they do a dangerous job? Of course they do. So does NYPD who get's what? half of what Nassau an Suffolk get. So do the the VOLUNTEER FIRE FIGHTERS on long island who get nothing at all. The police depts. around the country all do a dangerous job and come no where near the pay NCPD get's. And don't say anything about the cost of living argument. That statement includeds the LAPD and Hawaii's police depts. Who's cost of living is equal to or higher then ours and get paid nothing compared to NCPD. So yes, our next county exec. should stand up to the cops. And if the cops go on strike, so be it. they will not have the backing or support of the public if it's over pay.  (Jul 12, 2009 | post #65)

Sources doubt Paterson will name Lt. Guv today

it's not that a senator shouldn't be able to change parities. This bozo didn't change parties. he's just voting for the republican side. he's still a democrate. What should be made illegal is that a single billionair who caused this whole thing to happen in the 1st place. this one person had enough power to freeze the state senate. I want to know who it was and what he paid to have the 2 democrates change. What should be illegal is having a vote on leadership in mid-term. this vote should be made only once in a term. and right after they are sworn in. that would prevent this from happening again.  (Jul 9, 2009 | post #10)

Park advocates: Moses wouldn't object to mowing cuts

Not mowing the grass on the parkway's is risking people's lives. Coming onto southern pkwy from straight path rd southbound. you can not see any oncoming car's because the grass is so high. and they can't see you. Same thing at Bethpage pkwy and merrick rd. Save money and risk lives... Have those dam senators in Albany mow the grass on the pkwy's as punishment for being useless  (Jul 5, 2009 | post #1)

Sarah Palin's exit as Alaska governor stuns, puzzles obse...

Did you ever once think that it was John McCain who threw her into the national spotlight's fault and not the liberal press? Did you ever think that her inexperience & folksy manner that led her to a fighters ring that she was ready for? Jump on the bandwagon and blame the liberal media. Katie Curic that evil witch tricked poor Sarah Palin by asking her questions. And it was Katie Curics fault that Palins answer to a question about Russia was, "I can see Russia from my back yard" It was the evil liberal media that had the NERVE to question if she had the experiance and back bone to be on the national stage. And it's the evil liberal media's fault that everytime something happens to POOR SARAH PALIN she runs on a press tour to complain about the press. Yeah this is an great choice for the national stage. there are much better choices of woman in the republican party then this one. Find one of them and give her a chance. Elizabeth Dole for one. The republicans might win.  (Jul 5, 2009 | post #214)

Sarah Palin's exit as Alaska governor stuns, puzzles obse...

"Many just accept that lame-duck status, and they hit that road," Palin said. "They draw a paycheck. They kind of milk it. And I'm not going to put Alaskans through that." So what she is saying is that since she DID NOT finish her 1st term. She will NOT be accepting the pension and benifits that governors all get at the taxpayer's expense. THIS WOMAN IS A JOKE. The "social conservitives " like her because she is "folksy" . i hope this woman wins the republican nomination. She is the most beatable person who might run for president.  (Jul 5, 2009 | post #210)

Again, no progress in Senate stalemate

imagine. all of this garbage started simply because one republican billionair paid off two democratic senator's to side with the republicans. and one of them went back on the deal. New York state has ALWAYS been ranked #50 in being able to pass any legislation in Albany. Now we are even ranked after Guam. that makes it 51st. as far as senators go ALL INCUMBANTS MUST BE VOTED OUT!!!  (Jul 5, 2009 | post #10)

Suozzi in talks with Paterson for OK on cigarette tax

no one likes taxes. unfortunalty they are needed to run the towns, county's, states and federal government. But to see the waste in government 1st hand with such simple things that it is easy to fix and save the tax payers money. Nassau County government is so screwed up with waste that if they tried to fix it they would be admitting to stupidity. How many county employees saw benifit cuts and layoffs? Yet how many special districts continue to operate as if it is a private slush fund. How many part time workers for the county get full medical benifts, and they only work a few day's a year? So instead of fixing the problem, Suozzi and the county figure everyone is raising taxes on smoking, so why not us also. The problem is that once the tax goes into place, the mom and pop stores are going to loose business and people will simply go to suffolk county to buy their smokes. OOOPPSS forgot that one. This tax will raise money for the county. But it won't raise anywhere near what they expect. I would like to know how many of the Legislator's who voted for the tax are smokers. They are looking at one group of people in this county and taxing them with out any representaion. Didn't that start a war some time back? it's a good catch phrase. TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. hmmmmm, that sounds familiar for some reason.  (Jul 3, 2009 | post #43)

'Biggest Loser' trainer convicted of beating child

did you even read the stories or are you just taking a friends word for what happened? little red marks on the but and legs? are you kidding me? As for details of child abuse injuries being reported in the paper, They are ALWAYS sanatized from the real events. one example is baby evelynn. paper reported shaken baby syndrome. Actual story was child was kicked off the bed and causing a fracture in the skull. then the father kicked the baby in the ribs, breaking several of them. then the father picked the baby up and shook her till she was out could. We were in the court room when the SOB pleaded guilty. That was what he said happened. None of that was reported. It is in the transcripts and it is what really happened. Before anyone starts defending this moron. read the court evidence, not what is in the papers.  (Jun 30, 2009 | post #30)

'Biggest Loser' trainer convicted of beating child

There is line between discipline and child abuse. Spanking a child or even using a belt is NOT child abuse until you take it too far. This child had his skin torn away from his body. The belt that was used was a weight belt, which is very thick leather. This guy enjoyed the beating he was putting on this child. I hope someone is going to show this guy what it feels like for the next 7 years. And yes anyone who abuses a child should be incarcerated for as long as possible. That includes physical, sexual and neglect. all are forms of child abuse and all are perpitrated against the defenseless. so for those of you who think the punisment is too harsh, look at a little child and imagine hitting that child with a thick leather belt hard enough to rip the skin off their body. They say the punishment should fit the crime... let someone take the same belt and beat this guy to a point where the skin is torn from his but. Visit www.gocliny.com  (Jun 29, 2009 | post #22)

Barbecue battle heats up in Massapequa Park

I have eaten at this place several times and have never smelled anything that could be considered irritating. As for the parking problem, you can't blame the restaurant for people's stupidity. the police should pay more attention to illegal parking and ticket the offenders. Tow the ones who block driveways. but you can't blame the restaurant for that. the town should be happy that there is a successful business that employ's people who speak english and pay their taxes. GTO on north broadway also has a cooking smell coming from it. but no one near that place complains. People in the park should lighten up.  (Jun 25, 2009 | post #90)
