Officers Target Daytime Drunk Drivers

You make a very good point. Since only the guilty object to being searched, we can save a bunch of money on courts, trials, and lawyers. When we stop someone, just look for signs of displeasure, and convict them on the spot. Or give them a lie detector test: "Do you object to this?" And if I can stop every car on the road, why can't I go door to door to look for marijuana? For unregistered firearms? For radical literature? You are quite right, I have a reason not to want the police to stop me. I want to be the one doing the stopping. For others, maybe that fourth amendment stuff colonials fought the war with England over means something. Now that that's passe', I could go beyond cars, making the house-to-house searches, stopping people on the sidewalks, and finding out who is a proper citizen. I'm all for tight government control, as long as I make sure I get to be the controller. There's a good living to be made searching peoples cars persons, and homes.  (Jan 5, 2008 | post #3)
