Mideast Facing Choice Between Crops and Water
Well, they could always spend more of their oil wealth on food from the United States. I'm sure their trade surplus would allow it. (Monday Jul 21 | post #11)

Florida Racist Drives Car Into Black Biker
Jeez. That's not right. End the hatred! The science has changed folks. Pigment is caused by the sun acting on skin genetics over many millenia when those genetics are separated by the Mediterranean and the Sahara Desert. It only goes that deep. Skin deep. Africans are humans, the same as whites and Asians. Treat them that way. Update yourselves to modern knowledge. Please! They have just as much right to be on the roads as you do! Macedonia: Thousands attend rally to demand minority rights in ...
"Athens denies the minority's existence and officials there have referred only to "Slavic-langu age speakers" living in northern Greece." With all of the "-skis" in the Skopjeans names, these people are clearly Slavs. And given the quote above, it is clear that these people also do not speak Greek, which for me would make all the difference in the world as to whether they should be allowed to be Greek. The Helenes are clearly trying to defend the last bastion of Helenism in the world, after nearly three millenia of deep and influential history in Europe. I don't think that the Slavs should be so selfish as to demand to take this away from them and the world. The Slavs have been moving in on the Greeks' lunch for centuries and I think they ought to back off. (Monday Jul 21 | post #313)
Islam Bullish In a Bear Market
Obviously Allah prefers Islam, since He gave so much oil wealth to so many Muslims. Either that or the most authoritarian religious system on earth happens to be centrally situated on the geologic clash between 3 continents. Take your pick. (Monday Jul 21 | post #5)
George W. Bush Is A Total Failure! says Nancy Pelosi
Is her claim so surprising, since she is an arch-liberal from San Francisco? (Monday Jul 21 | post #29)

Talk grows of gas tax increase
Interesting. During the Civil War they didn't even have gas. Maybe that's why we had the Civil War. (Sunday Jul 20 | post #53)
Lieberman Defiant As McCain's Wingman
Ghengis Khan was a community organizer. And I believe he was well paid for it. (Sunday Jul 20 | post #129)
Lieberman Defiant As McCain's Wingman
Lieberman is a brave man to stand up for what he believes in a polarized nation that thinks in black and white terms. It would be so nice to get the parliamentary form of government into the US so that third parties would have a bigger say. It would reduce our polarization. I feel like my votes for Libertarians are futile in or system, but I will still fight for those who take complex views across party lines. (Sunday Jul 20 | post #122)
Report links Cheney office, oil giant to global warming policy ...
Cheney is simply trying to protect the price of oil. The higher it goes, the less people will buy oil and THAT will solve Global Warming. It's too bad Democrats are so deeply into the costly efforts against global warming and don't seem to give a rat's ass about helping poor people make ends meet. All those inefficiencies they want to introduce just up the costs for business, reducing their profits and thus the taxes they pay to the federal government that Democrats then want to use to fight their various utopian causes. Remember: less revenue to the government means bigger deficits, more borrowing from the Chinese and so more jobs lost to foreign workers. It also means less money to help the poor. So Democrats' goals are at conflict with each other. (Sunday Jul 20 | post #10)
New England Democrats say crisis looms
This is the kind of thing that Democrats should be focusing on. Not global warming, which will be solved by rising oil prices anyway. But releasing "oil from the nation's strategic petroleum reserve to help drive down prices" is a big mistake. That oil is for national security and for leverage against blackmailing oil producing nations. There is not enough oil in the petroleum reserve to affect the world price of oil because the supply in the world is far greater than what is in that reserve. Yes, Democrats, help the poor. That is your base. Defend that help to keep poor people warm. But remember, there is a cost to it all. Oil prices will continue to go up over the long term, even if they dropped recently. Eventually, Americans will have to take a look at what they were doing before oil became so plentiful. What did they do in the 1800's? (Sunday Jul 20 | post #51)

Plant some!" (Sunday Jul 20 | post #1)
