Activists Await High Court's Health Care Decision - NBC29...

And you "may" not tell me what I "may" do or when I can join the conversation. That's the First Amendment. But I can see why you liberals find it so inconvenient since it doesn't say what you want it to say. And here's the difference between me and you. I don't need anyone telling me who I should be taking care of. I know already. Your little smart comment about not needing a mother. I have news for you. My mother lives with me and I take care of her. That's right. I could have put her on Medicaid and put her in a facility somewhere to live out the rest of her days, but that's not what someone like me does. I take care of my own. I would think a "Marine" would know how to do that. I guess your Semper Fi is more like Semper I.  (Jun 25, 2012 | post #43)

Maybe when they created this monstrosity, they could have paid a little attention to this thing called The Constitution. It does not give you the right to healthcare, it guarantees you opportunity. I'm sorry if you're "unfortunate " and only have a mediocre job that doesn't have health coverage. But how the hell does that become my problem? Yeah, I hear the bleeding hearts.. "we all have to look out for each other.." yadda yadda yadda.. Yeah that worked out so well for all the other socialists countries out there. It's pretty simple. Work hard and you will succeed. Sit on your hind end, and you're not. I guess some would like to change this equation. If that happens, who the hell would want to work hard any more? Who would be left? Let's see.. I could either work hard, do everything I can to ensure the health and welfare of my family, or I could do nothing, and get the same benefit.  (Jun 24, 2012 | post #30)

Fluvanna to Hold Public Forum on Water, Sewer Development...

Ok.. they can build it.. run a line to my house.. and I'll keep it turned off until there's a power outage and my well doesn't work. That will be the only time I'd use it. I have no intentions of getting screwed over as bad as the Lake residents. Aqua Virginia can put it where the sun don't shine.  (Jun 24, 2012 | post #1)

Albemarle Police Seek Help to Solve Vandalism Investigati...

Well you can tell this wasn't a "black" church. If it was, it would be mentioned throughout the story, and the Revs Jessie and Sharpton would already be in town calling for a federal hate crime investigation. Instead, it's a "white" church, so it must just be vandalism by some area kids.  (Jun 21, 2012 | post #7)

Fluvanna School Supporters Rally to Restore Full Funding ...

A program with at least some requirements. She can't just apply and be forgiven the whole loan. She must remain in her profession for a certain number of years (and it's not just a couple). She then receives some small discount. I have no problem with something like this.  (Jun 11, 2012 | post #59)

You sure don't bring anything intelligent to the table. My guess is you're a flaming Lib who rants crap like this in an attempt to make the other side look bad. SMH.  (Jun 11, 2012 | post #58)

Hmm.. Missing Afghan women, and concern over a possible flashlight bomb at Wal-mart. But hey! At least they'll get a good education and free healthcare.  (Jun 11, 2012 | post #3)

She's neither wealthy nor bankrupt. Interest on student loans is extremely low and payments can be set up to be repaid over a long period of time. There are also some programs out there for people who end up in these lower paying public service professions that require a degree such as this to forgive some percentage of the loan. Her and her husband don't starve or live in a shack, but they're not living in a McMansion either, and she's happy because she's doing what she chose to do. As for the encouragement of your daughter. I think that's a mistake. You should encourage her to do whatever she wants to do, but with caution that she has to be sure that what she thinks she wants is really what she wants. If she really wants to be a teacher and knows the good and the bad that come with it, more power to her. We need more like that!  (Jun 8, 2012 | post #48)

This is a serious question for the teachers out there. When you were in college (or before) and you decided that you wanted to be a teacher, I assume that you knew what you were doing. You knew the kind of work, the pay, etc... This isn't a job that people do to become rich, like firemen, policemen, etc. It's something they do because they want to do it. For example, I know someone who works in Social Services. She's got a Bachelors degree in child psychology, had no assistance getting it, and has student loans totaling well over 100k. She knew that the job that she was going after had low pay. She knew that going into it. She didn't care. She wanted to do this job because that's what she wanted, period. She does not go whining and moaning trying to get more money every chance she gets. If she wanted more money, she could have gone after another profession. So can teachers. Your job wasn't meant to pay well, accept it, or find something else to do!  (Jun 8, 2012 | post #41)

I think that's the plan by some of these yahoos. They're just pretending. They actually support such things and just pretend to be a "dumb conservative" .  (May 31, 2012 | post #17)

Fluvanna Homeowners Protesting Water & Sewer Rate Hikes -...

Sorry to say it, and I know to each their own, but I could never bring myself to live in the Lake, or any community like that. Are you really getting what you're paying for with all those fees? I'm not sure if it's true, but can you really not cut down certain size trees, paint your house whatever color you want and put a fence up without getting permission? I just can't see living in a place like that. Seems more like a prison to me than a place I'd call home. And before anyone spews nonsense about it making the home more valuable because the neighbors can't let theirs be run down or look bad, I beg to differ. I've driven around the lake before, and there are some houses in there that look like they used to belong to The Beverly Hillbillies (before they moved to Californee). All that being said, I hope you all can do something about this rate increase. It sounds a little extreme to me.  (May 31, 2012 | post #11)

Albemarle Police Holiday Efforts Result in 100 Summonses ...

Some of us are familiar with some of the local law enforcement, not by encounters with the law, but by association. Get to know some police, and you'll find some really dysfunctional people out there with a badge, a gun, and an attitude. Yes, there are some good cops out there.  (May 29, 2012 | post #23)

10-Year-Old Dies in ATV Accident - NBC29 WVIR Charlottesv...

Oh Noez!! We all better run to the store and buy rolls of bubble wrap to wrap our kids in! I personally plan to buy a huge hamster ball for my kid. That way I can filter the air he breathes so no germs or virus's get in. People are way too over-protective of their kids now-a-days. As a result, the current generation is a bunch of brats who refuse to leave the safety and comfort of home, and their parents are ok with it.  (May 29, 2012 | post #26)

Love the Sheetz. Fluvanna could learn something from Lousia. I'd love to see the cost/benefit of that area now for them. I'd bet they get nearly enough money in tax revenue from there to fill the gap in Fluvanna's school budget!  (May 24, 2012 | post #2)
