Tracy searches desperately for IRL ride

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't it a year ago last fall when PT had an opportunity to go to NASCAR and he turned it down because it looked as though the merger might go through back then and he wanted to be a part of it. I hate Paul Tracy's guts. But I also realize that, good or bad, he is a personality and that is one thing the IRL needs badly right now. I hope he finds a good ride so I can yell and scream against him in May. That's racing!  (Mar 7, 2008 | post #47)

IRL, Champ Car unification could cost George $30 million

So, you think the City of Indianapolis turns away all the money the Speedway brings in during those two weeks? Open your eyes next May...  (Feb 28, 2008 | post #71)

Jail-wagon waits concern police

I think the wagon situation has improved over the last couple of months. From my standpoint, it looks as though it's been a staffing problem. The trouble now seems to be with the Arrestee Processing Center. On a busy night, I have seen every wagon in town out of service at the APC, sometimes for well over an hour, stuck waiting while their prisoners are being processed. The wagon issue appears to have been and hopefully will continue to be addressed. Now it's time to do something with the APC. As far as having district cars transporting their own prisoners, imagine this...You are sitting in your office at work when some moron comes along and takes a dump or urinates all over your desk, bleeds all over the floor or God only knows what else. You want to work in that stench for the rest of the day? Those cars are the officers' offices day in and day out. No one should have to work in those conditions.  (Feb 25, 2008 | post #3)

Who should be IU's next coach?

David Letterman. Laugh now, but I'll bet that's a better choice than what Greenspan makes.  (Feb 22, 2008 | post #525)

Who should be IU's next coach?

I've always liked Bruce Pearl, but IU will never pry him away from Tennessee.  (Feb 22, 2008 | post #521)

Barnhart: IRL seeks chassis for Champ Car

Have to disagree with you on this. The only reason TG brought NASCAR (and F1) to the Speedway was because he was well aware of the hit he was about to take, although I think he thought it would correct itself by now. He needed NASCAR's money so he brought them in. The only question remains is will Indy (and to a lesser extent the IRL in general) begin to float on it's own again. I believe it will within five years or so. If and when it does, NASCAR will be in no position to make demands to the Speedway. If they do, they'll be with F1 on the outside looking in. By the time that happens, Tony will no longer need a share of NASCAR's pot of gold.  (Feb 22, 2008 | post #263)

Some good points brought up here.... First of all, Paddock Penthouse isn't all that great unless you're really into watching pit work. As far as watchin the race, you're always having to look through a sea of people who are all standing in your way. I've been there the last two years. This year I opted for B stand. On a more serious note, for NASCAR drivers to have more access to Indy, NASCAR is the one who will have to budge. The 500 was run on Memorial Day for over 40 years before anyone even thought of NASCAR. Granted TG could move the time back to 11 a.m., but he's in it for a TV audience as well and wants to include the west coast in that. Maybe if Indy regains a stronghold down the road he'd consider moving the time up again, but not for now. Charlotte would have to move their race to Saturday or Monday for NASCAR drivers to be involved, and I don't see that happening either. As far as Indy cars at Talladega? Forget it. They wouldn't have any bottoms left after 10 laps. They tried to run Daytona once back in the 60's and it was all they could do to keep any cars in one piece, they were bottoming out so badly. The IRL ran a test at Daytona a year or two ago, but that incorporated the road course, so the speeds were not so fast. Recalling a day a few years ago when Jeff Gordon and Juan Pablo switched cars at the Speedway for publicity and Gordon couldn't even keep Montoya's Williams on the track, I'm not so certain Indy would be missing much by not having NASCAR drivers. Those are just a few of my opinions. Bottom line is I've been waiting for this for years and I'm thrilled it has finally happened. The next few years ought to be interesting, to say the least!  (Feb 22, 2008 | post #262)

Champ Car leader leaves Indy without deal

I've checked with four various sources which all claim that the deal is signed and done. Forsythe signed in Chicago today, supposedly TG and Kalkhoven signed late last night. Now let's cut the crap and start putting on some good shows!  (Feb 22, 2008 | post #125)

IU president weighing allegations

He did some wrong things, but when is the last time that the NCAA had to investigate him or his school? He produced graduates, and he produced winners. And that is coming from a Butler fan.  (Feb 14, 2008 | post #308)
