State representative Geanie Morrison announces she will n...

“I have long been committed to serving the people of Texas, and I plan to continue to do so,” said Morrison. “However, at this time it is critical for me to devote my attention to taking care of my family, especially over the next few months.” Morrison said she would have to run for re-election under the map originally passed by the Texas Legislature, which kept House District 30 intact. Morrison also said her decision not to run was also influenced by a serious illness in her family. “It’s been such a privilege to serve my constituents down through the years,” she said. “With family issues, I feel like at this time I need to be staying at home and taking care of a family member who is ill and not say that I can be out of my area to campaign in the district that the federal court drew.”  (Mar 30, 2012 | post #1)
