With the price of gas, how in the world could they even justify using a car to run this big bad bear over? Sound like the bear was just doing his thing and some guys in blue suits thought it might be fun to have a small hunting practice. Can you vision the Officers doing paper work regarding the firing of their weapons in the defense of the neighborhood. If the Officers would like, please contact the City of Grand Haven, they have a Deer issue and maybe you could get in some more practice. Guess I would trust Mother nature or wildlife more then mankind anyway, did anyone read the article just a few weeks ago about a Black Bear in West Michigan, they did not shot that Bear and did capture it. Found out it was a pet and escaped from an Animal Shelter. Also did you count all the officers and even an automobile (used to hit the bear) just to get this one small Black Bear, personally I think the officers did over-reacted and should have tranquilized the Bear. Lowell co-workers say carpooling is the way to go
I can easily remember using pocket change for gas when I was a teenager, or going out to the local drag strip with my Fathers car and coming back to put a dollar worth of gas in it. So that he would not know I was out racing, what a time and what a generation. We sure did love the big engines and the fast cars, it is a shame that this once greatly treasured American Past-time is dying because of the price of gas. I am more concern about my own children and my grandchildren affording retirement and finding a good job within driving distance today then my own financial existence. Sure, what about your wages, and some of your benefits, I truly think it is time we think about a part-time legislature. They only work part-time anyway and look what we are getting. This forum is starting to show the reason why we are in this situation, most people have such narrow vision and will only blame other people for there misery. Until we as a Nation can understand the laws of supply and demand, with the impact of limited natural resources we will start to turn our nation around. Yes, he need these hard working Union workers that make this great money because someone will have to pay the increases in taxes to pay for all of the promises this young inexperience person is making to everyone. Remember, if it sounds to good to be true, its probably is. What really concerns me, is that I see a Obama and Clinton ticket in the future and it will be extremely difficult to beat that liberal team by any other political Presidential hopeful. As a Conservative, it will be pleasant not to have a Republican President in Office during the next four years and to listen all the time to the blame game. The affect Obama and Clinton will have on America is highly alarming and should be a concern to every Christian who values the American Way of Life. I just wnated to say keep it up Melanie your doing a great job during a hard economy, at least your working and not living totally off the system. More power to you, I understand how difficult it must be, your jeep is not worth much today because of the mileage and all. Your not alone there, many dealers are not even taking in four wheel drives anymore as trade ins. The market dropped right out of the bottom for them, they are fantastic and wonderful vehicles. I believe that instead of any temporary gas tax fix, either by the State of Federal government. The government should allow all working families, individuals to claim a percentage of there expense for mileage, traveling for work. It is now allowed for many employers, and employees today, why not include something like this for the average working citizen. This tax break would adjust annually to keep up with the cost of gas, which would help to keep up with family budgets and not be temporary. I would really like to hear what some of you feel about this proposal and if you support it, please write your hard working representatives in Lansing or Washington. About time, second smoke is a killer and nothing ruins a good dinner then second smoke coming across your table or going home smelling like smoke when you do not smoke. I totally agree, many children are expose to second hand smoke, employees are expose to second hand smoke and it is a proven case in all aspects that it is dangerous and harmful. Finally someone with the strength, determination and education to understand fully how harmful and dangerous second hand smoking is, nothing ruins a good dinner then someones else smoke coming across your table. If we are serious about the danger of smoking, then it is our responsibility as a nation to stand up against the special interest of the smoking establishments. If people or business owners feel that this will hurt there business, they are wrong. there is more then enough statistics, studies, or examples to prove otherwise. In fact, most restaurants will find an increase in business. Not to mention, a break in there health care cost if they offer there employees insurance. This has been long over-due. God Bless America. Now this is great positive news, not just for Michigan, but for our nation as well. Alternative energy is our only light at the end of the tunnel, along with a change in life style. The first alternative energy will force many Americans to think twice before exceeding the speed limit, or ignoring traffic laws. Alternative energy will be much easier to act upon, then changing some Americans life style. We also need to get off the food vs fuel programs, stop ethanol fuel now before we continue to hurt the food supplies for others, remember we are a small percentage of the worlds population. Vandals burn American flag in Grand Haven
This one, does not even deserve a reply, comparing the Swastika to the American Flag and supporting burning another one. You move to China or Cuba and burn one of there flags and see where you end up, or speak with such disrespect and understanding of the freedom you have today because of the willingness of millions of soldiers to serve over the years.
