Law suit

IF this lawsuit is won by B&K Hotels, the amount will come out of the municipal insurance which covers the Town. Same with all legal costs incurred by those named in the suit. The complaint claims “the actions of the town were ultra vires and unlawful..." This is not anything NEW. Town has not line-itemized anything on their budget / fiscal filings for the general public; so we can and will see our taxes going up. [NOTE: An ultra vires act is one beyond the purposes or powers of a corporation.]  (12 hrs ago | post #5)

Obit - Timothy Earle Payne

Rest in Peace Timothy Earle Payne June 30, 1956 - September 26, 2016 Timothy “Tim” Payne of St. Augustine, Florida, formerly of Colonial Beach, Virginia, passed away following a single-car accident on September 26, 2016. Tim was a much-loved family member and friend. He was known as a mechanical wizard, and loved rebuilding old cars, particularly Chevy pickups! Yes, he was a Chevy guy! Tim was a car mechanic for many years in Northern Virginia and Montross, Virginia, and then worked for the Town of Colonial Beach as the Water Operator until he retired in 2013. He was enjoying life in his adopted town of St. Augustine, Florida. He loved going to the beach, taking car rides with his dog, Toby, and hanging out in his pool with his wife, Karen. Tim was preceded in death by his father, Earle Payne, and is survived by his wife, Karen Payne of St. Augustine, Fla.; his mother, Mary Payne of Colonial Beach; his sister, Laura Fields of Colonial Beach; his brother, Ronnie Payne of Wasilla, Alaska; and his dog, Toby. Numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends also share in his loss. Tim is greatly missed, and the world lost a shining light filled with laughter and love. His memory will never leave us. Now that Rob Murphy is arrested with a dui who takes over

Canned - thank you. I found this - "In Virginia, you can get your arrest record or DUI conviction expunged or sealed if your case was dropped or dismissed. An expungement is only available to a defendant who is innocent or wrongly accused, as Virginia does not allow for expungement of DUI convictions." - this man was NOT wrongly accused, and the Westmoreland deputy did his job, and did it well. From the comments on this thread I believe someone got tired of taking his keys and watching out for him... Karma bites...  (Sep 30, 2016 | post #30)

Now that Rob Murphy is arrested with a dui who takes over

According to the VA Court Case System, remember folks our system is hooked into each jurisdiction, so other indictments would also show. Westmoreland County, (Case #: GT16003342-00), Charge: DWI, 1ST. So, This is the FIRST DUI. Now don't get me wrong, I do not like the man personally. However, I dispise people who make things up and outright lie. Bobalou you have OUTRIGHT LIED in your post! stating "This is the second or third DUI in six years." is nothing but misinformed gossip mongering.  (Sep 22, 2016 | post #20)

Toys for Cops

CBRes & Lhand - TWADDLE. If you two actually READ and KNEW what is going on in CB you both would KNOW the shop has a new owner. Give your bad mouthin' a break. Give the new owner a chance to fall on his face before your piehole spouts more venom. Confzled, Westmoreland has become a regular sight in CB with their force. I for one see them outside of town stopping many for violations. We can use a couple of 'CbHiPs"  (Sep 10, 2016 | post #4)

Colonial Beach Arrest

HOW DARE YOU. Why are you placing a 'young girl' in a position to have to defend herself? Writing "maybe you would like to talk to the young girl that he molested." is PLAIN SICK.  (Sep 7, 2016 | post #20)

Strange woman walking around town

Easy enough to find out, though. ""Prelim inarily, it appears the contributing factor to the crash was driver error on the part of the operator of the International Truck" Whether or not a Coffman was behind the wheel - it's THEIR company. http://smnewsnet.c om/archives/77997/ three-dead-and-num erous-injured-in-m ulti-vehicle-accid ent/  (Aug 20, 2016 | post #9)

New Business: Horse Drawn Carriage Rides

What a bunch of malarkey. Horses on Routes 205 & 3? Cannot be good for the horses. Trotting horses on pavement is not recommended (causes early arthritis and breakdown). What happened to all Dawgs babble about helping the youth of CB? OH! That's where the shovels come in. . .  (Aug 19, 2016 | post #4)

SO?!? What's good for the goose ... An expired tag is just that - an expired tag and should be dealt with accordingly and FAIRLY. My taking Gracie to her shindigs should have no bearing on her lack of skirting the law. In this case, illegal parking of vehicles with expired tag(s).  (Aug 6, 2016 | post #9)

Alright Yoda - "Proof I have pictures I have" so post them and give us a LINK. Once again a mind-reader lurks with knowledge "Murphy thinks he's going to get it that job and move his best friend into his spot (Mike Groves)" and you KNOW this to be true HOW? And I'm curious about your statement "The guy running the town" ...the last time I noticed a WOMAN was "running' the town. JEEBUS. I'd like to see proof also of "sit in his office smoke cigs" as smoking is generally banned in buildings nowdays.  (Aug 2, 2016 | post #29)

I'm curious - how would you have them portrayed in accordance with the Victorian history of Colonial Beach? The one thing that does pop in my mind is Charles Garland, 1st black mayor (1981-1982). He, along with all past Mayors could be honored on a building... But that's way later than the CBeach "Golden Era'.  (Aug 2, 2016 | post #3)
